With the 211th Pick …

The Jets select Nate Garner, OT from Arkansas.
Between Bent and I, we don’t know much about Garner, and we’re not sure how many games he even started as a senior, but he was used in backup for most of his undersclassmen years. My though is that he showed up on tape when they watched McFadden’s highlights. Garner is a 6′6″ 326 OT. Based on what we can find out, he seems to be a fundamentals guy, and with his size, might project to Right Tackle.

Okay. A right tackle project to mix in. Sounds like a Bender type with a lot of unknowns but possible strong upside. What else can you hope for at #211?
Still wished they would have gotten a DE for added depth but O-line assurance is good also
We will need a real RT this year. Nate led the way for McFadden. He was player of the week in the SEC for a game against Miss St. where he had 18 knockdowns on 62 snaps. It was a record for AR offensive linemen. I loved hearing that. He was second team All SEC O-Lineman. He likes to knock people down. It would be so nice if he turned into a mauler for us. Who would have thought Fabini would have been as good as he was for us. Go Nate.
He shd be a good backup for T/G for 2-3 yrs and then maybe step in when one of the old guys retire or contract is up. You cant go wrong with Arkansas OL’s. Having said that, I was expecting them to pick Arrigton WR from Michigan who got picked by Saints. He was always in the shadow of Manningham.
Nate came on his senior year to anchor the offensive line for the Razorbacks. Hard working, fundamental guy who is rock solid in the run game. Needs to work on footwork in the pass blocking game, however sure he can be coached up. Think you guys got a lineman with a lot of upside and a good quality person as well! Wish you had D-Mac to go along with him! Oh well……….
