Film Room: Erik Ainge Interview

by Bassett on April 28th, 2008 at 12:04 pm

Although it’s something of a fluff piece for Tennessee’s Phillip Fulmer Show, here’s a quick look into Erik Ainge and what he’s about.

Although we Jets fans would consider ourselves passionate, the scrutiny that Ainge would have in New York would pale in comparison to being in Knoxville. Although I was hoping for Josh Johnson, Ainge is a competitor and will fit right in with Pennington and Clemens in terms of work ethic and demeanor.

everyone can i say im crazy but this kid is going to be a really good starting QB for the jets. im calling a tom brady type deal with this late round pick hes not going to be as good as brady but im telling you this kid is going to be the best qb out of this class and this pick will be a very inportant one in jets history

Love the pick. Cole over at Yahoo called it a wasted pick. I just sent him the following question:

Do you have a sports editor who looks at your work before it’s published? I mean, calling Ainge a wasted pick has to be the most ignorant comment by a “professional” that I’ve read thus far on the ’08 draft. Aside from the fact that the Jets need a 3rd QB, the kid hasn’t even reported to the facility yet, and you have no idea how good or bad he will be. No clue. Odds are he’s a flyer pick, but to say it was a waste of a pick is just dead wrong. Why sign a retread whose limits are well known, when you can roll the dice on finding the next Tom Brady, and fill a roster need?

ed…i agree….to call anieg a wasted pick is pure stupidity…like charlie casserly said…there are no losers in this years draft…every1 seemed to get who or what they wanted to help their teams…
