Lets not forget he picked the Falcons as his team last year and the 49ers the year before. I love the guy but he has been a little bit of a jinx with his pick

This is a re-post from yesterday:

I saw Adam Schein on SNY say that Chad doesn’t throw INTs so I checked to verify what his numbers have been, and of course checked them against Favre.

In the past 5 years CP has 58 TDs to 50 INTs and Favre has 128 TDs to 100 INTs and that includes Favres worst TD to INT season. That is about 1.16 TD to INT for CP and 1.28 to 1 for Favre. So Favre has a better TD to INT ratio than CP over the past 5 years.

Schein made himself look foolish for saying that. Even if Farve, in Chad’s stead, puts up 50/50 numbers but has 10 more TDs than Chad it will make those 6 or 7 games that were lost by 7 points or less turn into wins

I like the odds on the Jets really hurting the Fins. Schein picked the other team.

I enjoy his columns most of the time, you just have to laugh off the constant ridicule of the jets and their fans since he is one of the biggest homers that ever lived (Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots) but as Bent said, at least he admits it. The funniest part to me is that as a lifelong Red Sox fan how quickly he forgot the self-loathing that fan base had for themselves for so many years, yet its the same thing he constantly harps on the jets fans for.

Although having to play in the same division as the best team Satan ever assembled (Pats) and share a city/stadium with the team that just won the superbowl (Giants), I can't really argue right now with the "Being a jets fan is like being a 120 lb. man at a maximum security prison" statement.

I was going to predict this. Simmons always picks the team everyone is down on despite them making obvious improvements. That's the Jets this year. He is usually pretty successful with his sleeper pick too. He called the rise of the Bears, Saints and Browns in recent years.

I disagree with more than half of what he writes (and he is certainly too much of a homer, but he is at least honest about it), but I still enjoy reading the guy most of the time. He does submit the occasional stinker, but he pretty much always makes some thought provoking comments.

So what does it take to be a sports writer? My guess is you have to be a major league douche bag, it the common denominator with all the guys.

I don't care that he is picking us to go 11-5, everything else he wrote rubbed me the wrong way.
