    Double Boo.

  3. avatar 57jetsblitz says:

Yeah well Woody’s got more money then most third world countries so it figures. The best thing about sports is when we are in the green and white all of our diferences go out the window. I really don’t care who the guy next to me votes for as long as we smash the opposition into the dirt.

  4. avatar TOON2388 says:

    QUNITUPLE YEAH

  5. avatar Jason says:

    fifth boo

  6. avatar TOON2388 says:

where are the rest of my fellow anti-Liberals?

  7. avatar Seth (Rochester, NY) says:

    Here I am, go Woody!

  8. avatar JayM says:

    STRAIGHT TALK EXPRESS!!!! HAHAHAHAHA

Woody needs his medical supply company to get favors from McCain, yeah straight talk my ass.

  9. avatar Harvlis says:

Gotta love the job Repugnicants have done with our country. Is something good going on? I’d love to know what it is. What’s the number for the debt, lately? Oh, I forgot — that doesn’t matter. How much do you pay for gas? Oh, that must be Clinton’s fault. Gotta love the Iraq Occupation. Let’s hang out for a hundred years.

Wake up, Woody. The GOP will help you with your taxes, as the country crubles around you.

Woody — the same man who kept us in Jersey, when he had the opportunity to get us back to NY.

    Sell the team, you nightmare!

  10. avatar Rob says:

Politics aside, woody’s not been a bad owner. He wasn’t the one who kept the jets in jersey, it was your favorite basketball team’s owner-the highly esteemed Dolan family. Or are you a Net’s fan harvlis?

    Go woody!

  11. avatar HOZ THE JET says:

    republicans suck!

  12. avatar EssentialEducator says:

    Stanley Drunkenmiller is going…Jim’s father?

  13. avatar Jonathan says:

I wish McCain was actually as displeasing to Dems as many of you mistakenly believe he is.

I’m a DC-based professional Republican, and as such, have found McCain on the opposite side on most important battles over the last dozen years.

McCain as the standard-bearer of my party after disliking him for so long is as uneasy a feeling as Johnny Damon as a Yankee.

  14. avatar droseatwork says:

I like johnny mac. As a rep, I am sick of Bush, he f-d up!

  15. avatar Joe B. says:

Man, I used to like Woody.

  16. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

Let’s see, Hillary and Barry are for higher taxes on anyone making over $35,000. So it doesn’t take rocket science to figgure out why Woody is for McCain. The real question here is why is anyone with half a brain for higher taxes and more boondogle spending???

  17. avatar Harvlis says:

    Rob,

You’re more concerned about the Jets and Dolan than you are about paying $4 for a gallon of gas. Jonathan’s Republican, Criminal friends have buried this country. McCain is the guy telling everyone that things are rosy in Iraq. He is an old, deluded fool who has admitted he know’s nothing about how to heal the economy. That is the guy Woody is backing. No wonder the Jets have sucked under his tenure.

  18. avatar Reprocity says:

I’m a Democrat and we screwed up the west side stadium. Sheldon Silver mostly is to blame! How many times did you hear him say “2.2 BILLION!!! 2.2BILLION!!!.” Woody asked for 300 mill from the city and 300 mill from the state. Not for money as in a check but in a subsidy meaning he wouldn’t have to pay 600 mill worth of taxes. Yet Silver made it out to be like he was asking for a 2.2 billion check. Our elected Dems screwed that up. The next time some one wants to invest 1.6 billion into NYC let them build the dam thing where they want!

  19. avatar Reprocity says:

    O I forgot…. BOOOOO!!!!

  20. avatar 18andOne says:

Politics aside, this is a good move by Woody. He’s thinking ahead. McCain has really only done two things while a senator for the last 8 years. One, he investigated rigged boxing matches. Two, he investigated steroids in baseball. That’s pretty much the extent of his contribution to our country in the last 8 years, which is unfortunately probably more then 99% of the rest of Congress. I see this has a possible “get out of jail free card.” Similar to the Red Sox and the Mitchell investigation. Finally, Woody is using his privilaged up-bringing to at least do something for the Jets.

  21. avatar nyr2k2 says:

The Ed(itor), where did you get that 35k figure in regards to Obama? He said in April that he wouldn’t support a tax hike on anyone earning under 250k, and would offer a tax break to anyone earning less than 75k. He also discussed a tax cut for seniors and a $500 tax refund plan and Social Security supplement.

    From the Philadelphia debate:

“Q: Senator Obama, would you take the same pledge? No tax increases on people under $250,000?

OBAMA: I not only have pledged not to raise their taxes, I’ve been the first candidate in this race to specifically say I would cut their taxes. We are going to offset the payroll tax, the most regressive of our taxes, so that families who are middle-income individuals making $75,000 a year or less, that they would get a tax break so that families would see up to $1,000 worth of relief.

Q: You both have now just taken this pledge on people under $250,000 and $200,000.

OBAMA: Well, it depends on how you calculate it. But it would be between $200,000 and $250,000. ”

    Straight from the horses mouth.

  22. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

Let’s see, who has screwed up the price of gasoline? Lest you Libs forget it is the Liberal Dems who won’t allow drilling in Alaska, who won’t allow drilling off the US coast, who won’t allow us to build refineries and who won’t allow us to build nuclear plants. And these are the same Libs who brought us Ethanol with Gore passing the deciding vote as VP and Clinton signing the bill into law. Under this brilliant stroke of genius, we are now converting food into ethanol which is costing us more for our food. And these same brilliant members of congress won’t let Brazil export to us a better and cheaper ethanol. So let’s put the blame where the blame belongs, on the Liberal Democrats.

  23. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

And of course we all know that Barry is really a radical Muslim. Just look at his preacher of 20 years if you want to get really scared for the future of this country.

  24. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

Have you checked out Barry’s vote on letting the Bush tax cuts expire??? Both he and Hillary voted to let them expire which means everyone making over $35,000 is going to get a huge tax increase, thanks to the liberal dems. As to Barry, just another politician saying one thing and doing another.

  25. avatar nyr2k2 says:

    The Ed(itor)-

Unless there was sarcasm lost in internet translation, it’s statements like yours that make me fear for the future of the country.

  26. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

I am only reporting the facts, something the liberal press fails to do everyday.

  27. avatar nyr2k2 says:

It’s a fact that Obama is a radical muslim? Nice reporting there, Cronkite. Thank God for Fox News, where we all get the real scoop.

  28. avatar Jonathan says:

Well put on energy issue, Ed.

BTW, you would think that some of the Dems here would be less emotional, whiny, and catty, since this is usually blog populated by football fans. Some sound nearly as self-righteous and insufferable as Pete Kendall in front of a gaggle of reporters.

Speaking of which, maybe we should stick to football and keep politics out of this.

  29. avatar dakar says:

the war will never end if this guy’s the next president…and soon it will be mandatory to serve 2years in the military…before you know it…alot of kids will be sent to war and they wont even know why…but enough of politics…

  30. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

    I agree.

  31. avatar Matt in Virginia says:

If any of you Obama fans are that riled up about how your team’s owner is voting, you can switch to the Steelers. Dan Rooney came out for Obama in April.

Then again, Mangini is a Democrat.

  32. Hey, if I was building a billion dollar stadium, I vote for John McCain too.

“Hilliary’s changed her ‘hat’ style (Yankees, Cubs) so many times now, I don’t know what she looks like!”

    - Life During Election Time, Talking Heads

And, just because Barack can play doesn’t mean he should. Just imagine:

    Raider Nation;
    Red Sox Nation
    Obama Nation?

    Ha Ha Ha

  33. avatar dakar says:

i haven’t heard anything until now that obama is a radical muslim…thats funny…

but if there is any 1 who is a radical…it is bush and his regime and their cursading efforts to murder women and children to takeover a oil pipeline…this war has nothing to do with religion…its about greed and the lust for power…but agian…enough of politics…

  34. avatar Johnny Styne says:

Gratuitous joke that should have been posted thirty posts ago –

“McCain’s got a better arm than Pennington” –

    Thank you –

  35. avatar jesse says:

as tempted as i am to booooooo this decision… wel i just did…. i will say, this space should have nothing to do with politics right now. kind of disappointing to hear, but i will be fine. especially when mccain loses. oops, i guess i let that last one slip….. okay, no more politics from here on!

  36. avatar Jonathan says:

This just in. Walsh turned in 8 tapes:

  37. avatar dave says:

Wow, i’m surprised at how docile these comments were. Basset, you set the stage for the proverbial message board blood bath. Yikes budday!

Unfortunately, it seems like the book is closed on spygate, right?

A couple days ago, I opened up the ESPN frontpage, and the top 6 most recent stories were all about player discipline. Michael Boley beat up some poor woman, Cedric Benson got drunk (well, people in glass houses….etc), and Marvin Harrison is shooting people with antique pistols. EASY NFL!

  38. avatar GREEN HORNET says:

I never insult people directly, therefor Mr. ED (as a horse) or Ed(itor) if you lived in ancient Rome your name would be MORONIUS IDIOTUS MAXIMUS.

  39. avatar JayM says:

The Ed(itor) if you had a half a brain you would be dangerous good thing Rush Limbuger tells you what to think.

“Let’s see, who has screwed up the price of gasoline? Lest you Libs forget it is the Liberal Dems who won’t allow drilling in Alaska, who won’t allow drilling off the US coast, who won’t allow us to build refineries and who won’t allow us to build nuclear plants.”

    WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The price of gas is up because Bush and his policy of printing money, has devalued the dollar so much that the value is keeping track with the falling dollar. So blame the so called conservative republicans who spent our money like drunken sailors and wasted it on the cooks in Iraq (Halliburton).

If they wanted to drill in Alaska or try and build a nuke plant tomorrow it won’t come on-line till 12 years from now. So go back and listen to Rush to make sure you can be one of his DITTO HEADS and act like the sheep that you are ROFL.

  40. avatar JayM says:

So blame the so called conservative republicans who spent our money like drunken sailors and wasted it on the CROOKS in Iraq (Halliburton).

  41. avatar Agony85 says:

it makes me sick to my stomach to think that we might be stuck with another president like bush for another four years and possibly 8. and yes he will be like bush, possibly worse. we need a president that will get our troops out, and get us out of this recession, not a pro war scumbag like mccain who will only do the opposite, while giving tax breaks to big business owners like the waltons and any scumbag oil company. but if you dont agree with me, well thats your opinion, but you probably make over 50,000 a year, or you dont have a brain in your head. or both

  42. avatar Agony85 says:

Bill messed up with NAFTA, and with that girl, but all in all he did an excellent job. we went from way in the plus to way in the minus when bush took over. Today the dollar isn’t worth near what it used to. can’t remeber the specifics. and one other thing………..

    BOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

  43. avatar neilherschkowitz says:

WOW…the baby powder lobby is in. I guess whatever country supplies the main ingredients for Woodmans products will soon be declared as having weapons of mass destruction by senile old bat Republican candidate McCain.

Golly gee Woodster wake up. Do you think your fan base is better off then they were 8 years ago. Get a clue….think about something other then your bank account.

  44. avatar neilherschkowitz says:

Politics and football just don’t mix. We watch football to forget about the self serving, poll taking, self absorbed, stay in power, mindless, numb, moronic, lying, scheming, manipulative politicians.

Did I mention the big W just was rated by a very accurate gallop pole as the worst president in modern history. Fact is McCain is almost as stupid as W…OK his IQ might break 100, but he is 71, has a bad temper, and is pretty much an Arizona Redneck.

Sure BIG WOODY supports him…..he is a trust fund baby that inherited all his money and can’t make change for a dollar. Never did an honest days work in his life.

  45. avatar neilherschkowitz says:

Look I’ve been told by an unnamed source that Hillary is a big Jets fan.

On a flight between here and England last year, I had my laptop tuned into the Jets Giants game….field box they call it.

Hillary was of course up in first class, but some sort of problem developed with the first class bathroom facility.

Hillary got stuck In line and ended up sitting in the vacant seat next to me. “Hey” is that the game you’re listening to?”. Sure thing Hillary, I said to her. So “who’s winning” Ms. Clinton replies…Jets are down by 7, but its nt over….Humm, says Miss Hillary…I have always been a big Jets fan since Joe Willie did those Noxema commercials..

Way to go Hillary…so Real Jet Fans should immediately go online and make a hefty contribution to her campaign…a vote for Hillary is a vote against WOODSTER

  46. avatar neilherschkowitz says:

Hey ED…who in gods name is Barry? Do you not know the correct name of the democratic front runner? I think George called him Barry just the other day.

  47. avatar Nikolas says:

The funny think is that Football is a team game. We love it because it is a TEAM game.
The republican philosophy of individualism and selfishness are concepts that make us puke in football. Hence, consistency requires that the Woody supporters from now on must quit football…. and start watching tennis!

  48. avatar J. says:

I’m not surprised. The Republicans have been very good for the very rich and the very wacky. They arrived in Washington with the express intent of strangling the Beast. Lower taxes and higher public debt decrease our ability to maintain public infrastructure. As we’ve seen in New Orleans, government is unable to respond to disaster. No matter. The Republicans core constituents will get out. The very rich will be airlifted and the nutter based will be Raptured away. In both cases, the unworthy are left to suffer.

  49. avatar Bent says:

While I don’t think this is the blog for political discussion, you guys have at it. Just watch the personal insults and PLEASE don’t let the political discussion cross over into any other threads.

PS – Booooo (Bassett mentioned the Dolphins).

  50. avatar DCMike says:

That’a boy Woody. Beat those Boston liberals in the election just like the Jets are going to beat them on the field!

  51. avatar Andre says:

Johhny Mac is the man. Read that guys bio on wikipedia, its like reading a screen play.

Yea Woody, I’m proud to be a Jets fan.

Republicans baby, take it to em.

  52. avatar DSmizzle says:

I’m a long-time, unwavering Democrat but if Hillary is a JETS fan, I’m ordering a Tom Brady jersey TODAY!!!

  53. avatar kreplech says:

John McCain is about as fit to be president as Joe Namath. Fellow knuckledragging Jets fans: that’s an insult.

  54. The Editor – the one thing you are absolutely not reporting on is the facts. Your opinion, yes, and a few selective facts taken entirely out of context, yes. You should run for office.

  55. avatar dave says:

Ed, two words for you: Billy & Graham. Go take a look see at who has been the spiritual adviser for the majority of our recent presidents, and maybe do some research on his opinions about certain groups of people. I’ll give you a hint for a place to start: “Jews”

And maybe you should check out the recent documents that the white house was forced to divest by court order if you think the “liberal” media is failing to purport the facts. vague comments backed up by stereotyped assessments loaded with an “us” and “them” mentality is exactly what’s gotten this country off track; there’s no need to throw fuel to the fire, Eddy. “Obama is a muslim” is for all intents and purposes the tagline of the ignorant in this country.

Anyone else see that the Cowboys are flirting with Chris Henry? Too bad Ed Gein isn’t still alive, maybe he’d want to strap on some pads for the ‘boys. Thank god HBO is going to document that mayhem this summer in “Hard KNocks”

  56. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

What I love about Liberal Dems is that when they can’t use logic or facts to make you agree with them, then they start talking louder to talk over you and then they start calling you names.
Fact: Barack “Barry” Obama was born a Muslim.
Fact: The Reverend Billy Graham never called our country The “God Damn” United States of America. Obama’s pastor of 20 years did.
Fact: Billy Graham never accused the US of creating aids to wipe out African Americans. Obama’s pastor of 20 years did.
Fact: Everyone making over $35,000 will get a tax increase because Hillary, Obama and the rest of the Dems voted not to extend the Bush tax cuts. So how can they both lie about not voting to increase taxes?
Fact: Increased taxes never spur increased spending and will never help the country get out of a “recession, downturn or whatever we are currently in.”

  57. avatar Rich says:

Everybody calm down. Let’s determine who’s administartion would be best for the Jets. Obama’s from Chicago–probably a Bears fan. McCain from Arizona–stuck with the Cardinals. Hillary’s a lifelong fan of whatever team plays in the city she’s currently in. So–maybe Woody will throw a Jets helmet into the ring and just run himself!

  58. avatar kev says:

I have not posted a comment in three months but Ed(itor)’s stupidity prompted me to do so. Only fact here my friend is that your up side is your down side. Stick with porn, you’re better off.

  59. avatar JayM says:

hey Ed where are your facts concerning the high price of oil? It seems you can’t take the truth about that one.

The so called conservative republicans who spent your money now we are in DEBT.

And don’t give me the horse crap that debt is good, there is interest charged to that debt that you and your conservative friends seem to enjoy.

  60. avatar nyr2k2 says:

Obama was not born Muslim. His father was Muslim, but both of his parents were professed atheists.

  61. avatar buddha says:

All of you conservatives should look at one of the few true conservatives left in the Republican Party: Ron Paul!

    http://www.ronpaul2008.com

  62. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

Fact: The price of all is based upon suplly and demand. The OPEC countries are resticing supply which is driving up the price of oil, not any Republican policies.
Fact: The democrats control both houses of congress. What have they done about this problem. Answer- Nothing.
Fact: If we drilled in Anwar in Alaska, we would have more supply which would drive oil prices down. The Liberal Dems will not allow drilling in Alaska or off pur coasts. But the Chinese will soon be drilling off our coast.
Fact: Nuclear power is the answer to clean efficient energy but the liberal Dems will not allow any nuclear plants to be built.
Fact: We have not buoilt a new refinery in the US in over 35 years, compounding the supply vs demand problem.
What is Obama’s solution to this? Higher taxes. Sounds like a sure way to help us get out of a recession or whatever the economy is in right now.

    Rather than making

  63. avatar My Pet Goat says:

Fact: There are some ignorant blowhards on this message board.
