Thank you to everyone who voted for TJB’s second annual Jetsies Awards, where you get to choose your favorites from the previous season. Over the course of the next week, we will be revealing to you who won what.
Francis Bacon once said that “by far the best proof is experience.”
We’re not sure what that means, but we do know that the best proof must belong to Rich Cimini, the Jets beatwriter for the Daily News for the Jets. Rich has been on the Jets beat since 1996 for “New York City’s Hometown Newspaper” and who wrote for Newsday on the Jets beat before that. With that in mind, it’s hardly surprising that Rich won the Jetsys for having the Best Beatwriters Blog, The Jets Stream, and for Best Beatwriter.
As great as Rich is, we’re concerned he might ask for another cash prize like last year at Day One of Training Camp. Anyone got some small bills I can borrow?

Cannizzaro writes on a 4th grade level (like everyone else who writes for that rag). I can only read his articles if I’m half awake or hungover.
-
I agree with John. Most visitors to this Blog complain about Cimini and his outlandish statements or positions. Personally I am not a fan of him or his Blog. So how did he win? I think Mayor Daley came back from the dead and helped Rich stuff the ballot box. Personally I would take Dave Hutchinson of Star Ledger over Cimini anyday of the week.
And Bassett your statement “As great as he is” has to bring your independence into question on this vote. -
Ditto, Ed. Hutch likes to stir the pot now and again, but I never feel like it’s done with malice. I really think that Cimini and Myers are closet Phish fans or something.
And Brandon, as for Cannizzaro writing at a 4th grade reading level, let’s get real; they’re all sports writers. My four year old uses bigger words that I’ve see in anyone’s column.

Cannizzaro has been the Jets’ #1 defender since Steve Gutman left town –
-
Gotta agree with most of the comments here. Rich is mister negative, and Hutch is fair but supportive. Myers is a waste of my time, and Mark C. ..well..I don’t have strong opinions on either way.
-
I don’t want my comments to be perceived as a vote for Cannizzaro. They’re really more about how mind-boggling it is that Rich Cimini would be honored in any way by a Jets Fan Blog. Who voted for this guy? I mean, where are all the Cimini lovers out there?
Can we hear from someone other than Bassett who actually thinks he’s “great”?
-
I agree with John, let the cimini supporters speak up. Otherwise we will know it was a ballot stuffing job by cimini and his staff.
-
Yeah, Cimini sucks.
-
Well, it’s been more than 24 hours and no sounding off from Cimini lovers…Ed, I guess your ballot stuffing assessment could be correct.

I read similar article also named Beatwriter Blog, and it was completely different. Personally, I agree with you more, because this article makes a little bit more sense for me

In fairness, I don’t read his blog, but I do read his articles from time to ttime and in
my opinion, Cimini is the Jets fan’s version of a root canal.
Maybe he appeals to the self-loathing Jets fan, who enjoys when a beat writer sounds the, “Same old Jets” alarm every chance he gets, ala Gary Myers. (Hey, wait a minute, don’t they both write for the Daily News?)
I don’t expect puff pieces from a beatwriter, but I don’t want to feel like he’s actually rooting for controversy and poor play, just so he can rag on my team.
I don’t get that vibe from Cannizzaro.
