Jets Rookies Report Today

Today, Jets drafted and undrafted rookies (along with a few players like Etienne Boulay, etc.) are moving into dorms out at Hofstra a week earlier than their veteran counterparts.  With only eight days to go until the start of training camp (want to meet us there on Day One?) it’s time to start the official countdown to camp, and more importantly, until the rookies sign.

Tannenbaum is known for getting his guys in camp on time, a streak that was broken last year with Darrelle Revis’ protracted hold-out over the sixth year of a contract.  All the same, with two top picks and their four top players yet to be signed, expect to see deals done with CB Dwight Lowery and QB Eric Ainge at least a few days before camp opens, but Gholston and Keller could be tougher to nail down due to the circumstances of contracts surrounding them for Gholston, there’s been little word on deals for Glenn Dorsey or Sedrick Ellis and the same holds true for Dustin Keller’s bookends Kentwan Balmer and Kenny Phillips, but last year’s contracts for those picks can serve as guides.

Even so, I’m expecting to see Nos. 56 & 81 on the field Thursday.
