Almost, Harlan. They are currently $2.5m under the cap and Boldin's cap number is only $2.75m but of course he wants an extension that will push that closer to $10m.

The key though is Coles. You refer to his savings, but because his salary is guaranteed, there is no saving. In fact, the whole $12m due to him would hit the 2008 cap (plus there would be $1m of dead cap in 2009. So, there while they save $6m by not paying Coles, they also incur a cap hit of $12m. In other words, it is not just Boldin's salary demands that are prohibitive to this move, but also the cap hit for trading Coles, which I think was partly repoman's point.

However, yes, even if they *could* trade Coles with no cap implications, they still might not be able to fit Boldin's salary under the cap that easily.

Reprocity, and pay Boldin with what? The one million cap savings from Barrett's renegotiation and the savings from Coles won't cover Boldin's yearly salary.
