For once, Lebs is right — the whole idea of Mangini and Tannenbaum being on “thin ice” in the first place was a media confection — anyone who watches this franchise up close could have told you that because Woody:
a. Is extremely loyal — he gave Herm and Bradway the benefit of the doubt for half a decade, and if Herm hadn’t bolted, he might still be the coach. Heck, Bradway is still part of the organization!
b. Wants what the Pats have — long-term success, and that comes with creating long-term stability.
c. Wants what the Giants have — a championship, and that came from ignoring all the media hysteria screaming for firing and having faith in your coach.Therefore, the idea that Woody was giving them “a vote of confidence” was ridiculous because they are going to be here no matter what happens in 2008.
