Three Questions for a Blogger: Cardinals Edition

by Bassett on September 26th, 2008 at 12:00 pm

Scott Allen at the blog Raising Zona (if you don’t get the reference, add this movie, one of the Cohen brothers’ first, to your NetFlix queue, RIGHT NOW) has been so kind as to answer three questions from us about the Cardinals and the game this weekend.  They’ve asked us some too, which you can check out here.

TJB: This Cardinals offense looks potent.  Does this group ever get bogged down?  How?

Raising Zona: The offense is definitely this team’s strength.  I think where they do get get into trouble is when they can’t get their running game going.  It’s one thing when they are able to find a balance, but when they’ve made a conscious decision to run the ball more than pass and it doesn’t work, then they end up abandoning the running game all together.  That’s usually when they have fallen behind and are trying to play catchup in a hurry.  That was the position they found themselves in this past Sunday against the Redskins.  Edgerrin James had a pretty good first half and was finding holes left and right, however, in the second half, they fell behind and pretty much had to rely on the passing game only.  It sure is nice to have two pro bowlers in Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin catching the ball for you though.  Kurt Warner has found new life in Arizona.

TJB: Calvin Pace is a guy that many Jets fans are excited about, what were your impressions of him while he was in Arizona?

Raising Zona: He was a dissapointment really for the most part, especially the first two seasons in Arizona.  Last year he actually did perform to a level that was more consistent with what the Cardinals were expecting when they drafted him in the first round.  Apparently though, he didn’t have such great lasting impressions of Arizona.  I wish him well in New York, however when he makes the types of statements about Arizona Cardinals football like he has this week, he may lose what fans he did have here.

TJB: Who is the one guy that you think will create the most matchup problems for the Jets?

Raising Zona: That’s a good question.  I watched the Favre and the Jets struggle on Monday nighty against the Chargers secondary.  I like SS Adrian Wilson.  I am excited to see him face Favre to see if he can find a ball or two in his hands heading t
