Peter King lauded some praise (imagine that) on Favre for his first career six (pinch me, over the past 10 years, that’s normally like 4 games for a Jets QB!!!) touchdown day in his Monday Morning Quarterback article on Sports Illustrated’s website.
Brett Favre, QB, New York Jets. Favre had played 282 games in the NFL before Sunday. Three times he’d thrown five touchdown passes in a game. But he’d never thrown six in a game — until one of the weirder games he’d been a part of was contested at his new home field Sunday.
Favre threw no touchdown passes in the first and third quarters. He threw three touchdown passes in the second and fourth. For the game, he was 24-of-34 for 289 yards, with the six scores and one interception. “I don’t think it’s time for anyone to start printing playoff tickets yet,” he said after the game, but let’s be honest. The Jets stunk big-time the last two weeks, and they looked like serious playoff contenders Sunday, and much of that is because Favre, week by week, is getting more in sync with his receivers.

Right on, KC. The dude complained about our cheerleaders outfits. Always gotta say something bad about the Jets. They must teach that wherever these Aholes learn to write.

Did anyone read this part of the article?

On Mangini…
“I love New Jersey,” he said on his drive home Sunday. “I just love New Jersey. So much less traffic than we’re used to. The land, the schools, the towns, the deer …”
The deer?
“My kids never saw deer before we moved here,” he said.
I smell a call from Gov. Jon Corzine’s office, and a commercial with the Mangini family petting a deer at the new Florham Park facility, with not a car in sight.

Wouldn’t it be great if they made that commercial, and then all of a sudden you see Brett Farve pop up in the background in camouflage holding a rifle… you know the rest…

Excuse the FaVre misspelling. Still getting used to tying his name.

does anyone know what the passer rating is for this one game?
TIA,
harlan

123.7 Qb rating for Favre.
-
Interesting that KC and Chad threw for a combined 15 td’s last season and Favre now has 12. He has a 70% completion rate right now. That’s pretty good.
-
Apparently Peter King doesn’t believe that defense is an important component of a playoff contender. They’ve allowed 83 points the last two weeks… and 29 points per game over all, which puts the Jets even with winners like the Lions and Rams. But by all means… one 56 point performance against Arizona = playoffs!

Good Numbers Najy! Sack number is high, but i recall a few of those sacks being on him holding the ball and not throwing it away.
Navj can u find out what are numbers were for all of last year for completions over 20yds and 40yds?I was looking over the play by play just before of yesterdays game, and u know what play was huge, the play when the cards went for it on 4th and 8 on their second possession of the 3rd quarter. The ball was thrown under to Fitzgerald where he was met by Poteat about 2-3 yards shy of the first down, but he broke out of the ankle tacke and got the first down. At the time, the cards only had 7points. If we completed that stop, it would of been our ball. But instead they got a new set of downs where they then scored a TD and 2point conversion to make it 15-34. The Cards then did that onside kick that they recovered and drove down and got another TD to make is 21-34. If we stopped them on that 4th down, which we should of, the score would of been a lot different, that missed tackle led to 14 points for the Cards.

From king- I think the text message of the night was this, from Brett Favre, after I messaged a post-game congrats on his six touchdowns: “Great. I hope I leave something here other than stats.”
I may not be a fan of him, but I’m glad we were able to give him something he had never had in his career. I think the game made him really feel like a Jet. Loved the D too. Big win going into the bye.

Brad,
Thanks.

Great numbers from Favre and we still haven’t beating a good team. Plus we don’t get tested again until Buffalo.
-
TruJetFan,
I agree that we havent beaten a “good team” yet but I think that we could have beaten anybody yesterday with the way our O was playing.
But the Cards are 2-1 and have a very potent offense. Up until yesterday, they hading allowed a 100 yard rusher, 200 yd passer or a 100 yard receuver all year. They have a very good O and an underrated D. The only team that the Cards lost to was the skins who just beat the “best team” in the NFL last night. This is a very fickle league and is different week to week.
But yesterday, the Jets played well enough to beat anybody in the NFL. Too bad it wasnt the Pats and Tom Brady.
-
This whole good team bad team is a joke. We beat Miami but they suck but then they beat the Pats and maybe their good. We lose to the Pats and we suck but then the Pats lose to the Phins and they suck or are they now good? We lose badly to the 0-2 Bolts who should have been 2-0 but then they almost lose to the Raiders so they still are good or suck not sure…and then we destroy the Cardinals but they beat Miami badly but since we scored 50+ means they suck and we might suck or maybe were good or maybe we should suck but Favre is good. Enough already play the damn schedule. The NFL is a parity league. Any win is a good one.

And by the way…. F Peter King!!
-
PK’s a fool.
Rightfully so, most of the limelight is on Favre, but alot of light should be shining on Jenkins. He is a real difference maker. He even made Eric Smith look good yesterday on that pick, because he literally picked up the center and smacked Warner with him causing the ball to squirt up in the air right to Smith. He also makes Pace, Thomas and Ellis so much better, its scary. I hope he stays strong & healthy.
-
wow that was quick Najy! thanks for the info! where u getting those stats from?

NFL.com

Jenkins is so amazing if continues his great play and can do it for a coupple of more years then I think we have a HOF player. He’s already been to a coupple of probowls and he dominates! He makes every center he goes up against look like Adrien Clarke!
-
Reprocity, very good.. we need to put the spot light on Jenkins as he as been anchoring the line and freeing up defensive ends to put the hurting on the quarterbacks.. I annoyed the bye week is coming up so soon but I guess its a good thing so we can get us some buffalo.. Remember, we didn’t beat them once last year.. and they look like they are ready to take on the AFC this year.
-
We never put any pressure on edwards last year and he basically “Penningtoned” us apart. Every QB on our schedule is now on notice. We rush 3 = No pressure! We send the blitz = QB Carnage!
-
wtf? Your paid to play 60 minutes. Shoulda been 56-0. Thank god for the Brett man.
-
These F(*&kers get paid to work out! Keep their weight down! Some even get paid to carry a clipboard. Sarcasim aside they should never have taken the pressure off without our running game being eastablished FIRST!
-
Geoff,
I am not that upset about that and neither should you. I will tell you why.
Jets have not scored that many points in a quarter in their history. When was the last time the Jets were up by 30+ points on anybody?
Bottom line is that they werent put in a situation like this before. Usually, the Jets play close games and are always playing from behind. They got a little relaxed being up by so much and I cant blame them because they were in unchartered territory. They dont know how to close games out because they havent been closing any games out for 2 years.
No need to worry. Next time they are in that position, they will be better prepared mentally.
-
Sitting in the stadium, I’ll also add that it seemed everyone was emotionally drained after the fireworks of the 2nd quarter. I’m guessing that extended to the team — and before they could get their energy back up, AZ got 2 scores.
But to keep it in perspective, the Jets never let them get any closer than 13. As Drew said above, in this league of parity, any win is a good win. Take it and be happy for the show on top!

“Boldin took a blow to the helmet from the Bills’ Eric Smith ” SI.com. Peter King + SI.com = Me begging you all to keep posting so I have more stuff to read on this blog so I dont have to go read that crap on SI.com. Even newyorkjets.com/clippings : Farve, Farve, Farve, it’s really bad!

Get a hold of this…
Jets release Ben Graham and sign OL Will Montgomery….
-
Remember of the TOTAL points the Jets earned in the first half sunday one was a touchdown by Revis, the other one was that COLES not Farve made an impressive move on Eric Green and twisted him up like a pretzel and blew past the safety on a one on one matchup. Remember for the first score the special teams gave the offense and Farve the field position to score. He made a nice throw to Coles on the first touchdown however all 21 of the offensive touchdown points were given to the offense when the defense caused turnovers. I give credit to Farve only in the second half when he FINALLY FINALLY listened to Schotty’s playcalling and looked how should I say “pennington “like on his drive to score on 4th and one and then repeating the same to Cotchery on the next offensive series. By then the game was a thirteen point lead by the Jets until it was over.

Awarding Favre and bashing the fans before… Hmmm, that sounds like everything is pretty much covered.
-
Fonzie,
You are reaching in your statements. Dont hate on Favre.
-
Rifle hunting is illegal in NJ, only bow hunting is allowed. As usual, PK is right on the money.
-
Fonzie,
You’re a broken record. Favre is already having a season CP could only dream about.
-
Fronzie,
“when he FINALLY FINALLY listened to Schotty’s playcalling and looked how should I say “pennington “like”…ARE YOU KIDDING ME????…ARE U SERIIOUSLY PUTTING CP IN THE SAME SENTENCE AS BRETT FAVRE???…no comment…im at a loss of words…

hey peter……….SHUT THE F@*K UP!!!
