It has been determined by John Clayton of ESPN that the Jets will get exactly $4,903,030 to sign all of their rookies this year. Every team has a different rookie cap. Herm Edwards will have the most money to spend, as his Chiefs got over $8 million to spend, what with their two first round picks, and four more of those came in the top 100 overall.
So will 5 million bucks be enough for the Jets to sign all of the rookies they have coming out of rookie minicamp? We’ll have to wait and see if they decide to dump some more UDFA’s as I assume the draftees will the be the first ones in line to receive contracts. How many players do you think the Jets will have to release? Also, you can name some notable ones you think will be released in the comments (i.e. Danny Woodhead).

is it too early to start looking at salary cap casualties from other teams for the jets to sign at CB?

Not to be a broken record but . . . for the umpteenth time a post by “Mack Rosenberg”, whoever the hell that is, that is just off point and wrong.

Bent, I don’t think the lower picks count against the cap. IIRC, only approximately the top 53 salaries count. The others are “free” (IOW they come out of McCain mongerers’ pocket).
Also, IIRC, the number of salaries counting changes.

Mack is just some little boy that does this for a hobby. Be nice to him – he’s trying.

Whats up Mack, we appreciate you man. David Barrett is going to be cut to save the team roughly four million dollars this offseason. DT Marcus Tubbs would be a great pickup after June 1st. It looks like the Seahawks are going to cut him and he is stout and at 6’3 320 pounds we could play him at DE on run plays. Depth at the D-line is always good.

im just worried is 5 mill enough 2 cover gholstens salary and they should defanantly sighn danny woodhead out of the udfa’s

They’re not gonna cut barrett – as bad as he is, he’s one of the better options across from revis

The slotting system give each draft position an amount, the total of which is your 4.9M for the Jets. The Jets can sweeten the deal with incentives and delayed bonuses, but everybody gets a cut. So, yes, there is enough to sign all the rookies.
