Training Camp Photos: Evening Session
Ahh, the Golden Hour (as Bassett kept calling it).
After a wet and gloomy morning (weather-wise), it was nice to see the sun break through and to have just a perfect evening for football. Obviously, I’m not the only one who thought so –
Morning/evening.
Anyway, like your crazy uncle who makes you look at his slides from his trip to the Grand Canyon (“It’s just a big hole”), here are some images from the evening session after the jump.

“Okay rookie, pop quiz: What’s the average air velocity of an unladen football coming off the foot of a punter?”
“Australian or American?”
Coach Callahan working up close with the line during drills.
After reading the comments from the last set of pictures, I’m sure this will set off another round of heated discussion on quarterback mechanics.
Coach Sutton looks on during non-line drills.
Let the 11-on-11 action begin!
By the way, just an observation: Much of the press doesn’t really pay attention until 11-on-11s begin, and then base their camp observations on that. There’s lots of other passing and drills that happen that get no mention, where certain players either look better or worse. Also, I noticed in reading their coverage of the session, in their hurry to announce which quarterback they think “won” the day, they neglect to mention on a few of the “nice pass” plays during the 11-on-11s, if it had been an actual game, the quarterback would have been sacked well before throwing. The line is still gelling, but the pass rush — Pace, in particular — looks great thus far!
Working from the shotgun in the two-minute drill.
Seriously, these are some big dudes.
We had a Woody Johnson sighting — and I don’t doubt he’s nervously looking around to see if D. Rose was in attendance to heckle him again. (And yes, Woody came in by helicopter like last year — saw it before and after practice.)
Anyway, it was a great night and a lot of fun. I recommend at least one visit to training camp for any fan — especially on a night when the weather is great!

Just good to see the Jets on the playing field again.

From sackdance on Clemens in yesterdays comments:
“Clemens, on the other hand, has looked skittish..”
I hope Clemens skittishness works as well for him as the last NY QB to be called skittish…..

Why does Faneca have a woman’s ass?

I posted this earlier, but here is my take on yesterday afternoon.
I just got back from the afternoon session. It was great. Dustin Keller already looks like a seasoned veteran. Calvin Pace is quick, and big, he was very impressive. Brad Smith looks like a different player, I mean that in a good way.
KC is 1 inch shorter then CP. However, I saw KC throw another stupid interception. He seems to lack that “It” factor. CP, not much better, his arm sucks.
Ainge, on the other hand, has a pretty good arm, he can definetly zip the ball down field. Had I not already known he sat the OTA’s and mimi camps, I wouldn’t have known it. He looks to have a pretty good understanding of the offense.
Nugent can kick the ball a long way, he was trying to kick simulated game fiels goals of about 55 yards at a small goal post. he missed most, but the range was definetly there.

The night practice was Herm’s innovation and will be most remembered for tearing up Santana Moss’s leg –

This was not a night practice. It was over before 8pm with plenty of light left.

skaoscar i was wondering the same this lol
any news on how Bryan Thomas or Justin Miller looked?
-
Bryan Thomas actually looked good — he seemed to be very good in pass rush, got in the QB’s face a few times. Didn’t notice him on coverage or running plays. Speaking of not noticing — I’m still not sure if Ellis was on the field yesterday. I don’t remember seeing his number, at all …
Justin Miller is definitely the #1 CB across from Revis. Ran with the starters all day long. He also is the top kick returner — then Leon and Stuckey. Interestingly, Revis fielded kicks and punts in the morning session while Cotchery did both in the afternoon/early evening session.

Love the Holy Grail reference under the 1st photo.

I remember back in the day when this site didnt overflow. At least now we get better coverage! Great stuff guys :)

I can’t wait for analysis of the QB picture from our QB coaches/TJB readers.
Has anyone else had problems with getting on the blog this week?
I’ve been getting a “CPU overflow” message saying come back later.
