Its so sad that we have to compare chad and kellen to Farve... If farve was reading this right now hed think we we are all moron's... all i kno is that jet fans have waited 40 years and if adding a 38-39 year old QB who is WAY better then our 31 and 24 year old qb then i say get him... age is not a factor when it comes to farve and maybe he can teach chad on how to throw more TD's then INT's even when you have 18-20 INTs in a season... ive waited to long and have suffered to much to see another season where i just want to blow my brains out... so let the geaser play and enjoy this season

Marino at his best was better than Favre at his best. Also Shula is one of the most over rated coaches in football. He couldn't build a decent defense after all those years. Yikes!!!!

JustAGreenGuy, Marino played in 15 less games during his careeer.

I personally think that Marino was the better QB, but not by much. If they could have Favre for a season or two I would do it, depending on the cost of it.

Harvlis, I agree with you, that it is highly unlikely Favre would come here. I was just trying find out why there are Jet fans who wouldn't want him on our team.

I think it's at least a reasonably fair comparison because there are fewer positions in basketball, so if he's top 50 all time then that probably puts him on the same level as Favre. Both are hall of famers that are getting up there in age, whereas I still see Allen and Garnett as (just about) in their prime (and it showed in the finals). Point taken that Miller had been out of the game though, but hopefully you can see how the analogy I made could illustrate the potential downside.

Favre is awesome and his whole career has been littered with fairytale moments. But he did look like an old man at the end of that Giants game.

Let's hope the Jets running game and defense also drastically improves and leads to a similar upswing in QB play - whoever that guy is.

Favre must be special if you're in his corner and he's only 6-2!!!

Bent, not a fair comparison between Favre and Miller, who was out of the game and was never considered to be among the 5 best ever at his position all-time. Also, I think there was no mystery to the Favre resurgence...the Pack's running game and defense drastically improved, so Favre didn't have to chuck over 600 passes. Favre's 2007 was among the best in his storied career, including his best ever completion pct. Favre's physical condition and arm-strength haven't been questioned, it was his desire to be the proverbial "one-arm paper hanger" on a dismal team or continue going through the rigors of the NFL. Like Montana with the Chiefs, I think Favre could have a couple good years with the Jets. But, it won't happen.

Paul- Marino missed whole seasons with knee injurys. Favres durability is what he is known for. If Marino had stayed healthy Favre wouldn't have touched his record.

BTW I hate Marino too

Pete,
There is no down side to getting Brett Favre. What I said was - It isn't happening so, stop dreaming. If you were Favre, would you come to a 4-12 team, far from home, no outstanding wideouts, questionable O-Line with no back-ups, questionable defense, young coaching staff that looked like crap last year, and playing in the swamps of New Jersey! No Shot!

Sack, I don't like to draw parallels between the Jets and Celts, because most here don't identify with them. But since you threw it out there, I'd say adding Favre would be more like Boston adding Reggie Miller, which the Celts almost did, but I was glad when they didn't.

btw I love Favre. Living legend. However, after 2006 everyone thought he was done. They were wrong because he had one year left in him, but did he have two or three? Not sure.

BREAKING NEWS: Senior reporter Mitch Davidson of the New York Daily News is now reporting that all involved with the New York Times have WAY too much free time on their hands. Brett Favre has denied all rumors that he will be traded to the Jets, and plans on remaining happily retired...... To win his ultimate quest for Mary, cause there's just something about that girl........
