Week 4 Wed. Injury Report – Jets

by Bassett on September 24th, 2008 at 11:13 pm

Injury report and some thoughts below …

OUT (DEFINITELY WILL NOT PLAY)
Wednesday — WR David Clowney (shoulder), K Mike Nugent (right thigh)

DID NOT PARTICIPATE IN PRACTICE
Wednesday — DT Kris Jenkins (back)

LIMITED PARTICIPATION IN PRACTICE
Wednesday — WR Laveranues Coles (thigh), QB Brett Favre (ankle), P Reggie Hodges (left thigh), CB Justin Miller (foot)

FULL PARTICIPATION IN PRACTICE
Wednesday — WR Brad Smith (knee)

K Mike Nugent and WR David Clowney are still out.  According to his agent, Clowney’s collarbone should be healed and might be free practice and play after the bye.  As far a Nugent, no one seems to know anything about the extent of the kicker’s injury, but depending on the severity (and high likelihood of it being a hamstring strain), it could be up to six weeks but I’d think with the treatment he’d receive, I think we’ll see him after the bye against Cincinnati.

Although he was on the list last week and left the Monday night game due to an injury Monday night, Safety David Barrett isn’t on the list now.  Corner Justin Miller is still limited and is an unknown again.  Miller might not start, but having him available against this fast passing attack would be a help.

Brad Smith was added to the list today for his knee, so keep an eye on this.

Graham looks likely to be the punter again for the Jets this weekend.  Graham took most of the punting reps in practice on Wednesday … that and the fact that they haven’t cut him again pretty much tell the tale.

Most importantly, Nose Tackle Kris Jenkins was dressed but barely participated.  The same was true for QB Brett Favre.  He did some soft tossing with his receivers, but limped around quite a bit during the day, and although is likely to start, it would be shocking if he’s as mobile as normal for the game Sunday.

What do you guys think? Is it worth playing Jenkins on Sunday and risking deeper injury? Or would it be better to rest him through the bye week? Without him in there, the line obviously suffers. It might cost us the game to rest him.

    1. Rest him….. 2. Play a 4-3….3. Turn Gohlston DE loose!!!!!

Can anyone answer why Coles is perpetually on the injury list? I think for the last 2 years straight the guy has been questionable with a leg injury. That’s not even an exaggeration.

We need jenkins in there! we lose this game and u can kiss the season good bye! no chance of playoffs if we lose this game! Changing our defensive system to 4-3 might be interesting. Actually if the coach had any clue he would of never changed our defense to this 3-4 that our key first round draft picks in the past just don’t fit.
Coles injured his ankle early last year, thats why he was on injury list as well as not playing the last few games. This year druing training camp i believe he strained his thigh and has been limited in training camp- thats why favre and coles has gotten off to a slow start. just not practicing much with each other

jenkins should play, 4-3 switch would be interesting but it would take everyone another 3 years to learn their old positions back plus bob sutton shouldn’t be given anymore responsibility than he has already.

In my JETS dream world I’d have John Hall kicking and Donnie Henderson agressive play calling!
