All Bretts are Off: The No Brett Thread

by droseatwork on August 9th, 2008 at 9:33 pm

All this coverage is a bit overwhelming! I want to take this time to talk about things other than Brett! I invite everyone to come and discuss all non-Brett related issues.

Here are some of my thoughts:

  • Bender committed a lot of penalties during the pre-season against Cleveland. I was not very impressed with him.
  • Woody?! I know it’s early but I wasn’t very impressed with the O or D Lines.
  • Safety: Elam was not overly impressive, will he split time again this year?
  • I think Clowney will make the team, he’s the speed guy we’ve been looking for. Him and Keller could really stretch the field.
  • Gholston looked lost in pass coverage. Buttle talked about it during the broadcast.

What do you think the non-Brett coverage will be talking about?

first off all dude this the the favre blog we have to talk about favre JUST JOKING

ok yea the real competition for the 3rd WR is between stuckey and clowney we all know that by know brad has got to do something or he might fall to 5th string ok and at safety position
lowery would make a great fit and yea gholston looked like an idiot in the browns game but he will get there he wont get it in the 1st week but by the 6th week he will be fine

I love the Clowney pick-up last year. I think he is a good role player if you allow him to be just that and not overstretch his bounds. He was a track star and good for (usually) at least one big play per game. Just don’t expect much in the way of possession-type plays or consistent difference making.

It’s possible with him as a #4 for us he could be good for 300-400 yards at seasons end with a 15-20 ypc average.

More commentary on how the O line is doing — Any word on how they’re doing? — If they don’t gel then we have a problem — If they do, we may have a Championship –

Does anybody know if Favre had any experience with Clowney while they were both in GB?

  12. avatar D. Greene says:

Clowney is gonna be (i think) a surprise reciever like cothery was

  13. avatar Broadway12 says:

Yeah I notice the o line and front 7 on d were not that sharp its only the 1st gm but it is crucial for that front 7 to get off on a fast start not like the last 2 yrs that they don’t start playing well til after the BYE and MANGINI gets his hands on them I’m not a SUTTON fan.

  14. avatar kc says:

if im not mistaken,i think ELAM had the second most tackles in the browns game besides our newest 4th round standout DWIGHT LOWERY,who had the MOST tackles and a punt return for touchdown!!

  15. avatar Kevin says:

I can’t judge and will not judge in 1st pre season game, this was get the kinks out game for every one. Next week when the flow ( no 90 minute stoppage) will give us a better take on where we stand, and how far we have to go.

  16. avatar nyckage says:

    Kc
you forgot he had and INT

    Broadway12
you are right Sutton has to go he is probably the reason why are rush D sucks

    D. Greene
dont expect so much the teams is trying to run more and favre is not gonna be his former self in the 1st 2 games

  17. avatar Doctor K says:

Hopefully the Defense gels alot quicker than it has in recent years. The trend has been a porous run defense that eventually gets it together by Week 8 or 9 then locks down for a stretch. Remember how awful we were in the early part of the season?
I too am NOT a Bob Sutton fan. How he still has a job is mind-boggling.

  18. avatar Reprocity says:

Sutton has a job so Manginni doesnt lose his. At first you fail fire the Coordinator then the Coach. By keeping Sutton it hives him another year!

Could Ratliff be the QB of the future? Imagine having your future qb without that big 1st round QB contract! He’s got a stronger arm than Klemens and he’s 6’4″ 225. What does he lack?
