Mike, that's the first I've heard anyone mention Justin Miller's name in awhile. I wonder how his rehab is going?

How about shipping Chris Baker's whining butt to Philly as part of a deal to bring Lito Sheppard here. LS may be another cry-baby who signed an under-valued deal, but at least he's got a few PRO BOWL appearances on his resume.

Prediction:
Justin Miller has a huge year at the 2nd cb spot and becomes the surprise of the year for the jets

Law's probably going back to the Patriots.

And, no, I don't think Poteat resigning means that Lowery is moving to S. As of right now, our DB depth chart would look like this (not counting the UDFA's)

CB - Revis, Coleman, Miller, Woolfolk
CB - Poteat, Barrett, Lowery, Boulay
S - Rhodes, Hawkins, Ihedigbo
S - Elam, Smith, Bing

Figure that Woolfolk, Boulay, Ihedigbo, and Bing don't make the cut. That would leave us with a safety crew of Rhodes, Elam, Artrell Hawkins and Eric "The Manimal" Smith. Hawkins and Smith are not outstanding, but they're decent enough backups that Lowery moving to S would not be a necessity, but merely an idea. On the CB side, however, Lowery would be in a competition with Barrett, Drew Coleman, and Justin Miller for the nickel spots, and that's assuming Barrett isn't cut for cap purposes.

I like keeping him at CB. More upside for the team if he sticks there... don't move him to S until we know he can't cover NFL receivers.

Miller's strengths are his speed and the fact that he is a pretty good tackler. His weaknesses are his technique and footwork, his inability to ever get his hands on the ball (8 passes defensed and no ints in 34 games) and his lack of smarts.

He also now has durability concerns to go with his off-field issues.

I don't have a whole lot of faith in his abilities as a corner, but here's hoping they can tap into his undoubted potential this year.

If Poteat makes the team, we are in serious trouble at CB. I would rather have Ty Law back. At least Ty can cover WRs.

I like Poteat! Prefer him starting as our second corner over Barrett. But it is probably a toss up between the two for the starting job, Believe Barrett started the first half of the season and Poteat started the second half of the season. Dont see Miller making an impact. Original report of his injury was a leg injury, Hamstring. Now it is reported that he is coming off a major knee injury/surgery. Just dont see him having the speed and agility after having surgery less than a year ago. Hopefully our new and imporved front 7 will get to the quarterback as well as with Big Jenkins can stop the run! I am excited for this season. The Buzz Killer will be seeing Chad Pennington as our starting QB. Just dont want to see his boring but effective at times short passing game on offense all season. He might give us a better chance to make the playoffs, but we have no chance doing anything in the playoffs with his poor arm that cant throw a line drive pass.

Wouldn't the re-signing of Poteat be a clue that the Jets are thinking of using Lowery as a safety?

I hope Lowery does not get a chance to compete at CB. I hope the coaches play him only at both safety positions. He lacks the measurables to compete at that position in our system.

We have had enough substandard CB entries recently.

Lowery has played S at a high level and his lack of speed will not hurt him at these two positions as much as it will doom him at CB.

Just my two cents...
