if im not mistaken,NO starters(hardly any) play in the LAST preseason game. it is the LAST chance to evaluate the rest of the players to see who makes the team and who gets cut. I say sit him.
I agree Farve should play. Proof is last weeks panalties committed by the OL. Farve even says he needs the work. I hope this doesn’t come back to haunt us.
The Dolphins should be like playing a pick up game. Their D line is vastly improved not their secondary and their O line has to deal with a front 7 that can sack the QB. One series against the Eagles 2nd stringers wouldn’t help anything.
Callahan better be working on those penalties.
Eagles’ second stringers are probably as good as the Miami starters, though.
that guy with that VOICE is really annoying , but if favre wants to play let him play you dont want your most valuable or atleast the guy who gets you all this media attention upset, and then he will bring you bad media attention , but its not like thats gonna happen favre is a drama queen but not that much of a drama queen , and i wanna see how favre is with all our 2nd string , if he can lead our 2nd string guys to a TD , i will be convinced this guy can take us to the playoffs
NYCKAGE, the problem with playing Favre, if in the coaches opinion there is no problem with the offense, is that they must also play all the other offensive starters too. That exposes not only Favre to needless injury, but our OL which is not filled with quality depth and our RB core and TE.
I have not liked the look of our running game. But our passing game has looked fine to me. Perhaps the CS believes it can iron out the running game in ten days of carefully crafted practices. If so, regardless of what Favre wants, the unit should sit.
Regardless, Tangini are responsible for being ready come our opening game. That alone, not what any one player wants, should decide PT.

We should not be selling the Dolphins short. They have the makings of a young start-up team with a decent D and a good QB (regardles of what some say). We better have our batteries, and Farve, charged or we will be in for a rude awakening.
PS. WE can not, I repeat can not start with a loss with the Pats next.
with ALL the BIG NAME INJURIES this offseason we CANNOT let BRETT FAVRE play and risk our SEASON on an absolutely MEANINGLESS game!
NYCKAGE…your not CONVINCED that BRETT FAVRE can take us to the PLAYOFFS!!?? what MORE does he have to do!! he is only(arguably)the BEST QUATERBACK EVER in the HISTORY of the NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE!
HANK..i totally agree about not taking the FISH lightly. i think its most of the FANS that are doing/saying that. MANGINIOUS will NOT! they WILL be FOCUSED.
Hank, I totally agree with you and the guy on Wheelshouse who thinks the starters should play. The whole idea of pre-season is to get ready. If you watched the Giant game, you would know — the Jets are not ready. I would play the starters for one quarter and let them work on formations and timing. Favre does not have to throw bombs down the field. Work on the running game and short passes. D’Brickshaw needs this more than Favre. He missed his assignments, more than once, against the Gints. The receivers have alot of work to do, as well. You can get hurt, getting on the team bus. Favre has played in final pre-season games before. If he wants to get the kinks out, let him.
It looks like Mangini is being his stubborn self and will not let the starters play. If we are disheveled in the Miami game — it would be Mangini’s fault. If we are under control and do not come up with stupid penalties – Mangini knew what he was doing. Being a Jet fan, and having seen this before, I want the starters to get it together. Losing to a rebuilding Miami team, after picking up all this talent, would be disgusting.
Let Brett play two series. They need to work on their timing to correct those penalties. The Eagles are a dangerous and good team. The biggest test for the Jets will be on the defensive side of the ball.
I agree, have the first team O play two series. Work on the run and short pass games. Then turn it over to the backups.
I’ve been saying this sinse April, we cannot lose to Miami. We would be the laughing stock of the entire NFL. They (Miami) would be the up and comers, and we’d be the “same old Jets”, it can’t happen!

I’m having a hard time bein convinced by Farve. Is he the greatest because his stats show he has played the most downs that any other QB in history? Because if you look at his percentages, he is average at best, only that played the most games therefore the most stats.
i did say “arguably” because I WOULD argue(that he is NOT)but he is DEFINITELY GOOD enough to take us too the PLAYOFFS.that was my only point.
hank/naples
Saying Farve should play in the last preseason game against the Eagles 2nd string makes no sense. But after reading your last comment that Farve is average at best it does make sense. Now considering the source of such stupid comments.
hank/naples
I will give credit for being right about one thing. Miami can not be taken lightly. They lost 6 of their games last year by 3 points or less.
This is football. No team can be taken lightly!! All it takes is one bad throw. Which Brett can do. Hopefully under the Mangineous system he will minimize those mistakes and throw a couple of bombs here and there.
pat d:
I,m very much surprised at the tone and arrogance of your comment: ” Now considering the source of such stupid comments. ” You have never met me or know anything about me. Anyway this is about football and not personal. If Farve plays so will the first unit. Which is exactly my point. I would like to see that whole unit get more live practice period. This is what he is saying and what I’m saying. THAT UNIT NEEDS MORE LIVE PRACTICE , period.
As for calling him an average QB read my comments again. I said he may be great because he amassed huge stats BUT his lifetime percentages work out to be average.
hank/naples
I don’t see where you say he may be great and you did not say arguably.
Hank, All you have to do is watch Favre, to know that he is still an awesome QB. With Favre at QB, if the game is close, you always have a shot. If our O-Line gives him time, he will put on a show. They did not do a great job in the Giant game. That is why I think they should play the first quarter of the Philly game.
What you need to see is the respect the DBs and the safetys give him. They dont take many chances like they do with Chad. Everytime the defense blitz they will be punished. The O-line will really need to be on the same page for that to happen. Brett can throw the seem pass deep. That commands alot of respect. If everything goes as planned we will all be happy Jets fans when we beat up on Miami.
Its funny the same people that say Farve only has the records because he played so long are the same people that say he needs more reps.
Farve will be fine. The penalties were not because of Farve. I think the first 4 plays KC was in the game were penalties.
I agree they need more work but an injury is just not worth it.
That one guy needs to get a job at a newspaper
pat d:
” I don’t see where you say he may be great and you did not say arguably.” Pat, you’re not serious, are you?
” Its funny the same people that say Farve only has the records because he played so long are the same people that say he needs more reps.
I’m not the one saying it your Idol is.
pat d:
What is is 270 zillion consecutive games. What are you afraid of one more? THEY NEED THE PRACTICE !!!!
pat d:
Co’mon pat d are you afraid he might net hurt ? HE IS ASKING FOR IT GIVE IT TO HIM !!
Harvlis:
I.m a very true Jackson Heights Queens Jet fan.
If any starter plays and gets hurt we will never hear the end of it. It is not worth it.
hank/naples
The argueably comment was made by kc. My mistake.
As far as the great comment if you say I misunderstood what you meant I will take you at your word and again my mistake.
My idol – your not serious are you?
pat :
You know what, You are totally confused. I Just to skate on the medaws, probaly before you were born
Pat d:
Look its easy, I was raised in NYC on 71 St. between Columbus and B/way. Moved to Jtks Hts. Queens and became a Jets Fan before they drafted Joe Willy. There is no way that i can be more faithfull.
THIS YEAR THE CAMERAS WILL BE ON THE PATRIOTS CAMERAS. THE CAMERAS WERE TAKEN AWAY FROM THEM LAST YEAR SOMEWHAT DURING THE SUPERBOWL. AND THEY LOST. THIS IS A BIG YEAR FOR THE PATRIOTS TO SHOW FOOTBALL FANS ALL OVER THE US THAT THEY ARE NOT CHEATS. I THINK THE JETS WILL GIVE THE PATRIOTS A RUN FOR THEIR MONEY THIS YEAR. HECK, I THINK THEY’LL BEAT THEM AT NE.
I’m not confused – this is what you said.
I’m having a hard time bein convinced by Farve. Is he the greatest because his stats show he has played the most downs that any other QB in history? Because if you look at his percentages, he is average at best, only that played the most games therefore the most stats.
This was my response.

hank/naples
what does age and where you grow up have to do with anything I said.
If you were a fan before they drafted Joe Namath then you were a fan before me. The first football game I remember watching was Super Bowl lllI and I have been a fan ever since. But again this has nothing to do with the discussion.
What you mistook for confusion was me trying to be civil because you were surprised at my tone and arrogance.
OUR RUNNING GAME IS GOING TO BE OUR BIGGEST ASSET. WE WILL AVERAGE 5 YARDS A CARRY VS. MIAMI AND CONTROL THE LINE OF SCRIMAGE. WE WILL RUN FOR 150 YDS. BRETT WILL BE CLOSE TO PERFECT WITH 250YDS PASSING. AND IN THE 4TH QUARTER IF THE GAME IS CLOSE HE WILL THROW A BOMB FROM THE 50 FOR A TOUCHDOWN TO COLES. MEANWHILE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE LINE CHAD WILL BE DINKING AND DUNKING HIS WAY TO THE 50 WHEN HE’LL FINALY RUN OUT OR ROOM AND FEEL LIKE HE’S IN AN ELEVATOR. FINAL SCORE JETS 31 MIAMI 13,
PS-DOESN’T ANYBODY YAHOO ANYMORE?
