i don't know, because i don't follow college all that closely, but isn't rivers just another vilma? meaning that he takes on blockers fine in college at 230, but probably not at pro level?

I would rather see us take Rivers at 6. He is great at taking on blocks. He could play the middle next 2 Harris and also have him rush of the edge. I think Mangini would like the hybrid type LB he would be able 2 come up with some good blitz packages. The D moves around a lot before the snap as is imagine what he would be able 2 put together.

on number three, look for ATl to pick up a quaterback in the second round or trade into the bottom half of the first to pick up Brohm (who will be a better quaterback in the nfl, especially for a West Coast scheme than Ryan). Somethings making think Ryan is going to be a bust in the NFL.

The idea of VG going to the Patriots, gives me the same kind of sick feeling as Bruce Smith to the Bills way back when...

I think both will do well in the nfl and that right now Long is the safer pick, but VG has that kind of Shawn Meriman potential that could leaves us all with a case hind-sight 3 or so years from now...

If the top four are correct, I hope KC takes Long of VG. I rather have the Pats end up with Rivers or one of the corner backs than one of those two.

Now there are some issues with the draft in and of itself.
1) There is no way howie's son gets past the Raiders (not possible, just accept it as a law and move on)
2) the aforementioned Keith Rivers at 5, if KC screws up in this scenario, it is because they take Ryan Clady over Chris Long or VG
3) I don't think Matty Ice is a lock at 3 anymore, I can see ATL trading out or most likely going with the defensive front, like Sedrick Ellis
4) If there is no quaterback(Matt Ryan) at 8, Baltimore goes cb and even if this draft is best player available, I would go with Leodis over Clady talent wise...
Just some thoughts

i think the rams are going to pick chris long if jake long is gone.

the one thing i feel strongly about after reading the FO afc west four downs is that KC is going to pick Ryan

so its jake,chris,dorsey,gholston,ryan

Many experts are saying that Sedrick Ellis is right up there with Glenn Dorsey, when it comes to talent and what their futures will look like. I think that KC has a better shot at taking Ellis than Rivers. That would still leave Chris Long for us. Although, no one knows for sure how these players will handle the next level, at least we know C. Long has got his daddy's genes. I would have more confidence in Long than I would in Gholston. Even if Gholston can crack a walnut with his biceps.

Will an OL become the number one draft pick? In 1997 Orlando Pace became the first offensive lineman taken first overall in the draft in 30 seasons. Class of 2001 enshrinee Ron Yary was the last when the Vikings took him first overall in 1968.

Actually I like this mock draft by former Raiders executive Mike Lombardi, working for the NFL Network.

Here it is:

1. Miami - OT Jake Long
2. St. Louis - DE Chris Long
3. Atlanta - DT Glenn Dorsey
4. Oakland - DE Vernon Gholston
5. Kansas City - OT Ryan Clady
6. Jets - QB Matt Ryan
7. New England - OT/OG Branden Albert
8. Baltimore - CB Dominique Rogers-Cromartie
9. Cincinnati - RB Darren McFadden
10. New Orleans - DT Sedrick Ellis

If this plays out, we could trade down with the Ravens for their pick plus a 3rd and 4th. We could then at #8 trade down with the Cowboys for their two #1s plus a pick this year or next. With these two trades we could fill a lot of needs and still get a very good RB at #22 or #28.
