2007-08 Jetsies: Best Veteran Acquisition
Thank you to everyone who voted for TJB’s first annual Jetsies Awards, where you get to choose your favorites from the previous season. Over the course of the next week, we will be revealing to you who won what.
Although there weren’t a lot of veteran free agents that the team brought in to make contributions to the club, it’s clear that there’s one that was worthy of Best Veteran Acquisition. Thomas Jones. Although Jones’ first year wasn’t exactly what many envisioned, it was clear that it wasn’t all his fault, and you the fans didn’t hold it against him either. Even amidst a struggling offensive line, still Jones ran for over 1,000 yards and one TD. More than just his statistics, Jones was a leader of the backfield, inspiring other players to put in more time in the weight and film rooms. Seen above celebrating his only rushing TD, you can tell that everyone was just as happy for him as he was. Expect to see a few more of these in the coming season.

since we are going to be dedicated to the run this year…i think TJ and LEON will be our 2 main guys on the field…i dont think chatman and/or smith will take carries away from TJ OR LEON…they might come in on a play here or a play there but not in every game…i expect TJ to break the 1400 yard mark and score 8-10 TD’s…and leon will also break a 1000 yards and score a few times aswell…these are not thoughts of dreams but are thoughts soon to become reality…and they are…just my thoughts…
You know, I’m not sure the JETS are going to completely turn their “O” into a running game, not with the Keller pick staring me in the face. IMHO, I believe the JETS will have a more balanced “O” one which can’t be locked on to easily. The Offensive line is much improved, not so much for the running game(although it has by leaps and bounds)but in fact to protect the QB’s and give them time to set up, with Coles, Cotchery, and Keller, not to mention Chris Baker(if he’s still here and not a distraction) will prove to be very difficult to contain. Now throw in the running game and I think your going to see a well balanced Offense, which leads me to the Defense, we were tired and beaten up last season, not because we were not good, but the Defense was on the field the majority of the time because the Offense couldn’t score or move the ball long enough to give the Defense a rest. This year it will be different with Fanica and Woody, their will be more continuity on the line that will translate to a better rested defense.
That’s a great picture ! You can see how together that group is. It’s great to see that because all about team chemestry. Games are won on the field but championships are won in the clubhouse.
Mangini is an old fashioned coach in that he believes you must run the ball and stop the run. With Keller in the fold stretching the box, running the ball will be that much easier. Look for TJ&LW to have 2200-2300 yds rushing !
…each. Right, Fonzie?
:o)
Wouldn’t that be great …each. I truly expect some BIG things from all the Jets. Right, Bent?
