Pace Likes the ‘Little Things’

by Bassett on May 30th, 2008 at 11:50 am

I’m sure the contract didn’t hurt, but it seems that it was the little details that made Calvin Pace want to play in New York.   It seems that it was Downward Dog and that the stomach and are the ways to the Calvin’s heart.

Hutch has the story in the Star-Ledger.

Pace said it wasn’t the money — or the helicopter ride from Long Island to the team’s new training complex in Florham Park during his recruiting visit — that made him chose the Jets over the Dolphins.”It’s the little things,” said Pace, who spent his first five seasons in Arizona. “You don’t need valet service. You just want people to show you it’s all about trying to win. (The Jets) laid things out as far as yoga classes, the Pilates, training staff. Those are things I’ve never seen before in the NFL.

“Things like lunch and breakfast before you work out. I’ve never had that. (In Arizona), you had to eat before you came and it was your job to eat when you left.”

The Bidwells didn’t provide little extras to their players like meals and extra conditioning options? Shocker!!

David Harris, who almost threw up on his chopper trip with Pace, might not be so happy to hear that wasn’t exactly the thing that sealed the deal. If he had known, I’m sure Harris would have rather baked Pace some brownies.

I’m not shocked that the Bidwells weren’t going the extra mile, but if this is the reason that he chose the Jets over the Dolphins then I AM surprised that Tuna and company weren’t offering this as well.

Apparently a mint on the pillow and a promise that there was going to be more members of the Flight Crew went a long way.

Lets cut this guy some slack and let him fly off the line. He will ge ten sacks off the edge and make everyone better.

Fonzies hit it on the nose ! Ten sacks is realistic !
Got my Pace Jersey ready to go opening day !

Wear it with pride because he will make a great impact over Vilma. He already has influenced B. Thomas by lighting a fire under his butt. Since we got Vernon I have been saying that we will come close to breaking our club record for sacks this year. Remember what the experts were saying about Golhston taking plays off even games off? don’t believe it. He is a very smart dude and no one can go 100% for 100% of the time especialy being double and sometimes triple teamed.

PS. I guess these “experts” never heard of the law of diminishing returns.

    It’s going to be a great year ! I can’t wait

The whole team has been pumped-up because of free agency. All the players now know the FO is dead serious about performance. From Rhodes to B. Thomas they have a new attitude. Add to that our new and improved rookie squad and you have the makings of something great. Can you imagine what this team can look like with one more draft? We will be dominant. It’s a new dawn and what a difference a day makes.

Seeing is believing every year I drink this “We’re Going All the Way” Kool Aid to once again have my hopes come crashing down. Let’s see in week 6 what their record is then we can determine better what type of team we have? I am pumped but not because i think we’re going to dominate but because we do have some fresh blood and I am looking forward in seeing them progress

I’m looking forward to this year. Remember with the jets you can’t determine what kind of team they have by week six. I also have been disapointed oh so many times.

    sounds like Arizona sucks

Do you think Thomas Jones told Pace about the little things.

Part of the fun IS drinking the kool-aide. Fresh blood always brings fresh hope and the will to dominate Seeing it done just doubles the pleasure
