Link: Cotchery’s Hands Tell His Story

Jerricho Cotchery has had some real adversity early in his life, but his family, his faith and his loved ones have helped him get to where he now is with the Jets.  Amazingly, Jericho was born with six fingers on one hand, (it was eventually removed) but early on, his mother relates how even when he was little, he preoccupied with his hands.

“God’s purpose for Jerricho was to play football,” Katie Cotchery said. “I can think back when he was a little baby, and we were always wondering why he would always look at his hands. He would always [stretch out his hands] and look at them.”

Apparently Cotchery was featured on ESPN’s e60 this week, but you can read a companion article about his life and faith on the ESPN website.

Thanks to Matt Y. for sending this one on.

  1. we LOVE you COTCH….you DA MAN!!!!!

  2. and Herm didn’t play him. Another great move by the players coach.

  3. I saw that episode. It was on Wednesday. It was about how they were really poor when they were younger. How they water and electricity would get turned off because they couldnt pay the bills. Italso talked about how he was in a car accident with his best friend and how he watched him die. He said that he uses his best friend as an inspiration and keeps him motivated.

Also, after the car accident, J Co had pieces of glass embedded into his wrist. Till today, those pieces of glass are still in his wrists because the doctor couldnt operate because it is such a sensative spot (main arteries and nerves that can cause partial paralysis).

It also talked about his adpotion story. It was great to see J CO on Tv. They said he is on of the best human beings in the NFL and he is what the NFL stands for. He is not a show off or a dancer or anything like that. He takes care of his businss quitely. Great guy.
