Pete Prisco takes a look at the AFC East, and doesn’t give the Jets much of a puncher’s chance against the New England Patriots.
What’s lost in all the excitement of Favre coming to the New York Jets, forgotten in the hope that he can bring the Jets to the Super Bowl, are two very important things: One is his age and possible deterioration of his game. The second is far more of a detriment to the Jets’ Super dreams.
It’s the New England Patriots.
Do you really think bringing Favre to New York puts the Jets on the same level as the Patriots? Think again. The Patriots are by far the class of this division.
Tom Brady vs. this Brett Favre?
That’s like Tito Ortiz vs. Pete Prisco — a knockout.
Prisco then goes on to use the rest of his Jets section to talk about the Patriots … oy.
For now, the team and we fans have to shut up and take it. It’s been a while since anyone other than the Pats won the division, and the Jets are going to have to take the title from the Patriots to prove themselves.
I will say, that even without Favre, since I started this blog in 2004, I feel like this team is closer than any other in that time period to actually contending for the division. I don’t say that to mean it’s going to happen, but this regime has done a great job of building a solid team.

By the way, Chad was named the ‘Phins starter.

Well if the ” RUMOR ” about Brady actually being injured we have a legit chance but im hoping glen Dorsey knocks him out before he even plays us , remember this guy Brady is defeated in the Meadowlands ( i think ) but there is always a chance moss gets injured in that racing he has been doing , what a moron , i hope he does crash into something and is out for an entire season, i will pray to god that happens , but in all seriousness we have the talent to win the AFC East , we just need to utilize it in the right way , remember Eric Mangini took a 4-12 team to 10-6 without making major roster moves now , what can mangini do when he has talent on this team

my question to this d bag who wrote the review is who would you rather have throwing td’s. edwards or farve? hopefully someone who gets paid to write about sports would say brett farve
i will say that lynch could give alot of teams troublem but still give me a break on the bills going anywhere with edwards -
john r
what are you doing the article is not about the bills its about how the patriots own the afc east we all know the bills are no match for us probably pete prisco , hes talking about us against the past for the #1 spot not us against the bills for the
#2 spot -
This goes on the bulletin board. When Brady finds himself on his butt, he can thank Pete Prisco.
-
i dont care what this dumbass says, week two brady’s gettin his ass planted to the ground by our D. end of discussion
-
All anyone talks about is Farve, but I think the biggest addition is Jenkins. We went from really no NT to a guy , who early idications are is returning ti Pro Bowl form at the 3-4s most important position. Weve also upgraded with Pace and lets see what Gholston is doing by week 12. With Jenkins, Ellis COleman, Harris and Barton the JETs will be fierce up the middle. Revis will be a shut down CB thi syear, Rhodes is big time player. Lowrey looks like he may be solid and i betcha Barret is moved to Saftey and plays well

With Favre and without Pennington we should win 10 to 13 games — That puts us in a dead heat with the Pats and the Bills –
-
We don’t even have to win the division…we just have to get into the playoffs. Then all it takes is for Brett Favre to beat the Patriots once on the way to the super bowl.
-
Johnny…
So you actually think the Bills can win 13 games. Now that is a stretch even for you.
-
Johnny…
Do you actually believe the Bills can win 13 games? Surely you jest.

here’s one thing i don’t understand. why is it that people are speculating that favre’s abilities have deteriorated? is it just bc he decided to retire under the pressure of making a decision? the fact is he had one of his best seasons last year. i’ve watched the guy live twice now. granted it’s only pre season but if pete prisco actually watched favre he’d feel foolish for suggesting his game has deteriorated.
here’s what’s deteriorated: sports journalism. there are so many people doing it, that reporters need feel the need to make absurd predictions just to stand out.
here’s one simple fact the favre situaiton comes down to. brett favre, deteriorated or not, is a better option at QB than chad was. end of story. end of analysis. the rest is all mental masturbation bc at the end of the day that’s all that matters.
-
Gonna beat the pats in week 2…
last time i checked they had NO secondary to speak of… and aging linebackers…
so the offensive line does its job…we put some pressure on pretty boy…and knock him down a few hundread times…and dont give up the big play…
and win…

The Jets dont stand a chance against new england Belicheck has that rat bastard manginis number and mayo is gonna mop the floor with that old crybaby has been qb favre jets go 8 and 8 at best GO PATS!!!!!
-
Hey the Pats went undefeated last year so articles like this have to be expected. Until we can dominate the Pats or at least play on their level just get used to it. That being said I’m excited about this team and would not be surprised if the Jets beat the Pats this year.

Can’t wait till the day we can say to Bellicheat and Baby’s Daddy:
All your base are belong to us!

I love how Prisco names Victor Hobson as a significant addition. He really should update his info more often or at least read the Boston papers. Hobson will be lucky if he even makes the team, according to some reports, based on his camp performance.
-
RK,
What the hell are you talking about?
-
These reports are so ignorant that they will say anything to make head lines. Personally, I am much more excited about our D and our ability to generate pressure and clog the middle than worrying about Brett Favre vs. Tom Brady.
Trust me, Tom Brady is flake and when he gets put on his pass repeatedly, its lights out for him and the rest of the Pats. I just wish we can take his heart away in that game by punishing him. I want to see him yell at his offensive line men. I want him to give up because he is beaten up so badly.
Brett is a warrior. I was at the game on Saturday night. Our O line looks really, really solid in pass protection, especailly agasint the great pass rush of the giants. I hope the running game picks up when we start feeding the rock more to TJ and LW.
F the patriots this year… We are going right for their throat and there is nothing they can do about it. I hope Tom Brady is healthy and they have no injuries and there is perfect weather outside. That way, people dont try to rob us from our victory because the Pats were injured or it was raining outside.
Our goal that game should be to punish Brady. Just beat him up and the score will reflect that. Everything will fall into place once Brady Will is broken.

Dear patsflutie2,
Is there a rule somewhere that all Pats/Sox fans have to be hyperventilating douchebag morons? Is there any oath you have to take?
Now, I know that your team has been successful in the past (due in part to some poor sportsmanship, i.e., cheating, but we’ll ignore that here). And, I also know that as a true Boston fan you are not smart enough to realize that just because something happened in the past it will not happen again in the future exactly the same way. But do you really think Mayo your reach draft pick trumps adding four pro-bowlers and two stud first rounders? Do you think losing your whole secondary is helpful? Do you really think Victor Hobson is the answer? Do you really believe that the gap hasn’t been closed? Do you really think that the Giants Superbowl game-plan (which by the way was cribbed from the Jets’ 2006 victory over the Pats) won’t be used against Bellicheat again and again? Do you really think that the Jets with all their upgrades won’t be able to put pressure on Brady? Come on, in your heart of hearts you know that there are big questions marks for your team.
Ducky
P.S. – If I showed up at your job and started messing around, interfering with your performance (you know putting dirty plates back on the table you just bussed) so that maybe you would be let go, would you be a rat when you complained about what was going on? The whole “rat” logic is for street thugs and morons who aren’t even smart enough to realize that this kind of thinking only serves to keep them down.

The last team to win the AFC East besides the Pats was?
