Keller Both Stylish & Sensible

by Bassett on July 9th, 2008 at 11:20 am

Dustin Keller, who already hooked his mom up with a sweet BMW as a thank you after the Draft for all his mother had done for him, was back in the car market and got himself something that looks good, but that won’t unnecessarily empty his wallet.

The Range Rover that Keller drove off the lot Thursday is a 2006 model, with 30,000 miles on it.

Farmer said a new model with all the features would cost more than $100,000, but Keller wasn’t anxious to spend that much money.

“I just don’t want to spend a whole bunch of money right now,” Keller said. “It’s my first contract, the first time with real money, so I want to be careful. I wanted to find something that I really liked at a decent price.”

I’m glad to see that he’s got some foresight about things.  Yes he’s in his early 20s and excited about new toys, but he’s trying to be practical about it.  Compare that to a guy like Chris Henry, who now can’t afford to even pay for a transcript from his last trial.

And a hell of a lot smarter than chris baker! And I will bet anyone he won’t be parking in the JETS president’s parking space anytime soon.

Did we sign him to a contract yet? whats going on with our rookies and contracts, any word on vernon gholston?

  3. avatar Bassett says:

    hi ham …

no word on either signing, but you’d have to imagine it’s close. with the team jettisoning three players this week already (and four drafted players without contracts, they’re close

Based on recent history, you can expect to see Gholston signed on about the 23rd, Keller on the 22nd and Ainge and Lowery during the weekend before that. Camp opens on the 24th.

Barring an unexpected change in policy, they will wait until the rookies report (16th) to conclude negotiations with the top three or four picks.

Practical? Are you kidding me? What kind of gas price is he paying?

A few years back I was at training camp and walked through the lot, all the fancy cars, and then there was a Toyota Tercel (Ray Mickens), and a Chevy Malibu (Jerald Sowell). The security guard said that those two had the same cars they had in coleege and saved every penny, At least there are a few smart ones.

Ray Mickens and Jerald Sowell were awsome.

I’d love to see a rocked up 242 6″2″ dude rolling around in a Prius powered by a blender engine! :)

    Basset,

You can be green and impractical at the same time, just buy a Tesla:

Seems like a Tesla is more Kerry “Hollywood” Rhodes’ style than Keller’s, though.

Bassett, I’ll do you one better! Keller, Gholston, Ainge and Garner car pooling to work in a Prius. Wouldn’t that be something.
