Jets Resign Hank Poteat

The Jets have re-signed cornerback Hank Poteat. It’s going to be a one year deal. Can’t seem to find any other terms of it, but we should know more in the coming days. Feel free to post your opinions on the matter in the comments, as I will have mine up by tomorrow!

  1. He’s a good veteran who can teach guys like Revis, Miller, Lowery, etc.

He will be a good 4th- 5th guy to include in the rotation and isn’t a bad option should some injuries hit the position.

I like it, he should provide some value to a young, unproven and somewhat weak position.

  2. A steal for the Jets. Given the needs at corner all over the league I’m surprised vets min was all he could manage.

  3. he fit great in our nickel packages great pick up for cheap i hope we could sign safety adam archuleta for the vet.minimum you cant have enough depth in the nfl.

  4. I liked him better than Barrett…. Still wish we had Dyson though.

  5. poteat is a solid player…not great…and for the price can’t complain…i still think miller will be the opening day starter…i think he has something to prove an he will…especially now thats its his contract year…just my thoughts…

  6. I had hoped the Jets would re up with him. He made a few plays for them last year and you can never have enough depth at corner.

  7. A good addition to depth at CB, but if he starts we are in trouble.

  8. On behalf of the Jets fanbase, I’d just like to thank Dewayne Robertson for freeing up cap space to get this solid vet back. haha

  9. does anyone watch Unique Whips? They did Dwayne’s H2 and he has “Ghetto” stitched into his headrest. I am even happier hes gone after seeing that.
Ugh, what a piece of trash.

  10. Some of you are stating him to be a good 4-5th option and if he starts were in trouble! Why? Who do u think started for us last year the last 9 games of the season- Poteat! Why did he start- because Barrett wasnt cutting it. Miller coming off major knee surgery- doubt he will be able to play effectively due to his surgery- but im not a DR. I see Poteat starting unless Lowery seems to be a total stud in Training Camp!

  11. Mr. Ed wins the Kewpie Doll. He be right. If Poteat starts, other teams will have an easier time passing against us than they should.

  12. well hes pretty good but probably not the starter i actuallly like lowery but i here he might play safety so i think the job probably goes to miller or barrett but hell be a nice 3 guy

  13. if their is a weak part of this 11 man defense it’s barrett i will love to see lowrey win the job him and revis could be a great duo for yrs. to come poteat and miller will be great for us in the nickelback if our front seven apply some pressure it’s possible we could be one of the top teams in interceptions in the league!

  14. hey reprocity….did u watch dyson play?? MR 10 YARD %@!@# CUSHION??? he was awful….no loss there.

  15. thought dyson played well… ?

  16. I hope Lowery is awsome

  17. The best guys will play! How many times do I have to tell you guys.

    E. M.

    lol

I think the key will be versatility (can they contribute on special teams, play multiple positions, etc) and the injury factor (someone will start, but they may not be the one that plays the most this year).

I like the pickups of Nate Lyles and Dwight Lowery.

  18. im glad this move finally happened… i feel this means they will release barrett before the season… poteat brings the same vet experience/ability that david barrett would bring but at a much lower price… in the reality we most likely carry 5 corners during the season it will be:
    Revis
    Coleman
    Poteat
Miller ( if healthy from last year )
    Lowery

  19. clemens….dyson was toilet. period. =) good riddance to david barret as well. CANT go with him at one corner….will bet he gets waived as a message to the rest of them.

  20. I thought Jake Boyman was toilet.

Anyway, Dyson’s awful tackle on Burress was arguably the turning point in two team’s seasons last year. Without that, the Giants probably don’t make the playoffs, Manning would still be regarded as a bust and Coughlin would be taking anger management classes and preparing for a career as an arena football analyst.

  21. Bent, actually, Coughlin and Eli owe their salvation to a former Jets OG. In the Jints Skins game, the Skins had the ball eventually on 4th and 1 at the end. The much over praised OG got pushed back so far so fast that he effectively tackled his RB running a sweep or OT to the left (hard to know which since he got his legs taken out by his own guy) blowing up the play. Just like he could not block for a yard here.

Dyson’s botched tackle was merely icing on the cake.
