Rich Cimini noted on his blog yesterday that the Jets were interested in former Bucs and Patriots Safety Eugene Wilson, at least enough to place a call.
The Jets did place a call to S/CB Eugene Wilson, my sources tell me, but it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere right now. Eric Mangini, of course, is familiar with Wilson, having coached him in – where else? – New England. Wilson was cut Sunday by the Bucs.
Skirting the Week One rule for veterans is becoming more and more common, and Eugene Wilson fits into this category. If the Jets were to sign Wilson, I’m not sure the team would drop a defensive back right now to make room as they have some depth issues at the position as it is.

The Jets should sign him with no questions asked. I wanted them to sign him in March. He knows Eric’s system and Eric knows him from his Pats days. This is a no brainer. He plays both CB and safety.

He is a lttle bit older now, and may have lost a step, but I stll think he could help this team.

Rotoworld/Houston Chron:
DB Eugene Wilson is expected to sign with the Texans on Wednesday.
Wilson was placed on waivers by Tampa Bay a few days ago. The six-year-veteran, and former Patriot, can also play safety.

Yea but they are accurate this time.
Texans signed DB Eugene Wilson to a one-year contract, according to NFL Network’s Adam Schefter

We only have three safeties on the roster, and only one is bonafide. Forget the week one rule and sign him before someone else does. I’d rather have him start next to K. Rhodes then the other two (Smith and Carroll).
