Jets Targets Through Week 5
Posted on October 5th, 2008 by Bassett
Here are the targets for the Jets through four weeks of the season. As you can see, Coles good day last weekend has made him Favre’s favorite target, while Cotchery has been more efficient with the passes tossed his way, but Stuckey has been most efficient of all receivers.

Lol sucks for Brad Smith. Looks like he is being phased out esp with Clowney coming back. Good riddance I say. He was never more than a #4 WR/ trick play WR in this league anyway. Clowney and Stuckey have better upside anyways
I think with the emergence of Stuckey that they should try Brad Smith at defensive back. They tried it with Stuckey in the preseason, why not try it with Smith? He’s tall, has good speed and atheleticism as well as being a smart player and good tackler on special teams. That immediately makes him better then Barret, Eric Smith, and Coleman.
Wow I thought in the offseason they were thinking about getting Brad more catches and now with clowney coming back its only gonna get worse for Smith
18andOne- good point! I agree- think it might be a good idea to try him Brad Smith out as a DB. Cant wait to see Clowney fly down field for those long passes from Favre!
I think we need to start using Baker more effectively in the passing game! Year after year he has one of the best reception percentages. I like Keller, but big difference in percentage- Keller 50% and Baker 85%.
GOOD IDEA WITH BRAD SMITH. OR HE CAN BE JUST A SPEACIAL TEAMS PLAYER. WHERE’S THE DEFENSIVE STATS? THOSE SHOULD BE INTERESTING!!
Should we still be embarassed by barely beating the Dolphins in week 1?
Not really the Fins just beat the Pats and Chargers
but we should be a little but not in that sense but they beat 2 teams we couldnt , but if favre and our WR where in the same page as they were last week we would have been 4-0
dont know if anyone saw the bills game this afternoon but edwards took a vicous hit from gabe wilson early in the first quarter and never returned. ironically, losman actually played pretty well (although he took a couple of sacks that perhaps could have been avoided) but the bills d looked a lot like ours in the second half against the cards . . . vulnerable. although i will say that marcus stroud is a man in the middle, even in the lopsided loss he looked stout.
I am excited to see if they’ll use Clowney and let him run by everyone. Arizona has a good offense, they’re tough.
i meant adrian wilson, not gabe
The supposedly weak teams the Jets beat suddenly don’t seem so awful. Miami beat both AFC Championship contestants and Arizona put up 41 on the undefeated invinci-Bills. If the Jets can work on getting off the field on 3rd downs over the bye, the rest of the season could get very interesting.
I’m pretty confident that there are better DB’s available out there than B.Smith would be. If he can’t get on the field as a WR and we have 4 QB’s on the roster, I don’t really see any reason to keep him around. Better to bring in a real safety than try and convert B.Smith–it seems like Mangini likes him so much he is continuously trying to find a new role for him. I can see the argument though, that holder and ultra-emergency QB, RB, WR, and DB is a valid role and a good reason to hold a roster spot…
If they are not going to put Ainge on the IR it’s time to cut Smith. If they don’t want to run those option plays anymore he’s just not worth the roster spot.
Maybe we should follow the Phins lead and start using this wildcat formation with smith as the QB- his role in college was a QB!
