Camp Files: BubbyBrister/shovel pass Reports

Commenter BubbyBrister/shovel pass went to check out the last open practice yesterday at Hofstra and was kind enough to file a report.

I attended the last open practice at Hofstra today. Some observations:

1) Clemens ran a lap with the backup center (DeVan?) for another botched snap! Ay Carumba!
2) Farve marched right down the field on the 1:59 minute drill, throwing nice passes to J-Co in the process.
3) Brett Ratliff made another long pass completion to Marcus Henry (my guess was 35+ yards). Marcus had a good practice overall I thought.
4) Eric Ainge is totaly lost. Throwing at guys feet and taking forever to go through his progressions.
5) Chatman made some nice cuts and runs similar to what he showed in the Redskin game last week.
6) Off to the side during the special teams practice, Farve and Coles (who was “participating” but not really practicing) were seen working on some “chemistry” tosses.
7) I don’t know if this is usual, but Nugent, Dearth, & Graham were seen practicing the fake field goal play where Graham tosses it over his shoulder blindly to Nugent. It looked better in college.
8) Nugent looked good on FGs (unlike last weekend!)
9) Dustin Keller and D. Lowery are the real deal! But you probably knew that already…
10)Vernon didn’t make any stand-out plays that I saw. But I find it is tough to assess the Def. without any real tackling going on.

    good stuff i really see D lowery become a household name for us like kerry is , we really know how to find talent in the 4th round ex. kerry and cotchery ,
    i really hope nugent doesnt screw up next week well he can screw up in every snap in the presaeon but when it comes time for the real season and he misses one field goal its gonna make me think we wasted a 2nd Rd on him

    thats it ainge has no shot of making the active roster he better sa yhello to the practice squad

    give Vernon some time

    We did waste a 2nd round pick on Nugent. No doubt about that. What we need to do is make the most of it and understand it is a sunk cost.

    I remember going back and forth with some one about even the remote possibility of Lowery starting opposite of Revis… I’m not going to eat the whole crow pie but, I’m def going to eat a slice!

    Bubby, Good job. What is up with Ainge? I saw the same things at practices that I attended. What will the Jets do with him? Will he be protected or will he be available for all takers? Management is really keeping quiet on this one.

    It seems like Ainge needs to go back to school. All those quaterbacks in front ot f him and he cant get it done. Something is not klicking or the game is going to fast for him right now.
