The Jets travel Week 3 to play a wounded Chargers team, a team that lost their first two games by a combined three points.  The Jets will have to do their best to contain the Chargers big plays, and try to keep the ball moving against the team.  One thing is for sure, the team can score points and is automatic from the Red Zone.

Storylines to consider today …

Jets Run Offense v. Chargers Run Defense - After last week’s ‘incident’ no one wants to hear it, and everyone’s talking about the passing game and how the Chargers are susceptible to it, but the running game is going to be as or more important to the Jets winning this game.  If the Jets can get ahead and grind it will be key to keeping the Chargers Offense off the field.  If the Jets can run the ball and wear down the defense, that will work to the Jets favor as well.  San Diego has been worse when teams run the ball to the left side of the offensive formation, but with D’Brick, it’s not exactly a strength for the Jets so keep an eye on where the team looks to run it and see if they pull Brandon Moore or use a FB/TE to help create some space.

Jets Pass Offense v. Chargers Pass Defense - You’ve heard the phrase ‘make hay while the sun shines?’  Well, let’s just hope the sun is still shining.  The Chargers have struggled in creating pressure on the quarterback, only notching two sacks in two games.  This has exposed the secondary, and people are learning how to play around last year’s breakout player, Antonio Rodgers-Cromartie.  The Jets would be wise to run Favre’s favorite pass — the slant — as much as they can on this defense.

Jets Run Defense v. Chargers Run Offense – Predictive scoring systems don’t seem to care that LaDanian Tomlinson might be limited in this game, and last week Darren Sproles underscored that point.  Whoever the Chargers line up behind QB Philip Rivers, they are going to have a game-changer in their backfield.  LaDanian can still be dangerous up the middle, but look for Sproles to try and work the edges more.  The Chargers will break some big plays, but the linebackers and secondary needs to be ready to step up and limit the damage.  With a good passing and running game in place, this will be the first real test of the young season for the Jets up the middle of their defense.  Let’s hope that David Harris buckles his chinstrap extra tight for tonight.

Jets Pass Defense v. Chargers Pass Offense – Betta ask somebodayyyy!!  Philip ‘Marmalard‘ Rivers will try to embarrass the brothers of Delta House tonight … but no more.  Tonight the Jets secondary is going to stand up and metaphorically ask … “was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?”  In all seriousness, this game could be the national coming out party for this secondary … Rhodes and Revis … you guys ready?  Vincent Jackson and Chris Chambers will do some damage on the edges, but as the season has shown us, it’s going to be the Tight Ends and Running Backs that tear apart this defense, and the Chargers have the weapons to use.  Look for Justin Miller to bolster the lagging play at the nickel, if he can go.  The biggest receiving thret is still Antonio Gates when plays break down.  The Jets would be wise to assign Rhodes to him as much as they can and pit one athlete versus another.

Somewhere in the distance … Phil Collins ‘In the Air Tonight’ is playing … enjoy the game and we’ll be back later with a recap!

The only story line that is important is whether the Jets have time to add more kickers before the game.

  2. avatar jas says:

Jets just signed a specialty HOLDER and have to cut another guy!

  3. avatar Jeff says:

Special teams is the important thing for the Jets. Will it be their achilles heel for the 3rd straight week??? Stay tuned!

  4. avatar rasmusbach says:

god, i had a mild heartattack, when that hit happened

  5. avatar Zach says:

Anyone else worried we are going to get run over tonite?

  6. avatar jas says:

Zach- go to the jets release WR Marcus Henry posts. that should answer your question.

  7. avatar C$ says:

Mark my words..the jets will try a trick play tonight…maybe a flea flicker ..maybe a reverse where brad smith throws a pass…somekind of trick play (more than just your run of the mill reverse)

  8. avatar jas says:

Who did the jets cut to add the flea?

  9. avatar spent says:

You want a toe? I can get you toe.

  10. avatar hank/naples says:

    Guys :

Don’t worry about mangini nor the CS Wory about Farve. ..HE MUST EARN HIS 13 MILLION TONITE !!!!.

  11. avatar hank/naples says:

JESUS…………. I mean SD Is 31st in Passing Defense for crying OUT LOUD !!!!!!!

  12. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

I think it will be Hodges throwing a pass from punt formation.
What do you mean he is injured??? Didn’t we just sign him?? Is he a LIRR employee??
Scratch that. How about Jones or Washington throwing a pass. Better yet how about Mr T throwing a TD pass with a bum toe.

  13. avatar jas says:

the ed-the flea will throw the pass. we cut Mangold to put him on the roster.

  14. avatar jas says:

    can the flea kick?

  15. avatar jas says:

    chatzy not working

  16. avatar john l says:

    DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. avatar Ilan says:

Coleman is terrible covering the slot. Jets need Miller back. If he can do more than just return it’s covering the slot.

  18. avatar Jose the Jet says:

SD QB has many INTs in his arm tonight. Revis wll get one tonight!! Cant wait to see him run it back….OH Oh Brett almost threw one himself. Lets minimize the plays again ….

  19. avatar Jose the Jet says:

Sd is running the same play from right to left all day. Underneath the coverage.

  20. avatar lou says:

Damnit when is Favre going to chuck it downfield a whole quarter and they have not thrown a bomb

  21. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

Great game so far. Coles really wanted that ball.

Let’s see at this rate it will be 40-7 chargers and MANGINI MUST GO!!!

  22. avatar Jose the Jet says:

A NIGHTMARE SO FAR. BUT IT’S EARLY!!! NOT BRETT FAULT. LC NEEDS TO BE MORE AGRESSIVE!

  23. avatar Jose the Jet says:

    WASHINGTON IS THE MAN!!!

  24. avatar Jose the Jet says:

RUN IT 4 TIMES!!!! NOT THREE!!

  25. avatar Jose the Jet says:

LC waking up!!! No celebrations. Where’s Testeverde? Its going ot be one of those games!!!

  26. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

Great return by Washington. And a passing TD!!!! See Mangini can learn from his mistakes!!!!

I agree not Brett’s fault. Jones had ball ripped out and Coles didn’t want the pass. Good to see him get TD.

But will JETS D show up.

  27. avatar john l says:

WAY TO PUT THE DEFENSE’S BACK AGAINST THE WALL WESTOFF…THAT’S JUST $#@#^%$ GREAT

  28. avatar Jose the Jet says:

THE D IS FINE. WE NEED PRESSURE. THEY ARE RUNNING THE SAME PLAY FROM RIGHT TO LEFT!! WE NEED TO STOP THAT ASAP!!!

  29. avatar Jose the Jet says:

GOOD TRY WESTOFF. IT WAS CLOSE. CB BLITZ FROM THE LEFT IS WHAT WE NEED TO STOP THAT CROSSING PATTERN.

  30. avatar wesleywalker85 says:

I blame mangini for all mistakes

  31. avatar lou says:

Man don’t tell me Jenkins is hurt This could really affect the game.

  32. avatar the ed says:

rabble rabble rabble! mangini must go! rabble rabble!

  33. avatar kd bart says:

Do the Jets ever blitz? Does Bob Sutton know you are allowed to do it?

  34. avatar lou says:

Sutton sucks they needed to get rid of him 2 years ago.

  35. avatar Jose the Jet says:

its not going to be easy not knowing many plays.

  36. avatar Jose the Jet says:

I hate it when im right!!!

  37. avatar john l says:

    COMUNICATION BREAKDOWN!!!!!!

  38. avatar lou says:

Come On Favre get the plays down.

  39. avatar Jose the Jet says:

    THAT WAS BRETTS FAULT!!!

  40. avatar lou says:

This is going to be painful

  41. avatar JD says:

I do blame Mangini for that onside kick. Westhoff is a smart coach. But the Jets had just cut the game to 3 points thanks to Leon Washington and with our malfunctioning offense you take the chance of giving the chargers a short field with 13 minutes to go in the second quarter?

  42. avatar hank/naples says:

    The Ed(itor):

Don’t disappear at the end of the game like your Idol Johnny Styne !!

  43. avatar kd bart says:

    One time, blitz please!!

  44. avatar jas says:

    where’s the flea?

  45. avatar Jose the Jet says:

EVERY DOWN WE SHOULD BLITZ. WE NEED TO CLOG IT UP AGAINS LT.

  46. avatar john l says:

    WERE GETTING WIPPED…..THIS SUCKS

  47. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

    BYE BYE MANGINI!!!!

  48. avatar dan says:

NO Jenkins no chance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this team is a DISGRACE

  49. avatar JD says:

Down by 3; or down by 17? Mangini should have nixed the onside kick!

  50. avatar Jose the Jet says:

    WASHINGTON IS UNBELIEVABLE.

  51. avatar dan says:

FAVRES got to stop pressing the ball in there!!!!! LOOK at Rivers he just finding the open man, NOW!

  52. avatar sjfalcon2001 says:

Couldn’t post before this due to computer problems. We need to stop the run sometime soon. We are WAYYY too exposed without Jenkins. No penetration and noone coming off their blocks to make the play when they rush.

And what is with the onside kick? I understand the concept, but that is poor timing. We’re still down, our offense had shown no rhythm and we run a gadget play that gives the Chargers the ball inside our own 50.

Favre is clearly not in sync with this offense and this might have been a very bad move by the Jets, but I also know we were sure to lose this game with Pennington. At least on paper, Favre gives us more of a chance (if he’s not chucking it to the defense).

  53. avatar Drew says:

Maybe Mangini knew what he was doing by not having Favre throw the ball all game. Idiot fans

  54. avatar kd bart says:

    Sutton!!!

    That’s what a blitz does!!!!

    Use it.

  55. avatar sjfalcon2001 says:

At least our punt was short yardage

  56. avatar The Ed(itor) says:

Where are all you Mangini fans now! Let’s face it, MANGINI SUCKS!!! MANGINI MUST GO!!

  57. avatar Drew says:

Can any of you maniac fans tell me how Mangini sucks based on this game?? You dummies wanted Fvare the throw before he knew the offense. Well here you go. 2 pics leading to 14 plus another that Cromartie dropped. Most of you fans suck!!

  58. avatar JoeMustGo says:

You don’t need that many plays if you execute them. Nice to see the CS had the boys ready to play.

  59. avatar Jose the Jet says:

WE NEED A LONG BALL AND BLITZ. WE STILL HAVE TIME!.

  60. avatar john l says:

ITS THE CURSE OF LEON HESS!!!!!!!!!!!

  61. avatar John says:

The entire team looks like garbage, with the exception of Leon Washington.

  62. avatar Nikolas says:

Drew ….you are the real idiot. If the gans are the idiots and Mangini listens to the fans, then what makes Magini? Worst than idiot?

  63. avatar JD says:

    Drew:

I just told you how Mangini sucks; by allowing Mike Westhoff to go for the onside kick taking any momentum the Jets got from trusty #29 and turning it into a 17 point deficit at halftime.

  64. avatar droseatwork says:

can we please run a slant??????!!!!!!?????????

  65. avatar subwayfare says:

“Stop handcuffing Favre!” “Open it up!” “What do you mean he’s still learning the offense?” “Just throw it downfield” “Mangini’s holding Favre back.” “He knows enough of the plays!” “What’s Mangini doing handing the ball off all the time?” “Let Favre loose!”
    .
The good news is that anyone with any actual knowledge of the game of football understands that this is to be expected. If the CS judiciously brings Favre along as he absorbs more of the playbook and his receivers’ tendencies, the offense should improve and expand as the season goes along.

I imagined the D could hold the fort till that happens but Kris Jenkins going to the locker room worries me.

  66. avatar Drew says:

Everybody sceamed Mangini coached not to lose. Ni guts no glory crap……He takes chances and you guys kill him. That my friends makes you all idiots.

  67. avatar kd bart says:

And if they execute, you all would think it was a great call. Building on the momentum of the TD.

  68. avatar Nikolas says:

Favre…. will take you all to the SuperBowl. Miss Johny Styne will drive you there.

  69. avatar Drew says:

It looks like subwayfare has some brains….Finally a fan who understands the game of football.

  70. avatar hank/naples says:

    Drew :

You cant take these knuckeheads seriously. They love to hold hands and spit in a circle , you know what that is called, don’t you?

I can’t believe some fans on this blog are eating the BS of these Y.O.’s Farve worshipers !!!!

  71. avatar Nikolas says:

Drew you are a real idiot…you picked the wrong person….don’t you know that subwayfare is never right!

  72. avatar Jose the Jet says:

HOPDFULLY JENKINS WILL COME BACK TO STOP THE RUN. IF NOT THAT COULD BE THE GAME. RUN QUALS FIRST DOWNS EQUALS TIME OF POSSESION.

  73. avatar 57Jetsblitz says:

We are getting crushed…we need turnovers.

  74. avatar Drew says:

Its just funny seeing the Jets do what all these morons wanted and it is backfiring. You guys are on the sofa eating wings and not on the sidelines for a reason

  75. avatar kd bart says:

I realize it’s a work in progress and the offense should get much better as the season moves along and everyone get familar with each other. This isn’t baseball. Where you can stick a player in there and get immediate results. This is the ultimate team game. I’m disappointed in the defense. Can we mount a paas rush. Blitz once in awhile.

  76. avatar Jonathan says:

    that onside kick was idiotic.
i like mangini and don’t mind so much that he’s not demonstrative, but he doesn’t ever look confident.

  77. avatar Drew says:

Youre right Nikolas. Your complaints of Mangini makes sense?? You have been a clown since day 1 why would I expect that to change when you’re proven wrong again.

  78. avatar crsp77 says:

Wow… let’s hope the second half is better than the first and that Favre won’t get picked… yet again. Mangini should be plenty worried about his job security right about now. And seriously… where’s Vinny? (spoke too soon, the Chargers just scored again.)

  79. avatar kd bart says:

Without Jenkins, they have nothing to stop the run.

  80. avatar JD says:

    Drew:

I want guts and glory; but not with 13 minutes to go in the second quarter. Bad timing; bad call. All of you (including subwayfare and hank/naples and kc) can prattle on about criticizing the head coaching is clueless-ness but a loss is a loss is a loss.

  81. avatar kd bart says:

They’re giving up 50 if not 60 tonight. Defense is brutal.

  82. avatar Drew says:

With Jenkins out this is going to get ugly quickly

  83. avatar droseatwork says:

    this is poor.

  84. avatar Jose the Jet says:

THE WAY THIS GAME IS TURNING OUT THE ONSIDE KICK WA A GOOD IDEA.
MANGINI SAW THINGS THAT HE DIDNT LIKE I KNEW HE NEEDED THE BALL. WE WEREN’T STOPPING THE RUN OR THE PASS. AT THIS POINT NO JENKINS NO STOPPING THE FIRST DOWNS.

  85. avatar subwayfare says:

Informed, intelligent criticism of coaching and management is always valid. I’ve just not seen much of that here.

  86. avatar kd bart says:

Other than 2 plays by Barrett early, this defense hasn’t made one play.

  87. avatar john l says:

MONDAYNITE MIRACLE PART II……..THE JETS ARE DEFINATELY WINNING THIS ONE

  88. avatar Dont-Forget-Where-You-Came-From-Cheese Mac says:

same old Jets. no sustained offensive possessions and the D is already gassed.

  89. avatar Jose the Jet says:

IS IT ME BUT THERE SEEMS TO BE A LACK OF TEAM SPEED ON OFFENSE.

  90. avatar RTinNC says:

Pretty simple story thus far. You can’t turn the ball over against good teams and expect to be competitive. Three Jet turnovers have led to 21 Charger points. That doesn’t factor in the ill-advised onside kick that led to another SD touchdown.

That last drive indicated the importance of Jenkins to our defense. Can we get a little pressure on Rivers please?!?

  91. avatar Jose the Jet says:

HE NEEDS TO CHANGE HIS NUMBER TO 10 AND START DINKING AND DUNKING!!!

  92. avatar droseatwork says:

yeah, this is bad. We just look weak.
    deep slant?!?!?

  93. avatar droseatwork says:

    Deep in. my bad

  94. avatar the ed says:

anyone venting on mangini for the jets’ horrible performance thusfar is truly an idiot. i understand the tendency to criticize a coach when the team is doing poorly, but at a certain point the players just have to perform. end of story. did mangini turn the ball over three times, setting up three easy touchdowns? um, no, he did not. that would be favre and thomas jones. take favre off the pedestal, its time to criticize the ones who are actually not doing their jobs. mangini is a scapegoat for the idiots.

  95. avatar JD says:

    subwayfare:

It’s not about what you see here: it’s about what we’re seeing on the field.

  96. avatar Drew says:

The Chargers are going to throw the sink at Favre being up by this much. He might get hurt in this game.

  97. avatar Jose the Jet says:

THERE IS ONE DINK!! NOW WE NEED A DUNK.

  98. avatar Dont-Forget-Where-You-Came-From-Cheese Mac says:

Why call that play with a finite amount of space?! Let the Wr’s and Keller run in open space, not fight for jump balls.

  99. avatar Jose the Jet says:

HOW SMART IS BRETT? WOULD IT HAD BEEN EASIER TO TEACH THE OTHER 52 PLAYERS ALL THE GREEN BAY PLAYS.

  100. avatar droseatwork says:

where was this in the first half?

  101. avatar Drew says:

Favre’s arm might fall off after this game. He’ll have to throw it 60+ to get back into this game

  102. avatar Jose the Jet says:

WE NEED AT LEAST A FIELD GOAL.. TIME FOR A TRICK PLAY!!

  103. avatar JD says:

    Jose the Jet:

    Yes.

  104. avatar Rob Galgano says:

    Favre should have stayed retired.

  105. avatar Jonathan says:

does mangini coach or just stand there and look sad?

  106. avatar Jose the Jet says:

TEN AND IN WITH THE RUNNING BACK COMING AROUND FOR A FLEA FLICKER.. HEY! WORKS IN THE STREETS!!

  107. avatar Drew says:

Why waste a TO down by 20+ in the 3rd quarter on 3rd and 19?? Strange!!

  108. avatar Drew says:

    That’s why…….4 & 2 Nice

  109. avatar Jose the Jet says:

SCREEN PLAY IS JUST AS GOOD..

  110. avatar Seasonislost08 says:

My fellow Jet fans… We are a team without an identity. Are we a great defensive team? NO Are we a great Offensive team? NO Are we a great Special Teams team? NO

We don’t have what it takes to hang with the AFC East let alone any other team. I cannot blame Favre in fact I feel terribly sorry for the man. This all falls on Tannenbaum and Mangini trying to fix a sinking ship with bandages rather than just buying a new boat. Woody needs to get Bill Cowher in the worst possible way next year.

  111. avatar Jose the Jet says:

SCREEN PLAY IS JUST AS GOOD.. I’VE BEEN ASKING FOR SCREEN PLAYS SINCE MIAMI! ITS ABOUT TIME!!

  112. avatar Drew says:

We should use the old direct snap to the RB while Favre is lined up as a WR……It worked for the Dolphins

  113. avatar JD says:

    Bill Cowher? Howabout Les Miles.

  114. avatar Jose the Jet says:

AH. KELLER IS A ROOKIE!! NOT HIS FAULT EITHER.

  115. avatar bradbaxter says:

Im glad we jettisoned Pennington for this ass clown

  116. avatar Drew says:

    Has anyone seen C Baker??

  117. avatar kd bart says:

Third and long. Will we see a blitz?

  118. avatar Jose the Jet says:

THEY SHOULD HAVE OPENED IT UP AND RUN IT W/ WASHINGTON OR JONES UP THE MIDDLE

  119. avatar bradbaxter says:

Im going to refuse to talk to the media in protest

  120. avatar Seasonislost08 says:

Im crying in the rain right now so noone can see my tears.

  121. avatar kd bart says:

Eric Smith is an awful safety. Does he ever make a play?

  122. avatar Jose the Jet says:

FIRST TIME WE BLITZ. VERY PREDICTABLE BLITZ. CHARGES WERE READY. THE BLITZ IS SUPPOSE TO BE A SURPRISE..

  123. avatar Dont-Forget-Where-You-Came-From-Cheese Mac says:

At least the bye is early this year. Seriously.

  124. avatar Drew says:

We blitz and they throw a screen…. Anymore bright ideas??

  128. avatar john l says:

CONGRADULATION VERNON GHOLSTON ON YOUR FIRST TACKLE IN THE NFL…TOOK YOU 3 GAMES BUT YOU DID IT…..

  129. avatar Dont-Forget-Where-You-Came-From-Cheese Mac says:

No idea why they didnt just run it for a first down.

  130. avatar Jose the Jet says:

EARLY HAIL MARYS. GOTTA PRAY EARLY!!

  131. avatar Dont-Forget-Where-You-Came-From-Cheese Mac says:

John I- congratulations on your spelling bee victory…

  132. avatar Drew says:

Suprise they finally threw a flag on the Chargers. Nice make up for blowing the game last week

  133. avatar Drew says:

Can we score 25 and hold them to zero int he 4th?

  134. avatar Jose the Jet says:

24 PTS IN ONE QUARTER. CRAZIER THINGS HAVE HAPPENED.

  135. avatar JD says:

    Pat Leahy:

    Good one.

  136. avatar john l says:

HEY WITH THIS NIGHTMARE OF A GAME MY SPEACH IS EVEN STARTING TO SLUR

  137. avatar Jose the Jet says:

TAKING TOO MUCH TIME TO SCORE.

  138. avatar Jose the Jet says:

DID HE CHAGE HIS JERSEY TO NUMBER 10?

  139. avatar john l says:

IF EVER TYPES “MONDAYNITE MIRACLE” WE WILL WIN

  140. avatar john l says:

    I GUESS NOT

  141. avatar john l says:

    GOODNITE

  142. avatar Jose the Jet says:

THAT DIDNT AND DID MAKE SENSE. SHOULD’VE THROWN A FADE PATTERN TO A TE.

  143. avatar kd bart says:

    Well that one worked.

  144. avatar JD says:

Now that’s the time/situation for an onside kick.

  145. avatar Jose the Jet says:

THATS ONE!! I THINK FEELY CAN DO THAT ALL DAY.

  146. avatar Jose the Jet says:

LETS SEE IF THAT WAS THE RIGHT SITUATION. LET SEE WHAT THE DEFENSE WILL DO.

  147. avatar Dont-Forget-Where-You-Came-From-Cheese Mac says:

Jose- the D has been on the field too much. They are gonna run all over us.

  148. avatar kd bart says:

    Ball game.

  149. avatar Jose the Jet says:

DNT UNDERSTAND. Y NOT ANOTHER ONSIDE?

  150. avatar swizzle81 says:

hopefully Jenkins is not seriously hurt

  151. avatar Jose the Jet says:

TE DEFENSE HAVENT BEEN STOPPING NO ONE AND NOT ANOTHER ONSIDE?

  152. avatar Dont-Forget-Where-You-Came-From-Cheese Mac says:

Hopefully Jenkins’ injury is not crazy serious.

  153. avatar kd bart says:

Defense definitely grades out as an F across the board tonight. Terrible all around after the first few plays.

  154. avatar JD says:

Somebody better ask Mangini about his decision to go for that that onside kick down by 3 with 13 minutes to go in the second quarter. The game was lost after that.

  155. avatar kd bart says:

    This team can return kicks.

  156. avatar Jose the Jet says:

EVEN IF ITS NOT SUCCESSFUL YOU SHORTEN THE FIELD. ITS EASIER TO PLAY DEFENSE W/ A SHORTER FIELD..

  157. avatar Dont-Forget-Where-You-Came-From-Cheese Mac says:

kd bart- factor in losing jenkins and the time of posession and its not ebtirely their fault.

JD- its the chicago game all over again.

  158. avatar Dont-Forget-Where-You-Came-From-Cheese Mac says:

    cheese mac- entirely, idiot.

  159. avatar swizzle81 says:

Stop blaming Mangini, how bout blaming Wright for not catching the onsides kick earlier. This D doesnt lokk the same without Jenkins in the middle

  160. avatar Jose the Jet says:

another one that doesnt make sense. one quarter of a yard!!

  161. avatar kd bart says:

Nope. Can’t stop the run without him.

  162. avatar crsp77 says:

I feel like I’ve been illegally touched just by sitting through this fiasco.

  163. avatar bigpat says:

45-29 nothing changes 4-12 is the record i foresee. maybe 5-11 then next year no qb and we will be 1 and aww forget it i am going to bed.

  164. avatar Jose the Jet says:

ALMOST!!! ANOTHER ONSIDE. THE MNF ANOUNCERS ARE THE WORSE. THE DUDE FROM PARDEN THE INTERUPTION DOES NOT STOP SAYING STUPID THINGS.

  165. avatar bigpat says:

it could be worse………Madden but at least he is amusing

  166. avatar tony says:

omg. they were on the 1/4 yd line and didn’t run to make the 2pts? am i the only one that thinks that this was absolutely INSANE TO CALL A PASS PLAY!!???!???

  167. avatar bigpat says:

if they ran we all be Throw the damn ball. but yeah i would of punched it up the middle

  168. avatar kd bart says:

Clemens for the final two minutes.

  169. avatar bigpat says:

    well it looks about over………..

  170. avatar bigpat says:

wait i should of wrote that at half time

  171. avatar bigpat says:

    kd you got your wish

  172. avatar bigpat says:

get some glue on kellers hands

C’mon swizzle81. The Jets went from -3 to -10 to -17 after the ill-advised onside kick. It is MANGINI’S FAULT. BTW, crsp77, very funny. At least some people don’t apologize for this head coaching, but have some fun at its expense.

  174. avatar bigpat says:

    GAME OVER

  175. avatar bigpat says:

mangini look like joe lewis just gave him a gut check..

  176. avatar kd bart says:

I saw Clemens putting his helmet on during the sideline skirmish so I knew he was going in.

Must beat Arizona next week to get out of the first quarter 2-2. Knew this would be a tough one. An 0-2 team that feels they should be 2-0 on the road was going to be tough,

  177. avatar Jose the Jet says:

THEY NEED TO BRING BACK MADDEN. HE MADE SENSE.

  178. avatar bigpat says:

yeah to both kd and jose

  179. avatar Jose the Jet says:

I’D TAKE 2-2 AFTER NEXT WEEK. ARIZONA HAS A GOOD DEFENSE.

  180. avatar bigpat says:

yeah i would like to see 2-2. after next week…

  181. avatar bigpat says:

whats the deal with the jets not getting hte calls for pass int. they are clearly pass int but no flags

  182. avatar bigpat says:

happened at the pats game too

  183. avatar swizzle81 says:

Jets D was pathetic tonite, safety play was awful again, Smith and Rhodes are not having a good year so far. Lowery got beat several times tonite. Few positives, return game looked good, and Stuckey will be a great target inside the red zone.

  184. avatar swizzle81 says:

Jets WR have been getting mugged all year.

  185. avatar James in TN says:

All you Mangini apologists, you were right Mangini is a genius. He tricked SD into the lead so we could have a practice with a no backfield set. Thereby giving Favre a chance to play in game type conditions……..Or maybe he does @#$%ing suck and everyone who thinks he is awesome owes everyone witha brain an apology. This just in GHOLSTON waived then resigned for more money!!!! LOL!!!! Gonna be along season

  186. avatar kd bart says:

Did the Jets even touch Rivers tonight?

  187. avatar Dont-Forget-Where-You-Came-From-Cheese Mac says:

bigpat- no way the jets were getting any calls tonight after the chargers got jobbed last week.

as for the game- same old Jets: Time of possession tells the story. Absolutely no sustained offensive drives+Defense on the field for far too long = opposing offenses going wild.

  188. avatar GREENBLOOD says:

Vernon Gholston is a MONSTER ! WOW.

  189. avatar JD says:

    James in TN:

You got that right; btw, did anyone see #4 hobbling off from the sideline after the game – so sad we waste such a prodigious talent in the only year we’ll have him for.

  190. avatar Dont-Forget-Where-You-Came-From-Cheese Mac says:

GREENBLOOD- read this site every once in a while, ok?

  191. avatar dan says:

i hope this Jenkins injury isn’t serious, this would be devastating after them running us over, mangini will prob. keep his injury hidden………aka Jon vilma

  192. avatar klecko71 says:

Simple logic on the onsides kick:

If you recover it, your on ur own 40…and if you get 7 pts on the drive, hardly a sure thing…u are up 21-17 mid 2nd quarter.

Not exactly a game changing play then.

If you dont recover it, you hand them your 40…a short field for the 2nd time in the game at that pt…and u risk going down 10 on the road in the 2nd qtr of a game u lead by 7 after 5 minutes.

SO…the risk….far outweighed the reward in that situation.

Its also a play u do if u are down 21-10 at that pt and need a spark, and u are a HUGE underdog in the game….aka “arent supposed to win”.

Our D was pretty wesk…losing jenkins seemed to be a bigger factor then one would think…

Oh and where was the flag on the coles pass / pick for TD…..those losers usually call any contact on recievers.

Must win next week….simple. 2-2 at the bye is fine with me as long as we look better doing it.

Kudos to all the New York fans who pushed so hard for the Favre trade. Pennington would have had this team 3-0. Plain and simple.

You guys are a bunch of idiots, and you’ll never be happy. And you’ll never understand how to build a good football team. Ever. Congratulations on our continuing misery. It’s all your fault.

  194. avatar matthewm says:

Look carefully at the photo. We lost because because we had to play LT, Rivers, and Drew Brees. Seems a bit unfair, but may explain his 400 yards (200 in each game?). Suspect Farve sprained his ankle throwing off the wrong foot so many times. Plus every picture I see of him, I imagine he’s thinking: ‘If I leave now, I can be home in three hours and never think about football again.’ Hard also not to think that Pennington designed a lot of the plays that whipped the Pats, and maybe he was the positive influence two years in opening up the formations? Certainly not happening now. Brad Smith? Jets are playing street ball (“everyone out for a pass…”). Without the run and without D, street ball is fun, but loses a lot of games. Maybe I am wrong, but I keep thinking also that these Jets look very sloppy and poorly coached: 12 men on the field, or 10, or unable to run it in from the 3 inch line. Plus the roster management is a joke. 4 QBs, no kickers, about 100 WRs.
