Brian Bassett … Iron Ref?

Just a quick note to you readers that I will be competing this week in Hugging Harold Reynolds Iron Ref competition in their immaculate and well appointed Kitsch-en Stadium … see an example of a past competition here. The competition’s secret ingredient for this week is “Ugly Play.” If you have savory suggestions for this ingredient, leave comments or shoot me an email.

… no word yet on whether I will try to go for the HHR home run with the Ice Cream Machine of Doom

  1. Brian, the ugliest and most devistating play that I can recall, came during the 92-93 NHL Playoff’s. The Islanders were playing Toronto. After Pierre Turgeon scored the series-clinching goal, and during his celebration, Dale Hunter hit Turgeon violently from behind. It ended up separating Turgeon’s shoulder and he was not able to play for the rest of the playoffs. The Islanders were hot and Turgeon was their best Offensive player. Hunter received a 21 game suspension but, the Islanders eventually lost to the Canadians, who ended up winning the Cup. I am sure that if Turgeon were playing, the Islanders would have won the Cup. Hunter’s hit was the dirtiest, ugliest, scummiest play I have ever seen.

  2. The ugliest play will undoubtedly come from the Bill Belichick sex tape as soon as it is revealed.

  3. i second the sex tape… or anything else involving belicheck
