A new Mock Draft Muncher is out, and it’s a partial update, so we’ve labeled it version 6.5.
Look Who’s At Six — One of the most polarizing figures amongst Jets fans lately — maybe even more than Darren McFadden — it’s Matt Ryan. To me, staring Ryan and Ellis in the face at six is the worst possible scenario the Jets could face. The top of the draft has moved itself around enough some that Vernon Gholston is now not only averaging above where the Jets should pick, but is two slots out of reach for the Green & White, slightly edging out Darren McFadden for the fourth pick. Stuck at six, the Jets might be wise to move back to 9-11 if they can, and make a play for Derrick Harvey.
Solidifying Their Space — LB Keith Rivers & WR Devin Thomas are now the leaders at their respective positions. Both are recent additions to many draft boards, but have come on strong in Mocks in the last month.
Brohm Out — Brian Brohm, a player likely to be the second Quarterback taken in the draft has fallen out of the first round completely. With Joe Flacco and Chad Henne nipping at his heels, it will be a game of chicken for the teams at the top of the second round looking to use a draft pick on a QB.
Who’s Available At #36? — Although there are likely to be some reaches at the end of the first or bottom of the second, here’s the caliber of player who looks to be available when the Jets make their second pick: Louisville QB Brian Brohm, USC DE/OLB Lawrence Jackson, OT Sam Baker and Indiana WR James Hardy.

Oh and on Jets Nation both Lucas and Buttle think Hardy has character problems and will not be on the Jets. Pretty emphatically I should add.
-
Again–What is the point of this post?
I understand how the Draft Muncher works but what is the point? Using it to examine who will be available for the Jets is absolutely idiotic, especially in the way done here.
Yes–it has McFadden 5 and Ryan 6, but there is no way that such would be the actual outcome. Just because all of your experts have McFadden going 4 or 6–which averages out to 5– does not mean he will go 5. In fact there is no way he is going 5 to the Chiefs, who do not need a RB. So why do analysis based on a projection that is absolutely, 100%, false.
Also–why are these blog posts so behind in the news. The interesting draft tidbit this morning was that Miami is in contact with Jake Long and Gholston regarding signability. So how about some analysis if they go in either of those new-ish directions… especially Gholston which would have ramifications that haven’t already been discussed.
Can we get some posters who know what they are talking about?

If Hardy is there at 36, TAKE HIM!!!
-
andrew, it’s okay. it’s a big wide web out there. go forth, mate.
-
Andrew…take a deep breath, dude. But he is right. No way Herm takes McFadden, so the analysis is somewhat flawed. What I like is that the consensus gives us Brohm. Even if the Jets are stupid enough to pass on him (assuming they don’t take Ryan) they’ll be able to trade down to teams coveting Brohm.
-
Andrew first lighten up. second, understand that the muncher is relevant in placing a perceived value on a player based on the million mock drafts going on. i dont know about u but i dont really have the time to read all of them. also i believe that the draft muncher becomes a lot more relevant from the mid 1st round and beyond since we all pretty much know who the top 10-15 talents are. if the jets trade down come draft day u will be very happy to have the muncher at ur disposal. also i am pretty sure we have covered the gholston and long to miami scenario but that is based on rumors and perhaps some gamesmanship on parcells part so i am not sure why u of all people would be interested in analyzing it…whats the point as u say!

Bassett, You don’t have to justify yourself. You do a great job. I have been checking your site daily for weeks now and I love it. I get all my Jet info as quickly as any place on the web. Your topics are interesting and you keep us Jet fans pumped up, as we wait for the season to start. Keep going, buddy, and don’t let the pea-brains bother you.
-
seriously Andrew go away. No need for the negativity.
Boo on you sir. -
I still love you basset. In a poster to blog host kind of way. Go Jets
-
Andrew, care to lead my parade man? What a cry-baby you are – Whaaaaa! Longing for mommy’s teat? Get lost punk, this site kicks ass – it’s just too sophisticated for you to comprehend,
-
Bassett – since I found TJB about a year and a half ago, I ONLY come here for my Jets info. If something is going on in the papers, I learn about it here and then read other articles if I need a further fix of Green.
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read “Can we get some posters who know what they are talking about?”. Idiotic statement is an understatement.
keep up the great work, U da man

I’ve been going to site for over 3yrs. Since its inception I knew the TJB is better than most blog sites out there. i am happy that I can get Jets news faster and more reliable here than at ESPN!! And faster than SNY.
Yes the draft muncher slots players and its actually more accurate toward later picks. Plus IMO Gholston is being overrated on many boards this guy is at best a top-15 pick but he is rated at a top-5 because of his physical prowess
-
Bassett –
The trolls — don’t feed them. The rest of us appreciate your hard work and dedication, as well as your opinion. Those who don’t (and feel the need to attack you personally) will eventually go elsewhere. They won’t be missed here.
-
Bassett: please don’t take all that BS personally, you do great work here, including this post–which is to my knowledge the only statistical evaluator of the draft on the internet.

Bassett, one of the guys who loves your blog. But really, how many mock drafts do you think will be accurate this year?
And even if it goes this way, the scenario you fear has its silver lining. If Gholston and the Longs are both gone, although no one we need or want will be there, we likely will have a trade partner in the top 15.
While the Ravens need not worry about us taking Ryan, they may be terrified of having us trade out to Carolina.
I doubt McDaddy has much trade value partners, but Ryan sure do.
Plus, If Brohm does not go in the first round, we have a chance at Henne and Brohm in round 2. As posted elsewhere, I think both will likely be better pro QBs.

Bassett,
just wanted to echo the others sentiments. you, bent, r in ct, seanmac, sackdance, etc. all make this site my personal favorite. andrew, you’re entitled to your opinion- but seriously did you think that bassett was putting together a mock draft? its a mock muncher- a compilation; i thought that was obvious. maybe not.
-
I think with a young QB in the fold already that the Jets may not want to invest a No. 2 pick in another QB. You know how controversy can get going in the NYC.
And I think Hardy will be a 2nd round steal.
-
Basset, it seems like you are our QB!! And What a front line! Championship caliber! Andrew’s blitz was obviously untimed and you burned him with a TD.
Andrew…what is wrong with you man? Sure critisism is fine but with respect! In this blog we can have heated debates, we can even test civility, but effort must be made to preserve it.
-
funny that Andrew hasn’t said anything else here. he’s probably out at the meadowlands trying to bury a patriots jersey in the concrete of the new stadium.
-
Well I’m an idiot and it takes one to know one but, it took one to completly send this board way off topic. I guess everyones made their point and with style I might ad. The only thing pissing me off is the draft is on the last weekend of April!!! No QB! Fix the lines!!!
-
I’ve reviewed every blog listed anywhere and my favorite is right here! The blog presents the topics with excellent results. The posters here are also the best. More information to digest on both sides of every arguement than anywhere else. And without rancor. On to the draft!
-
Bassett, thanks for the Draft Muncher! It’s the only one I know of and it very useful in evaluating the many different mocks all togetther in one place and the average position of each pick. I really appreciate TJB.
Thanks again!

Guys, This is my only source of jetsinfo since I live in the DC metro area. Even the media cant keep up with this site. Every morning and evening I start and end my work with this site.
Thanx a mil Basset and Bent.
I’ve always appreciated others opinions here esp. heated ones between seanmac, sackdance, RinCT, drose and even nikolas. -
I have to agree with Jet4lif and I’m sorry I didn’t think about it sooner. I live in Houston, which is pretty far away geographically and socially, before I found this site, it would take hours to get up to date.
Thanx Basset and Bent.
And thanx to all the contributors, its good to see opinions that don’t have anything to do with the Longhorns, Aggies, Texans, or Cowboys.

Speaking of Ryan, here is a link from Yahoo about the Raven’s draft situation. The Jets apparently aren’t figured into the equation.
