I heart Kris Jenkins
I was at the game on Saturday and I when I wasn’t playing find Jen Sterger I was making sure to pay extra special attention to our new NT Kris Jenkins and I must say I was extremely impressed with him. First off he is just plain huge, you see him amongst the other D-Linemen and there really is no comparison. But more important then his size is the way he commands double teams from linemen.
He was double teamed on every single play that I watched, including pass plays and he held his own. Unlike D-Rob he was not trying to penetrate he was just taking on the center and the guard and freeing up the linebackers. He is one reason that the D-Line was looking much better, even without Ellis playing end.
When we talk about the success of this defense and the high priced linebackers like Pace, BT and now Gholston, the reason they can do what they do is because we have Jenkins clogging up the middle. So when you watch our defense this year pay extra special attention to #77.

yea because of jenkins we are gonna be alot better mangini should honor him by making him a captain , oh did you ever find sterger
Too true. He won’t put up big numbers, but if he takes pride in his role like he said he would in interviews in the offseason, then the defense as a whole will function better. The minor backlash against him hasn’t surprised me (and neither has the Gholston backlash), but as long as the Jenk Yard Dawg keeps on doing the dirty work, everything is good.
Fingers crossed for tonight. The Jets Giants preseason game is always a defensive struggle, so hopefully some people on the defensive side of the ball will get a chance to shine.
Siad it before ,ill say it again. Jenins was the most important peice added this offseason. The 3-4 simply wont work without a true NT. Now that there isnt a gaping hole at the point of attck in the JEts D giving up 3 yards before th eplay even starts things could get fun. Ellis, Harris, Barton Pace, Rhodes and Revis. Matybe BT returns to two seasons ago form or Gholston is the real deal. Either way I think this D is good, stops the run and allows the Jets to be patient on O , run the ball and not Rely on Farves to gunsling his way to head scratching ints
the sight of the Jets coughing up big money (and picks in jenks cse) for a NT and a left guard brings a tear of joy to my eye. Tangini really gets it. Look at what a high priced guard did for the viking (hutchinson) and the browns (steinbach) last year. In the case of Jenkins, its great the Jets would make the extra effort to bring in not only an exceptional player, but an exceptional person. Kris makes eggwhite and truffle oil omlettes while vince wilfork has evolved into the dirtiest player in the league(sorry rodney harrison) and new brown shaun rogers forcibly gropes women while brandishing a handgun.
also, kellen clemens suck
No doubt about it, Jenks is the real deal. His play will make our defense a force, this year. David Harris should make the Pro Bowl, with Jenks help. Except for a few big runs — we look tough. We stopped Eli a number of times, while he was in good field position.
Nyckage, good thought. If they make Jenkins the Captain, it might mean alot to him. As he has shown a good mix of being funloving, while getting down to business, he would make a great candidate. I would motivate him any way I could.
Vinny, you didn’t mention Bryan Thomas, Kenyon Coleman, David Bowens, CJ Mosely, Cody Spencer, Marcus Murrell, Kareem Brown & Dwight Lowery (who could contribute in a big way, in his rookie year). These guys can play.
Roof, Clemens led an outstanding drive in the Giant game. Ratliff is playing his butt off but, Clemens has ability, he is just raw.
