Buzz: What’s Up With Troy?
Posted on April 8th, 2008 by Bassett
So what ever happened to Troy Brown his time with the Patriots and his visit to the Jets a few weeks back?
“I haven’t come to an answer to that question yet. I’m not in a hurry to make any decisions. We’ll just see what happens in the next few weeks, months, whatever it takes to make up my mind.”
I’d be surprised to see Troy Brown in green, but if he did show up in Hempstead, he’d be locker room presence beyond reproach. Knowing that, I’d still question what he can do on the field at this point …

Troy Brown with a broken leg, on crutches, with no arms and wearing a pirate eye patch is an UPGRADE over McCareins!
According to most Pats fans, he’s their Wayne Chrebet.
Gotta love the Pats for letting a beloved icon go out the door on their terms not his.
I’m not ever going to love the Pats no matter what they do. (I know that was just a turn of phrase).
If he means as much to them as Wayne did to us (which I doubt because they have so many other key guys), then the thought of him even considering joining the Jets must be awful for their fans. Who here would’ve been able to stomach Chrebet running out in a Pats uniform?
Just from comparing their career stats, it would be interesting to see a debate over who was better.
Of course we know the answer, but I guarantee you many Pats fans would see Brown as by far the superior player.
FWIW, their stats are really similar, but Brown (who has 23 catches and 900 yards – and 10 TDs – less than Wayne) had a much longer career with only three really big seasons, whereas Wayne was consistently very productive in all but his last three seasons.
