Film Room: Big Jinx Gets All Rachel Ray on You

by Bassett on July 29th, 2008 at 12:30 pm

OK sounds odd I know, but listening to Kris Jenkins talk last week at camp was one of the biggest thrills of the day for me. For a dude who weighs 359 pounds and mashes Offensive Linemen, he has a very erudite way of carrying himself, and I appreciate that.

Here’s a video for ESPN the Mag in which he shows off his cooking skills at Eric Barton’s house.

Big Daddy Aaron McCargo, look out!!

Cap tip to Tom F. for sending this in …

  1. Rosey Grier’s Needlepoint got nothing on Kris Jenkins Cooking…

Now, I’m looking forward to watching Jenkins get all up in Miami’s Kitchen!

    Did somebody say Fish Fry?

  2. avatar Rich says:

If anyone knows food, it has to be Big Jinx. And, is Aaron McCargo related to John of the Bills?

  3. avatar Harvlis says:

    Dean, beautiful.

Got to keep Big Jinx nourished. The man will need his energy, as he pounds the middle of the O-line with authority. I have watched him in practice and, there is no doubt, he can do the job. Jet fans are going to fall in love with this guy. I guarantee, our O-Linemen do not look forward to playing opposite him. If anything, he will make our interior linemen that much better. He is a load!

  4. avatar Bent says:

Jets fans are superstitious enough without having a Big Jinx on the team…therefore I propose we call him JYD (the Jenk Yard Dog).

  5. avatar ramble914 says:

    Bent,

I second that motion. Being a jet fan for almost 40 years, I have seen my share of jinxs. We don’t need to call our star acquation “Big Jinx”.

All in favor say “yay”; not in favor say “nay”. The yays have it. He will be known as Jenk Yard Dog.

    Democracy at it’s finest.

  6. avatar sec108 says:

I agree with ramble and bent whole heartedly, but if you watch the video he has Big Jinx tattooed on his left forearm, in very big letters. Just wondering which one of you wants to tell him we’d like it removed?

  7. avatar ramble914 says:

    I’ll let Bent do it.

  8. avatar Matt W. says:

Can we take it a step further and call the newly revamped D-Line the “Dawg Pound”? You DON’T want to get stuck in the pound…Junk Yard Dawg will eat you up like an egg-white omlette with spinach!

OK, maybe leave that last part out.

  9. avatar nyckage says:

well atleast all of them r bonding wat i rly cared bout was how shan and him where all on the same page

  10. avatar Pete57 says:

Matt, Dawg Pound was a name of the Cleveland Browns fans. Wouldn’t want to go there.

  11. avatar 18andOne says:

Did anyone else find it werid that our new 360 lb nose tackle, we just signed to a new contract, uses egg whites and rents a place from Eric Barton. I’m not passing any judgement on the guy, but at 360 lbs would you still care about the yolk of an egg, and would you still rent if you make his type of money?

  12. avatar sec108 says:

actually renting makes perfect sense for most of them now that the Jets are packing for NJ on Sept 1, if you were Jenkins why not rent from Barton for camp and look in Jersey for a home to live in as soon as the Jets abandon Ny forever.

  13. avatar ramble914 says:

And, maybe if he wasn’t watching what he ate, he would be 390 lbs.

  14. avatar Bent says:

I ain’t afraid…pass the cheese grater. I’m sure Brett Favre can get hold of a good one for me…

  15. avatar Bassett says:

18 … i think it might be as sec108 noted … no reason to buy when he knew about the move. he has a family, but they might be staying in NC until they have the house. most of the guys are in and out during the offseason, so he didn’t need a place until then,

as far as the egg yolks, that’s a smart way for a guy his size to eat, but not add unecessary cholesterol and fat. seeing him up close last thursday, he’s a big dude … but it’s clear he’s doing his best to keep his weight under control. even though these guys are big they are trying to maintain balances, which i can’t imagine is easy when you are that size.

d’brick for a long time ate very little red meat, and a lot of fish if i remember some old interviews of his. maybe dbrick is working more red meat into his diet finally! :)

  16. avatar jchryss says:

What’s the point of getting the cholesterol out by using egg whites if you are going to add oil and cheese.
