Roster Latest: Jets “Rethinking Things”

Hutch reports that the Jets rescheduled the 1pm conference call (where they would presumably announce the cuts) and draws the conclusion that the Jets might be rethinking the decision to release Jesse Chatman, which he describes as “odd”. The conference call will now be at 6pm ET.
I wonder if the Jets floated the trade rumors from earlier today (happy to help, by the way) to see if anyone would register interest – and maybe something is on the cards.
Sorry about the bits ‘n’ pieces nature of today’s coverage, but I’ll keep passing the news on as I hear it.

i just love how TANGINI will do WHATEVER it takes to make the J-E-T-S BETTER! i dont think these guys DO sleep. whatever move/trade they make,I have FULL confidence its for the better! they still havent sorted through all the released/cut players from the rest of the league YET? always trying to UPGRADE….LOVE IT!
well i guess jesse chatmen is too good to be a 3rd string back, i dont think we should trade chatmen for anything less than a 4th round pic if we are gonna trade him , i am really hoping they shop baker he needs to go although he is still useful but keller is better than him in everything except blocking but he will get that in due time
MT , what can i say about this guy, if we win the SB this guy should get the alot of the credit, i bet he avg. 4 hrs of sleep a day
Keller is not going to replace Baker. They will be used differently. If we get rid of Baker Keller’s receptions will suffer.
i agree we need baker…. both of them on the field will create many mismatches
Baker is not going anywhere. Maybe Chatman, Clemens, or one of the dbs, if a trade happens at all.
being that i like clemens and dont want him to be traded…i just have to say this again…he’s been a victum of a bad line,no run game,bad play calling and especially dropped passes…again,becuz of those dropped passes he should have won at least 2 more games last year…maybe its just his luck being on the jets…maybe a trade will be good for him and he’ll show everybody who doesn’t think he’s good their wrong…then i’ll hear all the ( why didn’t he do that when he was on the jets kinda talk )…and all i’ll have to say is…he wasn’t given a legit chance…plus he has the only expirence behind favre…but i also have to say whatever tangini does im all for it…just my thoughts…
I think the whole Chatman thing, was a dyslexic moment for Hutch – - he saw Chatham, and wrote Chatman ;)
I’ve been patient with KC, dakar, but with Ratliff’s emergence, I’ve been thinking it may be best for KC & the team.
KC looked good (at least to me, initially)… then he took a beating, because of the OL, and started the happy feet, and firing the ball. I think the beating really f****d his head, and a change of scenery, may help him. This way, Ratliffe is #2, and we can keep Ainge around, to see if he can develop.
That said, I’m really hoping we’re moving Miller, so we get something for him, before free-agency.
oops… I wanted to add one thing about KC.
You mentioned the dropped passes – - they weren’t dropping passes on Favre, or Ratliffe… which relates to my comment about firing the ball. He’s not much of a touch-passer.
I think Clemens’ contract is up after this year, so in that regard its the same situation as Miller.

Clemens is signed through 2009, Miller only through 2008. However, considering KC won’t likely play this year, the pending end of his contract is still a consideration at this time.
oh wow i think im actually gonna watch the mangini press conference at 6 , this day has been so interesting , my guess is baker might go or KC one of these guys , it would make sense to me if they traded Chatmen , but one move i wanted to happen for a while but cant , not anymore now that they released poteat who is way better than barrett , but guess what now we have to keep barrett for a bit longer
if KC is traded to MINN. and starts he will have a line,running game, hopefully better play calling and for his sake not as many dropped passes…in this case i would say he’s being given a ligit chance to prove himself…
as for ratliff…i like what i’ve seen from him…when clowny ( his go to guy ) went down…he found his second go to guy in a hurry ( paul raymond )…some QBs suffer when their go to guy goes down with an injury…he didn’t…he just went to the next guy and didn’t skip a beat…
so were gonna have to wait until 6 to find out who got the pink slip…that sucks…

It’s funny Hutch saying that the Jets may be “rethinking their decision to cut Chatman”. According to every other source, Hutch had the story all wrong. There’s no “rethinking” going on – just Hutch trying to get out from under a story that he got wrong.
Heh, I wondered the same thing but decided to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I whole heartedly agree with your earlier posts. If we trade away KC, we are stupid beyond belief. There is no guarantee that BF will play beyond this year, so who will be our QB’s next year? Ratliff or Ainge? Ratliff has a lot of potential, but he has never taken an NFL snap in anger, nor has Ainge.
KC if given a chance will be a good NFL QB, and last year does not count as that chance. He was only a second year player, and our OL sucked, he was running for his life the whole time.

Nope, if you read the articles, it confirms that he was busted for “related substances”. Still, this might not mean he is totally innocent, but it’s inaccurate to definitively say he has ever done steroids, as he denies this and that is not what he was banned for.
NY Post should really change the headline – it’s misleading.
