We’ve gotten word this morning that Chris Baker was practicing with the team this morning as he was activated off the PUP list … passing his physical after almost a week and a half.
Baker still might be traded, but there’s no reason to release him … yet. Keeping Baker, Franks and Keller in the same offense would be a great way to cause defenses many issues, having three solid catching Tight Ends. Activating Baker could put pressure on other players, like Jason Pociask and Jehuu Caulrick to be squeezed off the roster.

Baker is not irreplaceable, but he is a TE that we need. Bubba Franks most likely he will be a red zone TE and Dustin Keller a stress the defense TE. Baker presents us with a solid blocking and catching TE which will allow the specialty of the other two, in two TE sets, to flourish. Our two TE sets can be the strength of this offense. Can Pucsiack play that role? I am sure that he could but at what degree of efficiency? From what we have seen so far..I think that there is no comparison. So we have to be careful here, especially since he is willing to play with his current salary.

If the Jets cut Jehuu, it would be a mistake. He is a very good player. He can catch the ball out of the backfield and he is a monster near the goal line. He looks very good in practice.

Jehuu isn’t going anywhere, unless Baker can mow people down from the goal line, I wouldn’t worry about Jehuu. Jehuu cannot only mow people over in goal line stances but is a heck of a blocker as well, not to mention he will be used on special teams. Richardson is a now need, but Jehuu is the future for the JETS. They know what they have in him, and you never let a talent go, the JETS will keep him as for Pucsiack, he has come on this year, but may find himself on the reserve list when the season starts. Franks and Richardson could find themselves during the course of the season with little aches and pains or minor injury so having a Pucsiack available would be a plus. Baker, ahhhh, who knows, but if he can be a team maker instead of a team breaker, I would like to see him stay and with Keller really stretch the field.

From what I’ve heard, I’d hesitate to put Bubba in the “solid catching tight end” category.
