Metrics: 6-4, 226 lbs, 4.88 40yd,
Positives: Prototypical size. Smart, hardworking, understands how to break down coverage, has solid leadership skills. Good mechanics, touch & timing. Throws well on the run. Never had amazing receivers, which could be a big benefit in the Pros.
Negatives: Only average arm strength. Makes mistakes repeatedly. A BC beat writer told me at his Pro-Day “can he stop making the same mistakes over and over?” 600 passes, but still too many interceptions.
How He Fits Jets: Has experience running a pro-style offense, his smart and hardworking attitutude would be admired among the Jets. Has been compared to Pennington in his persona, and although all the physical tools aren’t off the charts special, he’s a safe pick who should become a solid starter.

If he truly is like Pennington and the Jets take him the Jets will lose a lot of fans.
HE IS BIGGER AND A LOT STRONGER THAN PENNINGTON HE COULD ACTUALLY THROW A BOMB DOWN FIELD WITHOUT GETTING HIS RECEIVERS KILLED AND HE SHOW HE CAN PLAY IN THAT BAD NEW ENGLAND WEATHER!

If he is like Pennington, then JUST KEEP PENNINGTON!!!! Why get someone LIKE Pennington when you already have Chad..????
I had a dream that we traded Pennington on Draft day. It is fuzzy as to what team he went too…

1. MATT RYAN, Boston College (6-4½, 225, 4.89, 1) – Started for 2½ seasons (25-7 record), breaking out as a senior. “This is a one-year aberration,” one scout said. “He threw 19 interceptions. C’mon. His best game was Virginia Tech. Other than that, what’s he got to hang his hat on?” Other personnel men admire his charisma, work ethic, smarts (28 on the Wonderlic intelligence test) and almost unflappable demeanor. “To me, his arm and athleticism are more like (Philip) Rivers,” Chicago GM Jerry Angelo said. “(Ben) Roethlisberger was athletic and could run some. This guy is not any of that. It’s not like he’s special with his arm strength or accuracy, mobility or strength. It’s his intangibles.” Posted an NFL passer rating of 83.2. Struggles reading underneath coverages. “I think he is NFL-ready mentally,” Seattle scout Charles Fisher said. “He can read the high safety. He can do that stuff. I don’t see a very strong arm. He takes some chances that he shouldn’t but he can read the defense.”
