The Jets just announced the waiving of WR/KR Ashlan Davis, DB Kenny Patton and RB/FB Justin Valentine. Although these moves might seem inconsequential, here’s two things we can learn from them, after the jump.
Close to Draft Signings? – With rookies due to report in just over a week, are the Jets making way for some of their drafted rookies? The Jets have signed two of their draft picks, WR Marcus Henry and OL Nate Garner, but have four picks (Gholston, Keller, Lowery & Ainge) who still need to be signed.
Jehuu to Backup Tony? – Jehuu Caulcrick, a Fullback/short yardage back who the Jets signed as an UDFA in May might be a player that the Jets look to use as a backup to the aging Tony Richardson. Beating out Justin Valentine who has a track record of blocking for both Marion Barber III and Laurence Maroney is pretty impressive, but Caulcrick seems to be the more valuable player to the team as of now. AJ Schable formerly of the Eagles will still be a player Caulcrick needs to fight for a spot on this team.

Yea I know, I’m just eager, this seasons going to be BIG!

“Right behind Richardson on the depth chart as of today is probably Pociask.”
You mean that AWESOME young tight end who is supposed to be our #2 traditional TE once management tells Baker to screw off?

Does anyone really feel that strongly about Pociask?

I can’t believe they already cut Justin Valentine, but more importantly when are they going to start signing these damn guys?
