James Hardy Allegedly Pulls Gun on Father
Well the receiver that many folks wanted the Jets to get during the draft, James Hardy, apparently had himself a rather nice Mother’s Day by pulling a gun on his father during an argument.
Police Spokesperson Michael Joyner says officers responded to a 911 call. According to a police report, Hardy was arguing with his father at a house when he either pulled, or displayed a gun in some manner. Hardy left the scene before police arrived.
Wow. I have no idea what the relationships is between father and son, but it’s safe to say it’s probably not as wholesome as Buster and George Senior’s. He might very well be a great talent, but you can see why the Jets might have been hesitant to invest in him.

Because it was character that was the knock on him I’m glad that he’s not a Jet.
Just goes to show how important proper scouting is and how this FO does a good job of culling the bad apples.
If they got it right on Keller, who appears to be the total opposite of Hardy, and based on their prior picks, personnel is improving year over year the way it should be.
Dodged that Bullet. HaHa I crack me up
Welcome to the NFL, seems like he’s already fitting in just fine. I’m sure the Bengals are wondering why they didn’t take this guy!
man this guy must really hate his father…anyway, thank god the jets stayed away from him…i wanted him but im glad he’s wasn’t drafted by us…the keller pick is becoming more and more pleasing as we get closer to the season…just my thoughts
I love the media in NY… There is so much pressure on first round picks here to start with but a some other guy pulls a gun out on his dad and Keller looks like a better pick! Way to go for not pulling a gun out on anybody! Keep up the good work! All kidding aside, I agree with every one here that Keller was def a great pick and the FO did a very good job not drafting Hardy. I’m def one of those fans who feel we lean a little to much twoards character and not overall talent but I guess it’s things like this that serve as a reminder. Great pun green guy!
I didn’t know hardy was a Bill! wow a punt returner in the first round and the last boyscout in the second! Ok now I’m done with the joking.
First Lebron commands Mom to sit her A$$ down,; and, now Hardy shoots Dad and splits the scene.
Looks like the James Brothers should have attended Mangini’s worthy charity instead?
Additionally, am I alone in thinkin’ the Bowling Event would be a perfect photo opp for Two and a Half Men Child Star as Eric Mangini’s Mini Me and Charlie Sheen’s wardrobe in general?
See for you yourself:

This makes Hardy a lock to become a great pro. Give him a few years and he will be vacationing with Ocho Cinco, Randy Moss, and TO. In our ‘Trash Loving’ society, he is another American Hero in the making.
harvlis
i wouldn’t be suprised…
How nice, go for a visit with the family and pack a gun, just in case dad gets out of line.
I agree with Harvlis.
You need a “killer” mentality to make it in the NFL.
I wonder how long a suspension this is??
could you imagine pulling a gun out while arguing with your father…what am i talking about…i couldn’t even argue with my father…theres no disciplin these days…whats this country coming to…pathetic
18 and 1 – my thoughts exactly as soon as I read it – we missed out on some great comedy by cinci not drafting this guy.
Add “fathers” to the list of things that James “Just Keepin It Real” Hardy” doesn’t like. Right along side women and children.
Just a comment regarding fathers:
Marvin Gaye may wish he had one.
A gun that is.
No, no, you misinterpreted the story.
He pulled a gun on his father because his father was covering him and he was trying to get open.
James Hardy is a receiver committed to his craft. He’s willing to do ANYTHING to get downfield separation.
for all you hardy lovers….
heres another good reason why we DIDNT draft this guy.
Well at least he went to a division rival, which means they blew a second round pick. Hopefully we won’t have to worry about him.
As a friend of Hardy’s at Indiana, most people on here dont understand the situation but thats understandable.
Hardys dad was in jail for most of his childhood and to this day James has a tough time with that. They have an up and down relationship but for the most part are on good terms.
Ive personally met and hung out with both James and his dad less than a year ago, they were fine. This incident occured on mothers day so you can put 2 and 2 together and figure they were arguing about his past. His father is not the best of role models, give em a break. The gun is registered to him and he carries it as protection, it was a misunderstanding.
He is a ridiculous athlete and thrived unter the mentoring of Coach Hep, a great man who will be missed RIP coach. He was a father figure to James and I believe with further guidence, determination, and discipline he will cause fits in the AFC east. I would still love to see him in green under Mangini’s leadership.
