i think suttons doing a pretty good job.
its not as easy as it seems.
seriously, he hasnt had much to work with in the past.
and his work at army is pretty impressive.

lets jsut wait it out and see what happens this season.
i have a feeling he can turn it around for the better.
lets hope!

Now that we have the weapons, both coordinators will be exposed for how good they really are. I have a good feeling, on the D coming out of the gate strong. The O might show some signs but, Favre will need time to comprehend the full playbook.

Both our coordinators suck. Mangini’s twiddling at the bye week improves the D and lets hope Callahan gets some say with Schott.

I agree with Sutton not being the D Coordinator we need. He is definitely a weak link that I thought would have been addressed in the off season. Hope he learned to be aggressive from last year’s experience. We need pressure and more pressure on the QB in order to win.

Even in 2004, the most successful year of the Donnie Henderson era, it was statistically proven that the Jets defense was no better than average. The only reason it was high up (4th in terms of yard allowed, I think?) was because the Jets offense had a high time of possession because they had a solid running game and milked the clock.

When the defense was worn down because of lower time of possession due to lots of 3 and outs and return TDs, it was exposed – see the playoff game against the Steelers.

That was the most talent laden defense the Jets have had in years too, which speaks to my earlier point about being more aggressive when you have more talent (although they still often relied on BBNB).

The Jets haven’t been aggressive on D since Donnie Henderson, who was an excellent coordinator. They should’ve gone after Pepper Johnson(the DL coach for the Pats) this offseason, but I’m sure they will this offseason. So I say fire Sutton if the D doesn’t play well in weeks 1-3 and give Mangineus play calling.

Bob Sutton has showed that he’s not the type of defensive coordinator that likes to blitz as often as we would like him to. Pressure is a sure way to mess with a QB’s timing. If no one believes me, just ask Tom “Pretty Boy” Brady. We need someone that loves to blitz like crazy. We need Calvin Pace to blitz on almost every down. He has the speed. That is why we brought him here to play OLB is it not? Thomas has to step up his game and if he doesn’t then we will have a big problem because as far as I’ve heard, Gholston hasn’t been doing well at all adjusting from DE to OLB. PRESSURE = GOOD DEFENSE!!!!!!!!

The problem they’ve faced since abraham was dealt is that they’ve had ZERO pass rush. Now, with pace, ellis (hopefully), VG (maybe?) and the other upgrades on the d-line hopefully they can generate some pressure. Dont want to jinx it but Pace looks like the real deal and something we’ve been lacking for years. Keep your fingers crossed everybody.
