Want Jets Tickets for $1?

by Bassett on September 11th, 2008 at 8:50 am

A new website that helps folks buy and sell things online with easy to set up “web stores” called The SOC Exchange is offering 10 pairs of tickets to this Sunday’s Jets – Patriots game for a dollar a ticket as part of a promotion to get the word out about its new online selling marketplace.  Here’s a direct link to the promotion.

Some notes:

1) It looks like you need a PayPal account
2) The tickets are 300 level seats and some come with parking.
3) Tickets go on sale this afternoon at 3PM ET.

Good luck!

UPDATE: The CEO of the company has promised refunds.  For more, read the email I got from the PR person and a message from the CEO after the jump.  They’re working to sort it out, just give them some time.

Brian,

I have just posted the comment below on behalf of Franco Lagudi, the CEO and Founder of the SOC Exchange.   Unfortunately some of the listings did not register as sold due to the overwhelming response which caused a technical glitch - leading to the confusion.  As you were so kind as to promote this to your members for us, I must apologize to you also.   The tickets were sold to the first nine buyers and they will get their tickets and be able to go to the game. I can assure you.   Regards Carrie

Dear All,

Due to an overwhelming response to our ticket promotion this afternoon, our website has experienced technical difficulties.  Three of the promotional listings continued to show availability after the corresponding tickets had already been sold to the first buyer.   Please accept our sincerest apologies for this problem.  We will immediately refund Paypal accounts and are working with our technical team to ensure that this technical glitch does not arise again in the future.   Given the inconvenience today, I would like to offer the opportunity to obtain a free, twelve month membership to the SOC Exchange website to those which participated in the tickets promotion and were unsuccessful. I will contact all those which were unsuccessful directly via email.   We will inform the successful buyers of their purchase shortly.   Thank you for your interest in the SOC Exchange, and again, please accept my sincere apologies for this problem.

Very truly yours,
Franco Lagudi
Founder and CEO The SOC Exchange.com

    is this legit?

  2. avatar Bassett says:

I was contacted by the organization … rather than throw away money on advertising, they wanted to do something that would get people to the site and get them using it. I’ve not used it myself, but it seems to be.

  3. avatar Chris says:

how would they get them shipped to us by sunday…

  4. avatar Dan` says:

Honestly, is this legit i went to the website and it looks like a scam, I mean I know you are trying to advertise a product or in this case their website, but 1$ I mean come on. when somebody buys these tickets please post a comment to say that this is legit. thanks!

  5. avatar droseatwork says:

they advertise on WFAN. so don’t go if you don’t want. more chances for me!

  6. avatar pat d says:

Legit or not. Are you scared to lose a dollar.

  7. avatar Chris says:

i could care less but once again how could we get them intime…

  8. avatar mr.die-hard jets fan says:

This is probably a good place to ask it because everyone and their mother is going to find out about the $1 jet tickets…but i’m goin to the game by bus so i’m not going to have my car there. im lookin for ppl to tailgate with, any diehard jets fans out there? i think i’ll be there around 1 oclock…i got my own liquor, im just lookin to have a good time…shoot me over an e-mail or gimme a text. by the way, ill be sitting in section 310, row 11…so if u see the crazy mofo, rockin the 24, screaming his head off, chanting D!Fence! on first down, that will be me.
    12TH MAN WILL BE THERE.

  9. Hi,
We’ll send the tickets to the buyers by UPS from our New York office to ensure delivery Friday. Our site is new, but very much ‘legit’.

The SOC Exchange offers sellers their own website for a dollar a month, where they can list as many items as they want, and not be charged listing fees or commission charges. We think its time to change the game a little.

We’re trying to make it less expensive for people to sell online, but also providing them with tools to help them sell their items/products. So if you have a basement full of clutter – start selling!

Ticket Tip – If you want to buy the $1 tickets, sign-up as a buyer on the site (free of charge) beforehand, then you’ll be all ready to go at 3pm ET.

  10. avatar Ed L says:

    i got my tickets!

  11. avatar mark says:

so did I….but the listing I bought is still up. here is hoping this actually works.

  12. avatar Ed L says:

okay wierd thing is the tickets i bought are still listed as a buy now? confused yes…hey SOC EXCHANGE can u provide more details?

  13. avatar Ed L says:

lol yea we prolly all bought tickets but only one of us will get them and yet we will all be charged

  14. avatar Mad Dog Mo says:

I did too…I hope there is not a “sucker” sign waiting for me…

  15. avatar Najy says:

This sucks… I kept trying to buy now and it wouldnt let me click on it…

The buy now button wasnt working.

  16. avatar Ed L says:

the more people that post and say they got them the worse this is looking

oh well atleasts it through paypal and its only 2 bucks

  17. avatar Just give me the damn ball says:

I made two purchases, such a chump.

  18. avatar Najy says:

    I couldnt make any purchases…

  19. avatar Lonnie G says:

I just ordered 2 tickets. Think I’ll gt them by Sunday? When I registered on their website, they didn’t ask for my address. I assume they will get it from paypal??? Anyway, it’s a tiny risk for an enormous payoff.

  20. avatar Ed L says:

i think we all just got beat for our hard earned 2 dollars

  21. avatar Tom says:

For a website that claimed to have only 20 tickets, it looks like about 100 got “sold”

  22. avatar vbsiena24 says:

Lol i won 4 tickets too. Let’s see this not work after all.

    Something is screwy.

  23. avatar gsteigs says:

i just got an email from my paypal and the co. took the money out so im hoping i got mine. also called co and left message wondering when and how im going to get my tickets

  24. avatar Derek says:

I bought a pair also but I am waiting to see if it is a reality. I got a receipt but it states,
An email with your order summary has been sent to my e-mail address. Has anyone receieved this e-mail yet?

  25. avatar Ed L says:

i got an email from paypal confirming the payment was received but thats it….nothing else from them

  26. avatar case says:

yeah it said i got the 4 tickets i dont know what the deal is but hopefully mr soc exhange lets us now the deal

  27. avatar Mad Dog Mo says:

I think Paypal is going to have to make a lot of $2 and $4 refunds.

The site said the tickest would be shipped UPS for a Friday delivery.

I will beleive it when I see the tickets.

  28. avatar Najy says:

So how many people total have won so far? lol

  29. avatar vbsiena24 says:

I got email confirmations from SOCexchange I guess that’s a good thing?

  30. avatar DB says:

I got two emails……one from Paypal and one from SOC Exchange. I guess I got them then???

Did anyone else get an email from SOC entitled “The Item(s) You Purchased”?

  31. avatar vbsiena24 says:

Yea I got that one DB.

  32. avatar gsteigs says:

i just received an email from soc exchange confirming my order , shipping is free and there shipping 4 tickets awsome

  33. avatar Tom says:

Ugh, how many people went from excited to annoyed by this?

  34. avatar SS says:

I got the email from SOC with “The Item(s) You Purchased” along with a PayPal confirmation… just another one to add to the numbers.

  35. avatar mark says:

sold signs have gone up. they are going to have a hard time sorting this out unless there’s just a lot of lucky JetsBlog fans that won. I e-mailed them because my PayPal address is my old one, so once I get word I’ll post here.

  36. avatar case says:

yeah we all prolly got hosed it sounds like

  37. avatar Chris says:

i got an email from them sayin congrats on buying this item…

  38. avatar vbsiena24 says:

Yea I guess when’s it too good to be true…

  39. avatar Uch says:

I received the e-mails also from SOC and PayPal. I won’t believe it until the tickets are in my hand though.

  40. avatar Alex says:

I was on directly at 3pm sharp and ordered 4 tickets. When I went back to the site, that listing was marked as sold. I then got an email that said my order was confirmed for 4 tickets and that the payment was made. They listed my shipping address, and I also got a reciept number. Anyone else get something similar?

  41. avatar ben says:

i got the EXACT same thing. for the 4 tickets too. damn the man…. well worth it tho, just to get so excited only to be let down. best $4 ever!

  42. avatar Chris says:

yea it seems unless all us jets fans on here bought them…

  43. avatar Ed L says:

lol it looks like two people got the confirmed 4 tickets sent….this should be interesting

  44. avatar Ed L says:

hey bassett find out where this guy who contacted u lives… so we can all pay him a visit and he can reimburse us

  45. avatar Moose says:

I purchased the four pack as well … I agree with Ben though, best $4 I spent all day.

  46. avatar vbsiena24 says:

Well he had 20 tickets total Let’s get a running count going to see how many were bought from people on this blog.

    I purchased 4 total (2 +2)

  47. avatar gsteigs says:

make that 3 for 4 tickets i was on that site at 3 sharp

  48. avatar Mad Dog Mo says:

I got a reciept from Paypal but that was it…no email from The SOC Exchange…

  49. avatar Derek says:

    I purchased 4 also (2 seperate auctions)

  50. avatar Chris says:

lol ok lets stop thinking like jets fan and think outside the box maybe they had more then 10 sets and it was to see who really trusted the site… they seem to be legit they are secured and why would paypal do biz with them if they werent… lets just hope i get my tix lol :)

  51. avatar vbsiena24 says:

It would be pretty cool if all 20 tickets were won by people on this blog.

  52. avatar Just give me the damn ball says:

I got two lots of two, but no email from the soc exchange.

  53. avatar Alex says:

You would think this would be legit with it being on WFAN and all, is there really a probable chance that we all got screwed here?

  54. avatar Just give me the damn ball says:

I already have tickets, but it would have been nice to make someones day….. oh well.

  55. avatar Najy says:

I think that everyone got screwed… Good thing its only pocket change

  56. avatar vbsiena24 says:

Franco Lagudi is the owner of the website.

Apparently he was on Fox Business. Check out his blog.

    http://blog.thesocexchange.com/

  57. avatar Chris says:

ok ehre is where my jets fan thinkin comes into play… what if there wasnt anytickets and they did this just to get people to click the hell out of there site…

i went from over joyed to pissed in 2.2 secs

  58. avatar Fadam says:

Also bought two tickets, you can add me to the count. Doesn’t seem like everyone can get them, but maybe a few of us will, and it was like a lottery?

  59. avatar Steve in Philly says:

I got both emails too. I can only imagine the mess that is starting but hey man, $2 well spent. Gotta take play the game to have a chance to win.

  60. avatar vbsiena24 says:

Better not be a lottery. It should be first to click first to win.

  61. avatar Chris says:

i placed my order at 2:58 atomic clock time…

  62. avatar Alex says:

This guy was on FOX business too, and no where on the site did it say anything about it being a lottery, nor does it on that FOX business thing. That leads me to belive that maybe it was more than 20 tickets? I’m trying to be an optimist here, I can’t really belive this is one giant scam

  63. avatar gsteigs says:

what will clicking there site do for them

  64. avatar Boston College says:

I bought two as well. I really liked the fact that there were no pictures or descriptions to go along with the tickets, so even if you did get them, who knows where in the hell you’re sitting.

  65. avatar Just give me the damn ball says:

I never got the “second email”, so maybe congrats to those who did?

  66. avatar Alex says:

Also, for a start up wesbsite trying to gain credibility and popularity, wouldn’t it seem foolish to lose all of that right from the start by being recognized as a scammer? On the other hand, if this is real, what a huge amount of word of mouth gushing endorsements they would get. Thats just another way too look at it…

  67. avatar Chris says:

    gteigs…

they would get helped by the fact that they my be signed up for adsense which is a google site that give u revenue per click or view of one of your pages on your site…

  68. avatar mark says:

I purchased 2 at 2:58 also. Got the PayPal confirmation, but not the SOC one.

I feel they are giving out tickets, but didn’t seem like the site was capable of handling the onslaught it received and was probably take multiple orders for the same item. Maybe not on purpose, but because it wasn’t able to handle it.

I guess we’ll see. Either way some people are going to be left out.

  69. avatar Chris says:

well it seems like some people are getting the confirmed emails from soc and some not i got one so hopefully thats a good thing…

  70. avatar mr.die-hard jets fan says:

how about the print out from paypal…it says that i got 2 tickets, item #636…what number item did you guys get

  71. avatar Derek says:

    My paypal receipt says
    Payment For:
JETS game this SUNDAY – TWO Tickets!
    Item #636

    Anyone else bought item #636??

  72. avatar DB says:

    I got item #637

  73. avatar Mad Dog Mo says:

    I have item # 634

  74. avatar Alex says:

Mine says item# 634…what does this mean exactly?

  75. avatar frank says:

I got item # 636 as well….. I think Mark is on to something

  76. avatar Steve in Philly says:

Did any NOT win tickets? I think that might be an answer. I wasn’t implying there was a lottery. I was just saying that if I lost those $2, I’d still be happy I took the risk.

  77. avatar Chris says:

    i got 640…

  78. avatar onemoregunsling says:

    i got item #640….anyone else?

  79. avatar Alex says:

So what are the odds that everyone who got an email from paypal confirming the payment was made are actually gonna get the tickets?

  80. avatar vbsiena24 says:

    I won a #636 and a #640. So maybe I’ll get the #640?

  81. avatar mark says:

I should say, #637 with a print out time of 2:59 pm

anyone else beat that with the same #?? interesting to know if I’m beat already by just members on this blog then I can go back to work. haha.

  82. avatar Mad Dog Mo says:

Maybe the site is run by a Patriots Fan and he is just exposing how desperate Jets Fans are to beleive in something good…

  83. avatar Chris says:

    i got 640 with a printout of 3:59

  84. avatar frank says:

I think the odds are really slim that everyone who got the e-mail is going to get the tickets. More than likely, the site accepted more payments than they had tickets. Hopefully, they would do the right thing and refund the $2 to all of the people who lost out. I know $2 isn’t a big amount, but it’s the right thing to do.

  85. avatar DB says:

637 with a printout time of 2:46pm – dont know how that is possible but that is what it says

  86. avatar Just give me the damn ball says:

    636 and 640

  87. avatar frank says:

I find it hard to believe that this would be a scam. I mean, the only reason I was on that site was the ad on the ‘FAN. I mean, if they were trying to scam people by appearing on Fox News and buying ad time on WFAN, I’d imagine there are a helluva lot less expensive ways to commit fraud.

  88. avatar Alex says:

Anyone else think that after the big ordeal that is sure to follow this mess Paypal is going to be hesitant to work with this site in the future?

  89. avatar Ed L says:

yea cuz paypal is gonna be the one to go through all the trouble to refund us… paperwork ect.

  90. avatar christos says:

    #637
    @ 11:59:27

  91. avatar Mad Dog Mo says:

I am going to write this one off as a scam…its been an hour and a half…no confirmation from the SOC folks…just a receipt from PayPal.

I hope I get my $4 bucks back and my name and address is not put on every sucker list in the nation.

  92. avatar Chris says:

damn mad dog… i got my confirmation from soc but ur making me think it was a scam lol… i dont know what to think…

  93. avatar mark says:

probably should scrap the printer time idea, as that could be off due to programing/computer clock, etc.

I don’t think we’re going to sort this out on here or anytime soon, but if we want to use something more logical. My PayPal e-mail was received at 2:58.

  96. avatar Bassett says:

I’ve contacted them and asked them to give refunds to all of you who won’t get tickets. Let’s wait and see what they do before we jump to conclusions.

  97. avatar gsteigs says:

    my #634

  98. avatar gsteigs says:

i also got a email from the sux co.

  99. avatar Chris says:

Damnit don’t they know us jets fan are negative as it is… we don’t need this… IF it is a scam

  100. avatar pat d says:

    This is the funny.

  102. avatar Dave H. says:

I’ve got both a SOC confirmation and a paid PayPal confirmation, so please do not try sending me a refund or a consolation prize. Just send me the tickets I bought and paid for. Thanks!

  103. avatar LI MATT says:

Hey Franco I suggest you make good on this! Get on the phone with ticket brokers and do the right thing!

  104. avatar LI MATT says:

What do the Jets have to say about this? They used the team name in their advertising. I am really annoyed by this and I don’t want a free membership to this dopey site.

  105. avatar Boston College says:

I just got an email from Carrie Gonzalez at Southard Inc saying that I had actually gotten tickets and they will be at my place tomorrow. Anyone else get the same?

  106. avatar Mad Dog Mo says:

I think they purposely “over-sold” the tickets so they could convienently offer us “free” memberships to a free website.

This is total garbage. I hope some of you actually get tickets…the rest of us got the shaft.

I wonder what the Attorney General would think of this scam?

  107. avatar mark says:

got the same message, BC. they are being sent to the wrong address (I rushed through it and that’s my old one, oops!). but hoping they come and hoping I can sort this address thing out.

  108. avatar Chris says:

I agree this is ludicrous, we payed for tickets and we shoudl get the tickets we were told… I do not want an free membership, I want tickets to this jets game or I will report this to the attorney general and to the better business bureau… this is wrong… we bought tickets and we should not have to suffer for your mistake.

  109. avatar D says:

I agree with Mad Dog Mo. Nice try to “give” us a free membership as consolation. I’d rather have the cost of a 12 month membership refunded to our Paypal account and then let us decide if we want to use the service.

  110. avatar Sean says:

I also got an email from Carrie. I responded what about the other 3 i purchased and was charged for and she has yet to respond

  111. avatar gsteigs says:

i received a letter that i didnt win and sorry for the inconvenience screw them they messed up i will never use that site unless they correct the problem and get me tickets that i paid for

  112. avatar LI MATT says:

I suggest everyone call WFAN tomorrow after they are done with the Radiothon and call out their advertiser on the air! This was FALSE advertising. It got everyones hopes up, and then smacked them in the face.

  113. avatar Nelson says:

BOOOOOOOOOOOO! nice job SOC….Way to come through on this one!

  114. avatar mark says:

Can you really claim that you ‘paid for tickets’ and didn’t get them? It was clearly a contest. Yes, it was a shame that people who thought for a few hours that they won didn’t, but it’s not like they aren’t giving you your money back. Everyone knew there was limited number of tickets going into it.

Might as well for the FAN tomorrow and complain that you didn’t win when you called in for tickets for the Mets game.

  115. avatar Mike says:

I got no response from carrie and will not be going to the game….this pretty much sucks

  116. avatar Mad Dog Mo says:

Don’t call radio shows and complain…that will only give them free advertising. If you want to call someone and complain call Andrew Cuomo’s Office.

  117. avatar Mad Dog Mo says:

I got my $4 refund from the SUC exchange. It still sucks.

  118. avatar Jason Birmingham says:

What a bunch of cry babies. You guys have been crying more than a group of 11 year old girls who just found out they aren’t going to see The Jonas Brothers.

So you didn’t win $1 dollar tickets here’s a plan…Get off the Internet or put down your playstation controllers, walk up the stairs out of your parents basement and go get a job, then you will have money to actually bu tickets for the JETS!

When your done calling Andrew Cuomo and The Attorney Genaral, maybe you can call your Mommy’s too!

By the way maybe you can use your dollar refund to go by a box of tissues…and safe a few for Sunday afternoon as you babies will need more tissues once The Pats kick the Jets butts!.

    Go PATS!

  119. avatar Wil says:

They NEVER HAD ANY TIX IN THE FIRST PLACE! They just wanted to see how effective their ads were among the sports fan demographic! Instead of doing this legit they just got all of our hopes up and wasted all of our time! They send you an e-mail offering you a 12 month subscription to their site for free! What a joke! Is that so they can offer us Knicks tix that don’t exist over the winter. I will never spend $1 on this site!!!

  120. avatar Wil says:

Hey Jason Birmingham, I don’t know how it works in boston, but in NY if you offer something for sale and advertise it on the radio you should deliver. I am going to get a refund and thats more than I can say for all you Pats fans who placed bets on your team for the over under before week 1. LOLOLOL! Have fun finishing second in the division to the J-E-T-S !

  121. avatar Chris says:

hey birmingham… have fun with sand cassel as ur qb… as far as these bastards are concerned i havent gotten a refund nor an email saying i have won or an email saying i havent won wtf…

  122. avatar Mad Dog Mo says:

Birmingham…I do have a job…I make plenty of money…I hate people that run scams.

Oh by the way…you will never see me posting on a Patriots Website. You know why…I hate the Patriots. I am a Jets Fan.

    Go somewhere else jackass.

  123. avatar Mad Dog Mo says:

One more thing…Andrew Cuomo is the Attorney General of New York. They are one and the same…not seperate people. One of the functions of his position is as the state’s lead consumer advocate. He is exactly who you should call in this circumstance.

    Oh yeah…at least I have a mother.

  124. avatar Dan says:

Birminham, typical pats fan hahahahahahah… so upset about losing brady you came to this website to get out your frustration get a life and stopping bitching on a jets website!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  125. avatar Chris says:

hey guys just to update… i got an email from the carrie lady as well this morning she said she mistyped my email address yesterday…
