We Almost Had Another Media Story About Belichick and Mangini Hugging … Almost

It looks like this weekend that Belichick and Mangini will miss seeing each other by a few hours at their alma mater.

This weekend is the Reunion and Commencement Ceremonies for Wesleyan, and there’s some interesting events taking place in Middletown, CT.  First is that Bill Belichick was voted into the Wesleyan Hall of Fame, second is that this is Mangini’s 15th class reunion and third is that Senator Barack Obama will be standing in for the ailing Ted Kennedy, who was set to address the graduating class.

Mangini said he would travel today to Wesleyan for his 15th reunion and stay for Obama’s speech. Mangini, 37, described the student body as diverse racially, and socio-economically, and filled with students who challenged his beliefs.

“It doesn’t necessarily teach you one craft, it teaches you how to think,” he said.  “I never thought that I would be a football coach when I went to Wesleyan.”

Belichick is returning to Massachusetts this weekend, as there are NCAA Lacrosse matches being held at Foxboro, which is one of the other sports Belichick loves.  Ah well, I’m sure Mangini & Belichick will hang out together real soon.
