What to Look For Tonight
Posted on August 7th, 2008 by Bassett
Favremania has kept us from letting you know what to look for, but here’s some quick thoughts to keep an eye on in tonight’s game. Starters will only get a quarter according to Crennel.
- Kris Jenkins — Cleveland has a pretty good O-Line. If you still have video of Dewayne from last year, take a quick look at that and compare it to how he plays tonight.
- Mangold on Rogers — He’s been playing against Jenkins all camp … has that helped him?
- Faneca — How do they use him best … Traps? Pulls? Where is he most effective?
- Calvin Pace & the Pass Rush — There’s been a lot of sacks in practice … does it translate?
- Linebackers — Does Harris play much? How do the LBs do against Kellen Winslow Jr?
- Justin Miller — How does he play? How does he do against a #2 corner. Against Edwards?

I’m sure that you mean against a #2 receiver.
Wait, there’s a game tonight?
yea, a preseason game
yea dude its not real football but still not football 4 all of spring and half the summer come on u gotta watch something
i guess thats what giant fans were saying when ahmad bradshaw and deric ward were toting the rock in garbage time. I mean listen i will watch the game to see how the rookies and non starters play but mostly because i am a huge fan
Way too many posts about Favre. I’ll see what’s up after the preseason game. Now there’s no QB controversy. Only question now is how bad does Favre really want to play and how does his off-season of inactivity affect his play. Oh yeah, how well can he adjust to a new team, players, coaches and city after 16 years in GB.
Hey nothing on Clemens? Nothing to look for? Nothing to root for? It was only a couple of hours ago that this blog was HOT with CP vs. KC chatter. What a difference a day(trade) makes. Let me tell all you Farve lovers if you think he will bring us the SB you are NUTS!! Pennington and Parcells will win the SB before Farve and the JETS. W. Johnson will go down as the same disgrace as Leon Hess. Mark my words!!!!
Fonzie,
Give it a break! I’m not looking for a SB, a good respectable season would suffice, maybe a playoff win or two would be great. Favre makes that possibility much more likely. Either get on board or find another team.
U no wat i think the jets cant win the SB thsi yr but if they get brett excited this and we can make a run 4 it nxt yr
nyckage,
I agree, there are a lot of new players, it’s going to take time forthem to gel. 2008 should be a good season, 2009 should be a great season. The questin is, will BF want to play in 2009?
Barret,
How about LIVE-BLOGGING during the game? My favorite blog for the Chicago Cubs does it and it’s awesome — http://www.chicagocubsonline.com. Especially for those who can’t watch the game.
JP
hey JP
mayb u should email him bassett doesnt read all comments but that is a rly good idea
Yea, well maybe. A live blog might be good. But I am so pumped right now, we should leave it alone. I mean it’s only the first pre-season game, maybe the weather dealay is a good thing. I just think the Jets should be winning.
I hope Jets fans know what they are getting. They are getting the best. Not only because Brett Favre is an outstanding football player, but he’s an outstanding individual. What you see, is what you get with Brett Favre. I have been a Packers fan for more than 40 years. He is the best thing that ever happened to Green Bay since the late 60’s. I am appalled by the way he has been treated by our new management. Today, I ordered NFL Sunday Ticket and became a Jets fan. I wish him nothing but success. Go Jets!
This isn’t the right thread for this, but…
WHAT THE HELL CBS?!?! HOW DO YOU NOT REALIZE THAT THE AUDIO FROM PERSON YOU ARE INTERVIEWING ISN’T BEING BROADCAST!!!!
wow. that joe namath non interview was completely bizarre. my favorite part was when buttle started laughing at nothing.
Hey basset why don’t we have a post spot for each game? How about Ratliff, Clowney and Lowery!! I think Ratliff has won himself a spot on this team and the same with Clowney. Lowery had a nice return and hopefully we can develop him into a #2CB
Agree, the Brett that played tonite was awesome, albeit it was preseason. How about Lowery punt return for TD, an INT. Clowney looked good on the deep balls. Even Adrians brother Marcus looked pretty good on defense.
