DE/OLB Quentin Groves Undergoes Heart Surgery

NFL Network’s Adam Schefter has reported that DE/OLB Quentin Groves underwent surgery to treat Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (a condition that causes abnormal heartbeat) on March 27. Groves sent a letter informing all 32 teams regarding the matter.

Pundits seem to think that this won’t effect his draft stock much, but up until now, he was thought to be a late first rounder / early second. Groves is someone who is on the Jets radar, likely depending how they use their first pick.

  1. His career could be in jeopordy. My father had WPW which leads to Arythmia. His heart beat can accelerate
up to 180 bpm. The procedure to correct this is called an ablation and not very invasive. LeMarcus Aldrigde on the Portland Trail Blazers also has WPW

  8. [...] I’m not sure Jets would take such a second round risk as Quentin Groves as he recovers from heart surgery. It is looking like the Jets will be hard pressed to screw up the draft any way they go so [...]
