Dewayne Robertson Visits Eagles

According to Delaware Online, Dewayne Roberston recently made a trip down 95 to meet with the Eagles.

Jets defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson, a No. 4 overall pick in 2003, visited the NovaCare Complex recently to meet with the Eagles and take a physical, according to two league sources.

The Eagles can’t comment on Robertson, who is still property of the Jets but became trade bait when New York switched to a 3-4 defensive alignment this off-season and signed Kris Jenkins to play nose tackle.

Robertson … was also in conversations with at least four other teams, said one source, who couldn’t confirm if the Eagles had made an offer to the Jets.

If just one other team is coming to the party, that’s a good thing … but four teams? My first question is are those four teams currently, or four teams total (so like, including Cinci)?

It’s interesting to say the least, and the hope is with more teams in the mix for his services, the Jets might get a slightly more favorable package to trade him. The Eagles have 11 picks, so clearly they are a good team with which the Jets could work.

Borat style high-five to Tom D. for the tip …

  1. Finally time to get even on the Hugh Douglas trade… I knew there had to be something more to that deal from way back when…

Hey when are we getting even with the Redskins?
    John Riggins…
How about giving Randy Thomas back…

  2. LITO SHEPPARD SOUNDS GOOD TO ME,HIM AND REVIS TOGETHER NOT BAD!

  3. Dude, I have been calling for this trade to happen for months, what a deal this could be. Give them the number 6 pick and Robertson and we get their 19th pick overall and Sheppard. We get a pro bowl corner to put next to Revis and we can now draft a middle linebacker and a reciever, or even a running back. REVIS AND SHEPPARD WOW, WE WOULD BE STACKED AND WE WOULD STILL BE CLEARING LIKE 8 MILLION OFF THE CAP FOR ROBERTSON. DO IT! DO IT NOW!

  4. I would not be willing to slide down to get Sheppard. If we knew McFadden, Long, and Gholston would all be gone by the 6th pick than I would be willing to slide down to 19. I don’t think Sheppard is even part of this deal. I’m sure at best they are offering a 5th round pick. At this point, a bag of balls is fine with me, just get rid of that $8 million.

  5. the Jets were talking about Robertson for two of Denvers second day picks … involving picks at the top of the Draft likely won’t happen ..

  6. At this point, I think the best we can do is to make the trade and take ANY picks offered just so we can clear the cap space.

  7. I am not trading my #6 plus DRob for #19 plus Sheppard. Now if I make the trade with the Panthers for their #13, I probably would do #13 plus DRob for #19 and Sheppard.

  8. woudl do the 6/19 deal. Lito is big upgrade over our other CBs & it frees up cap space

  9. good news……..TANGINI WILL do what is BEST for the FRANCHISE! no worries boys/girls,NO WORRIES.

  10. We will probably be in the same cap situation as I am assuming it will cost a few pennies to bring sheppard to the Jets. Great trade though if we can make it happen since it will get rid of robertson and bring a needed CB with superbowl experience to our team.

  11. Actually, Najy, Sheppard’s contract runs to 2011 and is approximately 4m per year on average.

  12. bent thats a bargain compared to the other pro bowl corners in the league!

  13. Make the trade and bring a pro bowl corner in to play opposite of Revis! With any kind of pass rush we could be really good against the brady passing game this year!

  14. The front office will wait for draft day, see who is available at six and then if it makes sense, make the trade and bring in Lito.

  15. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/hashmarks/0-6-157/Do-Broncos-have-competition-for-Robertson-.html

The way Williamson writes it, the Broncos have already hammered out a deal with D-Rob. That’s news to me, but it finally looks like the wheels are turning on this thing. If we can just pick a couple of extra draft picks–so the FO can have the flexibility to stock pile 34 guys or move-in on first day players they love (a la Harris and Revis)–and clear Roberstons cap charge, that would be a major coup. Players (especially of Sheppards ilk) and first day picks would be some unlikely, but very much appreciated cherries on a long awaited sundae.

  16. NEXT WEEKEND IS GOING TO BE FUN!

  17. DR will end up being traded for a 5th or 6th round pick on draft day. I think he’s worth more, but nobody wants his knees or contract…and he can be had on the cheap draft day.

I think he is a good 4-3 player, and will do well for another team.
