well hank poteat, what did this guy do wrong in training camp he was a safer bet than barrett , wasnt he solid through out the entire preseason and he got 2 INT’s , wasnt he suppose ot be the guy mangini trusts the most , i know lower is good but we cant rush him to start look who he is gona hve to stick in the first 4 games week 1 most likely ted ginn , week 2 welker ,
week 3 no idea but im guessing some one good and week 4 anquan bolden , thats a tough first 4 games maybe if poteat started the first 4 games and by the 6th week he will be ready to face off an injured TJ whos ur momma

Barrett was kept because of his ability to play safety. With the team only keeping Rhodes, Smith and Elam his ability to play both positions got him a roster spot. That would be my guess as to why they kept Barrett over Poteat.

All very young. All guys I was hoping the Jets would draft. I think Dre Moore especially has great ability though I dont know why he was cut.
Poteat was a “hold the fort” guy which the JETS didn’t need with the emergence of miller and lowery. The fact that Barrett is better than poteat and can play 2 positions was also in his favor.
If poteat is that good, let’s see if the db challenged patsies sign poteat, maybe I will change my mind.
Maybe Willie Anderson could be interesting, at the right price.
DT Dre Moore. The Bucs traded uo to get this guy. I am niot sure if he can play in our 3-4 buthe might be worth a shot.
RB V Morency. This guy can be a 3rd back until our chubby little friend Chatman get back. Dont these guys read the weight loss bottles.???Dont they have personal trainers????
i agree with you nyckage…i think lowery is good but he is not ready to start, he will definitely be our starter by next season but i think mangini is rushing him and going to be asking to much from him! we should have kept poteat and let lowery learn, but i guess lowery will have to learn as he plays which i think is not a good idea
The college version of Dre Moore was a great 3-4 DE prospect. He’s a very athletic big guy. To me, DE is a weak link (I am not a fan of Ellis in this defense – and am not sold on the depth).
I would go after Evan Mathis. He was a good starter at G for Carolina, I guess he just fell out of favor there. He’s only been in the league for 4 years.

We’re still looking for depth on the OL. According to Scout.com’s Adam Caplan, the Jets put a claim in on guard Andy Allemann, who was waived by the Saints. But they didn’t get him because Miami, ahead of the Jets on the waiver wire list, got him first.
Dolphins pick up Nate Garner. I’m sure they’ll be pumping him about the Jets playbook ahead of Sept. 7th.
as if nate garner actually knows a 1/3 of the playbook.
I would not be surprised if the Jets try to sight John Lynch now that he’s been cut
The Jets actually tried to sign Lynch but the Pats must’ve given him a better offer. Another Patriot who I could see coming in is Fernando Bryant. I’m a little confused as to why Poteat was released, because he was having a good presseason and although Dwight Lowery looked good, Justin Miller didn’t look so great and neither did Ahmad Carroll.
The Patriots cut John Lynch. Go get him, Mr T. I bet the Pats signed him just to keep him out of the Jets camp so he had no time to learn anything. They probably had no intention of keeping him.

What about Chad Jackson former 2nd rounder was released by the Patriots?
John Lynch released by the Pats – we wanted him before camp, still need some backups at safety so lets go get him.
If Brady misses a month, our chances in Week 2 just increased drastically. Sometimes, timing is everything.
How about S John Lynch to add depth in that secondary
DRE MOORE would be a perfect 3-4 Defensive End I would love to see this guy picked up.

willie anderson = seasoned veteran pro bowler and will ad depth to the o line
I agree about Willie Anderson. The Jets are one O-line injury away from disaster and I would feel much more comfertable with a veteran back-up.
Lynch is washed-up and a total liability in coverage. Todd Wade and Colvin are a bit more interesting, but Rosie had to have an awful camp and preseason. The Texans gave him a large signing bonus, and must have been really disapointed to curtail the investment so quickly.
Any word on who made the Jet’s practice squad?
Nope, they’re announcing it tomorrow. If anything leaks out before then, I’m sure someone will mention it in the comments though.
Willie Anderson would be a great pick up but can we pay what another team is willing to pay. Oh cut KC and go after Chris Simms.
I just read that Brady looked good in practice Aug. 31. I read this while updating my fantasy football team.

This is what Mangini said about keeping 4 QBs
All four guys [Brett Favre, Kellen Clemens, Brett Ratliff and Erik Ainge] have done positive things. I like all four guys. It’s such a vital position. If things were to change at some point, they would change. But I really have no expectations of them changing in the near future.
I wonder what Mangini means by change. Maybe that some team would be dumb enough to offer a 7th round pick for KC.
and what is your definition of near future
Dre Moore was overweight and didn’t have a great work ethic. That’s why he was cut. Don’t think Mangini wants that on the team.
John Lynch? Rudi? Archuleta? Colvin?
Pats released Hobson. Vikes released Bollinger. Not really persons of interest for the Jets anymore, but interesting to note.
Greyson Gunheim is available, say Adam Archuleta, John Lynch, Chad Jackson (low-risk), Nick Hayden, Kelly Popinga, etc. Say, next season Marcus Spears, maybe Bobby Carpenter we be free agents, Dallas publicly say they’re not wanted. Then there’s Suggs (who can afford him?), most likely these players are headed for Miami.
