I will be blogging my thoughts during the game. Feel free to add your thoughts/comments/love or hate mail!.
Here is my favorite song about the Dolphins. Shout out to Sec 321!
They are the Miami Dolphins, Miami Dolphins Suck! Marino…… Marino……. Marino…… (you can add your own adjective after the dots…)
It’s that time!
Is anyone afraid of Joey Porter anymore? He looks like he’s lost about 3 steps. I don’t see him being a big factor today.
I am also not a fan of Nance and Simms, when I think of Jim Nance I think of golf.
Am I the only person who thinks of Tony Soprano when I hear them talk about the HC of the MD?
Good coverage, but please Nuge, can we get a touch back?
Wow, it’s weird to see CP in dolphins uni
Jenkins just killed their center, he was at least 3 yards deep. He = LOVE
Favre makes that throw!
Nice quick completion. Why does Favre do that with his chin strap?
The old man runs!
TJ..stay on your feet! I wonder if he was so unused to having room to run that he forgot how to run?
Tackle the man! Bad coverage! Mike is probably smashing his cane
The Run D is nice!
TD!!!!!!!!!!
Play action pass, my favorite play in all of football! I expect that a lot, which is why Cotch is on my fantasy team!!!
I love the GM commercials, buy our cares..PLEASE PLEASE we’ll do anything…
Sticky Ricky… the stickiest of all the icky
The difference between pouha and jenkins is amazing. Pouha is farther off the line and he really doesn’t get any push.
Jenkins smelling out the screen pass.
No sacks, but we collapsing the pocket. Pace pushing Long back.
Long has a stupid Michigan tatto. Not even colored in. Loser.
Nice punt jerk!
I am hungry, what do I want for lunch?
I kind of wanted Brick ot mess that guy up. No one touches our QB!!
Brady is hurt, finally my prayers are answered!
Offense moving nicely! Woody looks ok.
Nuge is hurt. He is not so good.
Hopefully he is ok. This could be a Problem
Lowery keeping contain
your love is like Chad Pennington, Chad pennington is what i… oh wait….. crap can’t sing that one anymore
how can a sandwich cost 2.99? I am thinking might not be the highest quality….
I like taco bell though, so I guess I shouldn’t be questioning food quality.
Our D needs to step up right now.
I like to see our line winning the battle on the LOS
Lowery looking very nice. He is a PLAYER.
Coleman not looking very good.
It’s nice to see Chad play well. But our D looked bad… SUTTON MUST GO!!!!
Ok, good to see a nice run by TJ.
Nugent must GO!
Our O-line needs to get together on the blitz
Can he kick? Looks like not.
STUCKY!!! The Favre Magic!
This kicking game is bad…. What are we going to do?
Hooray for sacking!
TJ is looking good
How many bad comedies will Jay Mohr star in?
WOW… BT
Getting pressure with a 3 man rush. Good coverage.
chad runs!
Half time Someone needs to kick
Food Update: I’m Making Pasta
I like the run game. TJ looking good.
Baker witht a nice grab. Good move.
Oh Crap!
That was a total fumble. UGH, can’t leave points on the field.
Jenkins is still dominating.
Pace getting pressure drawing penelties.
Good Call.
That pass to stucky should have been a delay of game!
TD by TJ!!! On Woody’s side
Nuge showing that toughness.
Gholston gets some pressure, wow, i want to make sure i’m not seeing things,
Calvin Pace really looks like a good fit.
That’s the Chad i know and love, terrible dump offs.
Mangini has a chucky esque look when he’s angry.
Allan…Oops
Yeah Leon. Him for Herm might be the best trade in Jets history.
Wallace Wright is great on ST
These dump offs make me sick. Dink…DUNK
UGH BARTON. Can we stop these guys? I hate the dinking and the dunking, especially when its aginst us.
This Lowery can play. Good pick in the late rounds
PACEEEE!!!!!! All those people who said we overpaid might be eating some crow…
Dwight Lowery can play. What a 4th round pick.
Now let’s see htis O-Line dominate.
That was not a false start.
I really am not a fan of that call. Let’s get a quick slant on that play
Let’s go KC! Beat the Pats
Why is he so soft on Ginn..
Sutton with the no pressure.
Let’s stop this please, I need more fantasy points!
#&%#)(T&%T
Now is when the $ we invested in our O-Line needs to pay off! RUN THE DAMN BALL DOWN THIER THROAT
HUGE 3rd Down
Woody are you serious…
Why do you run the ball?
I am having heartburn

Drew and Kerry! woohoo!
Man, this is nerve racking
WOHHOOOO
JETS WINNNN!!! THE JEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTSSSSSS WIN!

Is it just me or did Allen get to Cotchery before the ball?
YEAH FAVRE!!!!!!!!!!!!! — CHAD SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!! — J-E-T-S JETS! JETS JETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! — JETS 7 FISH 0
Gotta love the play action…and bomb to Cotchery – 7-0!!
Look at Jenkins read the screen
Nugie, Nugie, no!
1. Jenkins looks great – collapsing the pocket on a regular basis.
2. I dunno what’s going on with Nugent. Mangini is not going to have any patience for this. That’s a potentially critical miss.
3. Revis is covering Ginn out of the game. And Lowery just did a nice job not biting on the reverse.
4. CP (”the greatest QB in Jet history” ;) ) just can’t get it down the field. Their offense looks frighteningly familiar.
Need more of a pass rush.
Nice dropped TD by Coles –
Not a drop, just not enough familiarity between Coles and Favre.
Jones just ran for 13 yds — On one play! –
Nice patience by Jones. The line created the hole on the short yardage situation. That didn’t happen last year.
Regardless — Coles 1 catch — 1 non-catch in the endzone leading to Nugent’s missed FG attempt — Favre keeps going to Cotchery –
Coles just dropped another one –
That was pass interference
We’ll have to watch Coles the rest of the game — Maybe Chad sent a text to him, as well –
Graham can’t kick a FG?
TD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 13-0 — Possibly 14-0 or 15-0 JETS!!!!!!!!!!!!! — FAVRE RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Somebody call Jay Feely –
OMG…..We need PAT’s that’s a given. I can do that!
There’s the rush I’m talking about
At least Jones has shown something today — I’m not sure about the trick plays — Let Favre pick them apart –
Is Jay Feely’s number listed?
Clemens is practicing extra points –
Chad looks so horrible — Thank God he’s no longer on the Jets –
1:43 means another 6 or possible 7 or 8 for the Jets –
too bad we didn’t get to draft kendall langford… nice pass rush from d.bowens. bad pass blocking today for jets.
Maybe not — That was ugly –
Wow, Brett will really be good once he knows his receivers better, but I’m worried about the sacks. He needs better protection. The second half could be rough since it so hot. The score should be at least 17 to 7.
Four runs in a row by Jones to open the second half — Didn’t we trade for Brett Favre? –
Another run — This time by Washington — Let Favre throw –
Thank you — 29 yd pass Favre to Chris Baker –
Damn –
Thats why you stay with the run.
Where is WOODY??????
Throw everything at Chad — Run it back for a TD –
The challenge will fail –
That was a waste of a timeout by Mangini — He should do a lap –
Knock Chad in the teeth –
Smart play by the Fish –
Okay — Passing down — let’s run this back for a touchdown –
Chad’s getting nervous — He will make a mistake –
Why didn’t you throw it for 16 yards, Chad?
I maintain we need to throw the ball –
Cotch again — Is Coles still on the team? –
Throw the ball Throw the ball Throw the ball –
Another drop by Coles — This time pass interference is called –
Throw it in the endzone –
Nice block by the ref on catch and run by Stuckey –
TD Thomas Jones — We salute you — Jets 20-7 –
Chad’s down 13 in the 3rd — Kick his ass, Seabass –
The Chiefs just scored — NE 14 KC 10
When will FOX dump out of the Eagles/Rams?
Where are all the geniuses that wanted to start Leon over TJ because of a few preseason carries now?
TJ – 17 carries, 87 yards and a TD
Leon – 5 carries, 10 yards
Leon is NOT an every down back. He avoids contact on every play, TJ is never afraid of a hit.
Good to see The Nuge back as well.
Joe B. — The criticism of Jones was legitimate — This is the most we’ve seen from Jones as a Jet — Damn good to see, though –
“The man moving was the eleventh” — nice –
We’re sitting on the lead –
Johnny Styne -
I disagree, I thought the evidence wasn’t significant enough to go crazy, and my quarrel is also with the idea that Leon could be an every down back. Had me thinking what Leon everyone has been watching? An extraordinary scatback, but will never be an every down back.
TJ ran behind a terrible line last year and still got 1,100+ yards, damn near a miracle.. The fact that people didn’t want to give him a CHANCE behind this line because of preseason is ridiculous.
The guy is a total gamer and I’m very glad he’s still our starting RB.
That’s why the Jets kept Wallace Wright
WTF was that penalty?
FINALLY –
droseatwork — The trade for Favre is the best in Jets history –
Barton seems to be developing a talent for keeping drives alive by hitting the QB in the head.
SWIPE!!!
I am on record — I did NOT like sitting on this lead — We have Brett Favre and we have receivers — Put some damn points on the board –
Ready to punch Mangini — He must have bet the under –
Loving the RESURGENT BT. He and Pace look like quite a pair on the outside, though it is just the Dolphins.
4th and 7 — What will Chad do?
THAT is not a good sign for our defense –
Mangini better not pull this crap against a team that has a quarterback –
Sitting on a 20-7 lead — Taking the ball out of Favre’s hands in the second half — This is — Well, you know what this is –
Johnny, I’d agree with you about being more aggressive if they weren’t backed up to the 7 yard line. However, the defense does need to be more aggressive instead of playing so vanilla. The Dolphins have no receivers, Sutton should confuse this young o-line. It was working the rest of the game.
Ilan — They’ve been ultra-conservative on offense the whole second half –
In bounds –
We are playing soft coverage –
This game is on Mangini –
Every curse word you could imagine –
If this is our gameplan for the season we are not making the playoffs — Win or lose this game is sickening –
We win — Mangini has a lot of explaining to do –
Done. Ballgame.
Holy God that was close. Ruger Relle!!!
Seriously, WTF was that? — We stopped throwing after the first half — WHY? — One word — Why? –
This was a disgrace, considering the garbage team we were playing. If this is any indication of the future, we are in deep crap. The O line did not look very good today. The D allowed way too many catches form a poor offense. Way too close for comfort against a crap team.
poor play calling all around
Okay, preseason over, Mangini — Don’t sit on a lead the entire second half again — Very Herm Edwardsian –
Sickening –
Some people don’t realize that most of the NY football world is also watching t.he Jets
Calm down guys. The defense was good against the run which is good. The pass defense was not as good but that should be expected at this point. The o-line has two new pieces and a new QB with his cadence. They protected well and run-blocked fairly well. Where they need work is with familiarity and that will come the more they play and practice together. The biggest thing this team needs is for the o-line to gel and for Coles and Favre to develop some chemistry.
DERELLE REVIS IS RIDICULUS!!
I don’t like the Prevent Defense and that is exactly what the JETS played on the fish’s 2nd TD. I thought the Defense played well overall. I don’t like Drew Coleman, but he did come up big in 4th quarter. He looked lost in 1st half. And he don’t have someone to kick extra points if Nugent is hurt??? Come on Mangini!!
this game was a learning experience for the jets. Game speed is a lot different from preseason. We shouldve had 35 points in this game. Penalties and dropped passes didnt help us. If we play a perfect game we score 35 every game. Hopefully Coles understands that. Great into at the end of the game by Rev. He looked like a probowler today. The defensive line looked slow and tired at the end. No pressure on our fine feathered throwing friend Chad. It was funny watching the dolphin receivers go long and not get the ball.
I ASK ONE QUESTION:
You have seen Farve exactly as he is. ………….
You have also seen Pennington as he is.
Was it still worth throwing Pennington .under the B’way Brett Bus?
I WILL ask this question from time to time on this blog.
Whew, that was close, but a win is a win. Jet fans should stop complaining. I heard that it was an oven down on the field so just imagine what it was like in full pads. Brett will get so much better with more time. He still needs to get in sinc with his receivers, but there is great promise here. Go Jets! We heartbroken GB fans are happy for you.
When its all said and done, I am estimating being a jets fan will have taken 10 years off my life. Still, 1-0 is 1-0. Here are my thoughts:
For one thing, in today’s NFL however you get a win you are happy, BUT, that was the most conservative play calling by this staff on both sides of the ball I have ever seen (well, since last year). I’ll cut a little slack that these guys are used to having to play it this way, but there is a reason we got Brett Favre. You throw that damn ball on 3rd and 7 and you ice the game. Or, hey, you could have run there had we not gone in a turtle shell prior which meant MIA knew we were running that.
-We have two really good young CBs, though I’ll reserve getting too excited about Lowery until he faces a better offense
-Run D is vastly improved, loving Jenkins
-We could put some serious pressure on the QB if we ever blitzed, but good job by the front 7 regardless, Ellis, BT, KJ, and Pace specifically
-The O-line needs to get better at protecting Favre, nice run game though
-Loved the gang tackling by the D, they took very little for granted
-Kicking game is abysmal
All in all, this is a MUCH better team than last year and to get a win on a day when the kicking game was abysmal and the coaching questionable (being nice) is a good sign, but both of those need to change fast. Bring on the pats!
hank/naples -
Yes.
A good, solid win. The Dolphins won the field position battle in the second half because of Nugent’s injury and the play-calling was a little conservative at the end, but this game was only close because Nugent missed that FG and the Jets couldn’t get the second extra point. The defense on the run and on the WRs was excellent. The pass rush was excellent. They have to work on defending the TE, but a nice win in a game that every Jets fan thought was a trap game.
All I can say about Pace and Lowery is: WOW!!! BT looks like he is back (although, his pass defense is still shaky). Jenkins always pushes the pocket back. Thomas Jones played well. The penalties by the OL were a little worrisome. The hold on Mangold on the first drive and Woody’s false start at the 2 minute warning were not good. But, the OL will gel. All in all, given the 100 degree heat, blazing sun and starting out on the road without a kicker, a very hopeful win.
The negative: Nugent. I know it’s totally subjective, but I can’t stand him. To me, he’s the final reminder of the Harmway team and I’d like to see him cut. Is Jay Feely still available?
BRING ON THE PATS!!!!!!!!!
Hank/Naples,
Yes. Chad played well, hitting the underneath stuff and making it close at the end, but he could not have made either of Brett’s TD throws. Here’s what you should do every time you want to ask that question, answer this one first: if Favre and Chad had switched teams, would the Jets still have won? The answer is No. That answers your question, so now you don’t have to ask it.
HankNaples, no doubt – for one thing, the Jets never would have been the team jumping out to the lead with Chad, we would have been the ones rallying but falling just short, seen it a million times.
SackDance99 — 1) See the immediate calls for Jay Feely earlier in this thread — 2) How can anyone justify the shutting down of the offense with the entire second half to go? — That is not going to fly against a team that has a quarterback — Secondly, we could have lost this game and that’s only because Erica Mangini did not let Brett Favre play in the second half — Again, sickening –
Sorry — I did not (consciously) intend to write “Erica Mangini” — That is not fair — Eric is a man, regardless of the fact that I vehemently disagreed with his gameplan today –
Yes it was worth trading for Favre because Chad, and I like Chad, could not take the JETS to the Super Bowl and Brett can. So the trade was worth it. It is just too bad we have to face him twice a year.
Sackdance99:
It’s really not fair to answer your own question.
Howevre mine: “Bring on thethe Pats” yousay. Is that w/wo Their baby boy super star?
The Ed:
Jumping a tiny bit to conclusions, Arent you?
Lowery.
Pace.
Jenkins.
Those three were huge today. Lowery was especially impressive for a rookie in his first NFL game — not only on coverage, but also on run support. Showed great instinct on a lot of plays — goodbye Miller!
Pace was everywhere — creating pressure and solid in run support. He made Jake Long’s NFL debut ugly.
Jenkins — nice way to clog up the middle. Seems like a long time since the middle of the pile wasn’t going backward on every play!
They held Pretty Ricky and Ronnie Brown to under 50 yards — combined! When was the last time this team could say that.
A little closer than it should’ve been, but a lot of that falls on Nugent. That was at least another 4 points that would’ve put this one out of reach earlier.
Oh, and nice job by Thomas Jones, who I was worried about. Showed some nice burst — great stiff arm on the TD, too!
A win is a win. Take it!
Boy was I sweating in the 4th quarter today.
one word L O W E R Y
WE GOT COUNTEM 2 SHUT DOWN CORNERS
need either healthy nugent or new kicker
R in CT:
I take it !! But, …I LOOOOOOOVE Jenkins and he had very little to do with it , he had limited playing. Our TWO outstanding corners had EVERYTHING to do with it.
I LOOOOOVE Lowery, I picked him before most of you to make the starting line up. SOO. Slow dowm, Don’t becomne a Styne freak.
Johnny Styne
You are a thin skinned, bitter, angry fool. This is but the first game of a long season, and your short sighted biased opinions based on one to many beers are the rantings of a frustrated and angry man.
The smug and sarcastic rant you offer appeals to NE fans more then to any of our own.
jetchick,
Thanks for saying everything I’ve been thinking. What’s the strength of this team? The defense. So, you let the D win the game for you. Favre easily could have had 2-3 more turnovers (the attempted handoff to Leon Washington on the fumbled snap and the hail mary no look pass to Stuckey being only 2 examples). He’s thrown interceptions at the end of games before to lose the game for his team so you give the ball to the RBs who had been moving the ball the entire game. When this team needs Favre to win games for them he will be there but this boils down to not wanting him to make a stupid play like the attempted handoff to Washinton and giving the Phins a short field.

Why is it that I Love you more each day. Is it because I wish that I lived in NY or that I totaly argee withall you comments!!
Rhodes/Revis/Lowery = Top 5 NFL secondary.
BOTTOM LINE JETS WIN PERIOD
just found this on rotoworld.com
Yahoo Sports’ Michael Silver says Tom Brady is expected to miss the rest of the season with ligament damage in his knee.
Two sources tell Silver that Brady has a “severe” knee injury that “could” include a torn ACL and perhaps other ligament and cartilage damage. “It’s bad,” a team source said told Silver. “We’re going to have to play without him.” Silver is one of the best NFL reporters alive, and you have to trust him here. Fantasy owners should not make a move with Brady until it’s confirmed elsewhere though. Obviously, it’s devastating news for the entire Patriots offense. Sep. 7 – 7:15 pm et
Hank, Chad just played a very typical game for him. He needs a great running game and had none today. It is almost impossible for Chad to play from behind. There was never any doubt Getting Favre was a no brainer. Jets will go 10-6, Miami 5-11. Get over Chad and start rooting for Favre, of course you can always become a Dolphin fan.
Johnny,
I thought the Jets poor field position dictated the more conservative approach. The first drive of the half when Favre “fumbled” also set the tone for the more conservative approach. You have to hand it to Chad, he took what the defense gave him and made the game close, but the bottom line is that the Fins only scored one TD in the second half on their home field in blazing hot conditions.
If I have a criticism, besides Nugent, it would be for Eric Smith. I was not impressed and I actually found myself wishing that Elam played more.
Pete 57:
I got over Chad as much as I Got over the Mud Bowl. I had tickets, hotel reservatons, car rental and the bookies $. Then Todd had a field day. I picked the Jets to go 10-6 BEFORE Farve.
Hello! simply super resource
