In the long run, steroids and other bulk-building performance enhancers are bad for ligaments because your body and its tendons, joints, etc., are is only built to carry a certain muscle/weight load. So when your biceps and triceps and shoulders, etc. get absurdly massive, it overtaxes them, and causes a lot of problems in the long-run for long-term users.

The one point of disagreement I have with Ramble is the following:

You alluded to the fact that Gholston's combine numbers help prove he isn't on the juice. I totally disagree. If you use steroids the right way (and there are a bunch of different ways to train/cycle on steroids, you can train for either body-builder-type size with definition, balance, and pure mass and vascularity being your only goals, whereas if you trained for the combine and/or football, you'd be doing different types of workouts and it will maker you faster, bigger, stronger and even more agile if you stretch your now-absurdly-massive muscles appropriately. It is also said to potentially improve hand-eye coordination.

Aside from the long-term effects on the joints which makes injuries possible (though certainly not guaranteed), the only negative effects are the very real and very dangerous LONG TERM bodily damage you can do to yourself (your heart, liver, potential cancer, etc.)

Genetics, proper diet and an unbelievablea mount of working out equals Vernon Gholston. He has been into working out since Junior High School. This is before he was recruited for his high school football team. Also, he was not in a family situation to financially be able to afford steroids on the basis required to have maintained not just his physique but the strenght /health of his tendons and ligaments. If he juiced up and stopped, he would have had an injury prone college career.

ramble, good point. Although I am sure steriods and HGH will get you results, you don't necessarily need them. Look at all the junk they have at GNC or even at the local supermarket. That stuff can make you huge as well.

Let's hope it's not the Juice and its aunatural, because if its natural then he is a freak of nature and shuld wreak havoc on the field.

IMO, its not the juice, I say this because of his combine performance. The juice has a way of enhancing some things but decrease other things. Not only is he strong, but he is fast, agile, and he can jump. This goes along with sec108's post about ligaments, and tendons.
