Gene Upshaw, has passed away due to pancreatic cancer.  Upshaw was the current head of the Players’ Union who had a controversial tenure.  This might effect the ongoing labor negotiations as a new head, will likely have new agendas and to assert themselves in the start of their leading the union.

I saw Upshaw play, many times. He was a force. Oakland had a great line, with T Art Shell and C Jim Otto. When Upshaw pulled, he often pancaked players. He was an easy choice for Hall of Famer. A great loss.
