Both are hall of famers that are getting up there in age, whereas I still see Allen and Garnett as (just about) in their prime (and it showed in the finals). Point taken that Miller had been out of the game though, but hopefully you can see how the analogy I made could illustrate the potential downside. Favre is awesome and his whole career has been littered with fairytale moments. But he did look like an old man at the end of that Giants game. Let's hope the Jets running game and defense also drastically improves and leads to a similar upswing in QB play - whoever that guy is. Favre must be special if you're in his corner and he's only 6-2!!! Also, I think there was no mystery to the Favre resurgence...the Pack's running game and defense drastically improved, so Favre didn't have to chuck over 600 passes. Favre's 2007 was among the best in his storied career, including his best ever completion pct. Favre's physical condition and arm-strength haven't been questioned, it was his desire to be the proverbial "one-arm paper hanger" on a dismal team or continue going through the rigors of the NFL. Like Montana with the Chiefs, I think Favre could have a couple good years with the Jets. But, it won't happen.
