I just came home from seeing The Dark Knight (awesome, awesome movie) and heard that ESPN’s SalPal is reporting that the Jets offered a fourth rounder that could accelerate to a second round pick for Brett Favre.
Considering that the Jets already have at least three 2009 fourth round picks (their own, from New Orleans in the Vilma trade, and from the Redskins in the Kendall trade) that’s not bad. It doesn’t mean I am more thrilled that he might very well be a Jet … but for that price? I’m listening.
It’s hard to say what the points would be that make it worth a second rounder, but anyone else think that Packers GM Ted Thompson is leaking this to put out a distress call for last offers? Is that really the best offer Thompson can get for Favre? Wow. Quite a blow for an organization that was saying they wanted a first rounder just a week ago. Nothing like a market adjustment for what draft picks are really worth these days.
UPDATE: Just wanted to throw in that it sounds like the offer that was floating earlier this evening (a third rounder with potential to move to a first from the Jets) was too high for the Bucs to match, but somehow we’re now talking about a fourth rounder .. that might then be the Jets making it known that they aren’t in “so deep.”

Apparently the Packers asked Tampa Bay for a third round pick as well as a player (presumed to be QB Brian Griesse)…the Farve saga continues…I personally think your asking for trouble if you trade for an athlete that truly doesn’t want to play in New York….

Brett’s such a competitor. You don’t have to worry about him. He’ll play his heart out for any team he’s on.
-
Favre wants to play in Green Bay or punish the Pack and play against them in the division. It’s not like he wants to play for Tampa Bay. But, Favre wants to play in the NFL and I have no doubt that if he wants to play and decides to play for the Jets, he won’t do anything to sully his great, HOF resume.

ESPN is reporting that Favre has been traded to the JETS!!!!!! Goodbye Chad!

Holy crap. I’m not sure I love this…. but I’ll give it a go. Wow.
-
I have mixed emotions on this, I really liked Chad but I believe this is the best chance for the Jets to win.

Eh? Where on the site does it say that?

Found it.
Nothing more than the announcement though… I don’t know whether to want it to be true or not!
-
I just love it – baby!!!

At first I was so excited…the more time passes the less happy I am. I loved Chad, I hope the Jets are smart and keep his as the best backup in the NFL. As far as I’m concerned the QB position was the only question to all the critics, on paper we can be an elite squad, lets see what happens now.

CONTRATS to the Jets on acquiring our beloved Favre, he will be sadly missed here in greenbay! This year i will be wearing the green and WHITE of NY! I never thought i would see that day happen but after the job they did on our quarterback im through with the packer season here. I wish the JETS a great season with many wins, its just too bad they wont be playing GB this year and its doubtful we will be seeing a playoff season anytime soon. hahaha GO FAVRE GO JETS!!

Let’s see how classy Chad handles himself now — He will throw everyone under the bus as he campaigns in vain for a starting job in the League –
-
The running game just improved because of the long ball threat. Brett’s going to like his new weapons…..Coles, Cotchery, Baker, Bubba and the newest toy…….Keller.
I hope he can jump into the QB competition and win it, LOL.
-
just be good to our QB up there! LOL They are already planning a rally here to fire Ted Thompson in Lambeau on our first Preseason game! Favre is going to do great up on NY, he would be amazing wherever he went. Just going to take a little time to adjust to a new offense, hes used to running west coast here for 17 years.
-
Please keep Chad!!!

NOW we can utilize all of Dustin Keller’s game — Would have been sickening to see him limited to five yard routes by that Rhodes Scholar Finalist —
Good riddance, Chad — You will never get another chance to cripple any more our skill players –

Again, this shows what a good job Tannenbaum is doing. A 4th rounder for Favre? Are you kidding me? That would be a bigger steal than Moss for a 4th rounder. The Jets might not get Favre, but the longer the Jets stick around, the higher the likelihood that a deal could be done.
