(Probably Bogus) Rumor: Brady to Miss Two to Four Games

There is a (probably bogus) rumor all over the internet that Tom Brady is set to miss two to four games this season (remember they play the Jets in week two). Here’s the original source
This just in.
We’ve received news from a reliable news source, that would like to remain anonymous (initials E.B. [...]

Roster Shuffling: Say it Aint Po…

Considering all the “experts” think the Jets suck, it’s interesting how quickly their AFC East rivals moved to pick up some Jets that couldn’t even make the active roster. Of course, they may only be there to share information about the playbook…
Jason Pociask has been picked up by the Pats and Nate Garner was [...]

Audible: Who Else is Out There?

I’m exhausted, so this time you guys can do the work…any names out there following cut-down day that tickle your fancy?

Daily Links: 53 Man Edition

Here is an interesting read about, yes you guessed it, Brett Favre.  He says that he was never 100% sure he wanted to retire and that Ted Thompson really pressed him for a decision.  More importantly he mentions that he is having a “blast” so far with the Jets.  Tannenbaum wanted a two year commitment [...]

Discuss: Who Will Be This Year’s Jason Nerys?

Poor Jason Nerys. This time three years ago, he spoke to the media about how thrilled he was to make the team after the Jets announced their cuts and he wasn’t among them. Unfortunately for Nerys, the Jets picked up another player off waivers (I believe it was TE Zach Hilton, who had [...]

Chatman Roids Update: Not Roids After All

Cimini with a minor correction based upon a quote from Chatman’s agent, who seems like he would probably say “no, I don’t” if you suggested that he seems to deny everything:
Jesse never tested positive for a steroid or any other performance-enhancing drug. Near the end of last season the League claimed he had a [...]

Breaking News: Shock Jesse Chatman Development; More Cuts Confirmed

Breaking News: Two More Cut

Wave goodbye to Jacob Bender and David Ball. Analysis after the jump.

Roster Latest: Jets “Rethinking Things”

Hutch reports that the Jets rescheduled the 1pm conference call (where they would presumably announce the cuts) and draws the conclusion that the Jets might be rethinking the decision to release Jesse Chatman, which he describes as “odd”. The conference call will now be at 6pm ET.
I wonder if the Jets floated the trade [...]

Buzz: Trade Imminent?

Latest blog post from Cimini suggests the Jets are about to make a trade. However, it may *not* be for Jesse Chatman, whose agent has reportedly denied that his client has been traded OR released. The cutdown deadline is 4pm ET.
Cimini wonders if the trade could be for Chris Baker or Justin Miller. [...]

It’s now time for the most anticipated event of the pre-season: TJB’s Annual Name-that-Squad Contest!!!
The rules are simple: name the players you [...]

Analysis: If I Did It

As mentioned in the post below, some doubt exists over the accuracy of Hutch’s report of the players cut yesterday. However, assuming for now that it is accurate, here are my thoughts and analysis on each of the cuts after the break. Add your thoughts in the comments.

(Conflicting) News: The First Cuts are the Deepest

According to Hutch, the Jets made six cuts last night, including a few surprise moves:
In a stunning move, the Jets released veteran RB Jesse Chatman, who rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on Thursday night against the Eagles and led the team in rushing this preseason with 164 yards and a touchdown on 51 [...]
